We were recently at the world and both times we checked in we were asked for a photo id and they mentioned that we had an AP rate. They asked to see 1 ap.

I have had an AP for four years and was only asked to show it at a resort once (at CBR).

We were just asked to show our AP the first week in January.

Checked into two resorts in Mid January with AP rates and wasn't asked either time. I even asked if they needed to see it and both CMs said no.

If you already have AP's or AP voucher you are in their computer.

Disney has everything in their computer. Haven't you noticed that when you call for ressies and they already know all about you? :earboy2:

I wish they seemed to know stuff about me. Everytime I call I have to answer the same questions and it's getting kind of old...For example if my phone number gave them access to my file, then why ask where I'm staying and when I arrive.I've been there numerous times and had a Disney wedding but CM's never mention anything about knowing anything about me. (I'm grumpy tonight :) )

That isn't quite true. When I purchased vouchers at the Disneystore I was never asked who they were for. Never even had to give them names for any of the 3 I bought. Therefore they didn't have the names of the people I gave them to in any computer. Still they never asked to see anything when I checked in. I've used my AP probably 6 times and have never been asked for it.

When you buy the vouchers they don't ask you for this information, but they should ask you for it when you actually activate the passes. I know we've always been asked for each member of my family. I'm sure this info is important for many reasons, not the least of which is that you'll miss out on the mailings if they don't have it!

Yes they do ask when the passes are actually activated. The poster remarked that they also know when you just have vouchers which is not true. As far as activating them I didn't do that until AFTER I had checked in the first time so they had no record that I even had an AP voucher. They relied on what CRO put in the computer which was only based on my word.

This is true for many things...mainly previous stays. But I do not know if they have the AP info in there, as we have AP's and they have asked for them in the past. It is humorous though, as when I called last week to make a ressie, the CM stated precisely the # of previous times we have stayed with Disney Resorts!! :rotfl2: They have our entire history in their files!! :earseek: That's a LOT of info!

Actually AP vouchers should be activated before checking into your resort so the name is on them and they can check them upon checking in. If you are arriving early or late, you may do this at Downtown Disney Guest Relations from 8:30 am until 11 pm at the Marketplace and 9:30 am until 11:30pm at the WestSide location.

When I checked in the WL Jan 9th, I told the CM I only had my voucher and asked if she needed to see it or the receipt for it and she said no. When I checked into the AKL Jan 13th, I was asked for the AP and a picture ID. I also had the DDE e-mail and I was asked several times for picture ID (and once for my AP) when I used it. Yesterday I booked three tours for my May trip using the AP discount. When I asked if she needed the #'s from my AP she said no, but I may need to show it when I got there and would definitely need to show a picture ID. It sounds like they may be cracking down.

We checked into 3 different resorts this trip, Jan 20-31 and we had to show our AP at check-in at ALL 3 resorts. We also used our DDE letter and was only asked to show AP ID at one place.

Recently we have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter, Port Orleans Riverside, Contemporary Concierge and Polynesian Concierge....every check in except the CR wanted to see ID and a Passholder.

It is true if you order your voucher from WDW or DVC.

Yes but the Disneystore used to sell vouchers. I bought mine there and you did not have to give them anyone's name. I even used my DC discount and got many AP vouchers for family and friends all the time.

I have purchased an AP via the DVC website which is directly linked to WDW.com, paid just about $300 for it, have a voucher, and an email confirmation in hand, you mean to tell me that at 9:30pm at night, I have to have Tiffany Towncar stop at Downtown Disney so I can take my 3 kids out of the car (no other parent), leave all of luggage with the Tiffany Towncar driver, and run to Guest Relations at Pleasure Island so I can activate my voucher, so I can check in at the Wilderness Lodge after 10pm at night and POSSIBLY be asked for my actual AP? :confused3

For the first time in my life, I am not going to sweat what "might" happen. I'm going to be taking 2 planes to get to DisneyWorld with a 12, 9, and 4 year old, a stroller, luggage, carry ons and no DH. I will arrive at MCO at 8:40 at night with my purchased AP in hand, my DVC membership card, and hopefully some pixie dust. I'm going to check in at the WL. If my voucher is not enough, they WILL give me my room so I can put my luggage down and then I'll take the bus, WITHOUT my luggage to Downtown Disney, where I'll activate the darn AP at Guest Relations and then I'll present it to the front desk. HOWEVER, it would be a lot nicer if they'd just let me take my children for a dip in the hot tub instead of SHLEPPING to DD to activate an expensive park pass that I've obviously truly purchased.

Gosh I hope my DVC Studio comes through on the wait list so I don't even have to deal with AP rates/codes. I do not miss this! And shame on me for planning such a last minute trip on such a popular weekend and not being able to get one of my beloved studios!

I doubt you will have a problem Divamom. I think you're already in the "system" since you ordered through DVC. Worse case might be if you have to stop by after you activate the pass. Also some people have reported being told that the resorts will have APs now too so perhaps you will be able to exchange your voucher at checkin.

Skiwee I understood that you had purchased AP vouchers without giving info at a Disney Store. You did mention that. It's just that you also said that it was not true that WDW knew when you had a voucher. In your case that was accurate, but for others it is not. And I think WDW's ststems are interfacing better. When I ordered an AP renewal through DVC last week, the CM knew that only our son's APs was expiring.

ITA with you. Even if they are now requesting to see the AP at check-in more frequently than they did in the past (which I don't disagree with), your voucher will be enough to get you your room. Worst case scenario is that they ask you to return and show them the activated pass before the end of your stay. I personally don't have enough money to just buy an AP voucher, and not activate it but use it over and over for room discounts :teeth: So they gotta figure that if you've got a voucher, chances are you're going to activate it that trip.

Some have mentioned that you can activate at the Disney store at MCO, but with a town car driver waiting for you, you don't have that option.

I think Disney just rightfully wants to stop people from making AP ressies when they don't have one. As an AP holder that can't always get the rooms, this can only benefit me. I don't think they're too concerned over the voucher issue.

Have a great trip!
