In DVC system in time for Cruise?

Hello all,
We are signing the closing papers on our contract at the VWL next week. I know that Disney is pretty good about gettting new owners into the system quickly, but I am wondering about the DVC reception on our upcoming cruise. I just booked a last minute 4-day with my mom on the Wonder and I am afraid that the fact that we are new DVC members means we might not get our invite. Is there a way to get that on our cruise reservation and when we get on board will they want to see our membership card before they let us attend? I'm pretty sure I won't have the card by the cruise as it's in just 38 days. Any tips or advice? (I really want the red DVC hat we saw that they gave away to members on our 7 day Western this March!)

I hope I am incorrect and I haven't been on a 4 day cruise in a year but if memory serves me correctly they don't do a member gathering on the 3 or 4 day cruise. Maybe we were just so busy we missed it but I really don't remember it. We booked one of those trips on points and had some neat gifts in our room (beach towels), but that was it. Maybe they have changed that since 2003 though.

BTW, our whole family got the member hats on a 7 day cruise in February. The attention to DVC members was much higher on the 7 day.

We were on the four day in March '03 and there was not a DVC member gathering (unless this has changed since then). There is a Castaway Club social for all returning cruisers.
