In Defense of Bob Chapek

For the record: I'm not crazy about Genie+. Having said that, because it's entirely internet based, I suspect many, many modifications will come as they see the issues it's causing and the problems it isn't solving.

Agreed. I was hoping it meant you could walk into a park (almost whenever), look at the SB line and say forget that-then purchase access. But since $15 sells out in minutes (for some popular ones) I'm not sure what dollar figure would even work.

Regardless, the 7AM (4AM west coast visitors) is awful.

"BIASED"? LOL, you gotta be a troll. It's your turn to go through all 17 and dispute them rather than just saying I'm biased.
Well, you literally ARE biased in the sense that you have a bias here against Bob Chapek.

True or false: you are biased against Chapek?

The major issue is the amount of guests buying it. Thats the first thing they need to change. Cap sales each day.

Maybe only offered to onsite guests.

Likable is a subjective term. What you like might not be what I like. If a person has the characteristics that I listed, people will follow. I don't have to be your buddy to respect you and follow you.

Unfortunately when "stances" are taken (or even not taken), about 1/2 the guests lose their minds.

Wow, Jonfw2 you are taking a beating. Really not warranted. We should all have our opinion on these forums without people getting so angry. While I am not a big Chapek fan, appreciate your point of view.

And welcome to the decision room. Gotta be difficult.

I don't see that happening. I see them raising the price considerably. I do see them letting resort guests purchase it the day before.

That would be a good perk for staying on property, but that would cause a massive uproar.

In all sincerity, what DOESN'T cause a massive uproar?

More so than any other controversial thing they have rolled out?

Hey no worries! More than maybe any other company out there, Disney decisions are unbelievably personal to people. So criticism of their stance on something- no matter how impersonal- is likely going to be taken personally.

It shouldn't be, but it is.

They have too many onsite guests for that. They would have to really limit it like how Universal does with their unlimited Express. I could see them doing it for Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian only. I doubt they'll go down that route and they'll instead raise the price overall.

OK, let's go:
1. Tron delays are ridiculous
2. Lack of maintenance, way too many rides are down continually and has done nothing to help the situation (budget cuts)
3. Continues to devalue base experience by creating more pay to play extras (see MM+)
4. Unable to get staffing levels up to where they need to be after a year
5. Has damaged relationships with several big name actors
6. No longer the leader in park entertainment
7. Reacts to Universal rather than taking a leadership role
8. Has gutted Imagineering
9. Damaged relationship with gay community
10. Created adversarial relationship with conservatives
11. Gutted budget for Epcot reimagineering
12. Got rid of Magical Express
13. Disney stock down almost 50% during his tenure
14. Has adversarial relationship with Iger
15. Created image problem of not caring about loyal Disney guests
16. Eliminates anyone who he feels threatened by
17. Surrounded by yes-men/women who seem detached and uncaring (see CFO)

I'm sure there are more, but that's just a few off the top of my head.

I think you are leaving out the #1 issue.... The biggest issue that I have with him is that he is continuing the pattern over the last 20 years of prioritizing the California Parks at the expense of the Florida Parks. I was shocked how much the experience in Florida has been devalued, lousy rides, bad maintenance, closed restaurants, etc.... The local guests in California would never tolerate that nonsense and DIsney knows it. Consequently the California parks get the best rides, best shows, best maintenance, and full resources to run the parks and give guests a A+ experience. Does Disney know guests to the Florida parks will accept a C- experience?

It should be noted that when Universal is totally packed, you can still wait 30 to 60 minutes WITH their Express Pass. That is never the case with Disney's comparable offerings.

Just trying to be fully transparent here.

But see that's the thing.

Depending on the cap of course, Onsite might take all of them the day before.

You mean the California parks that were the last ones on all of earth to re-open post-Covid? And the state that Disney just moved Imagineering out of?
