In Honor and Remembrance of Sept 11

I was staying at the Grand Californian in Disneyland, with my MIL. I went for a conference that was being held at the Disneyland Hotel. I didn't know anything was amiss until our phone message light flashed. I thought it was the Hotel Events for the day, but instead they said "All the flights at all the airports are currently grounded, if you need to make arrangements to stay, please come to the front desk and we will help you." I said, "Terry, turn on the tv". She said, "Why?" I said, "I don't know but all the flights are grounded, something must be happening." Oh, it was awful. We saw the second plane hit and the buildings collapse. Neither one of us could believe it.

We had taken the train up to Disneyland, instead of driving, and we were stranded. They wouldn't let taxi's even near the resorts and of course the trains weren't running either. We were able to leave the next day.

Disney took good care of it's guests. The parks were closed, of course, as was DD. At the hotel there were movies in the Ballrooms for the kids, and TV's out in the hall for the adults. The game rooms were free. They eventually opened ESPN zone and the games were free. They also showed a choice of movies in the AMC theatres and that was free, as was popcorn and soda. We did go to the movies. Just had to take our minds off it.
Can't believe it was four years ago.
