In and Out in a Day

Happy Friday girls,

Marilyn ~ Ethan is still in flag football but he loves to tackle. His Dad is on him all the time that he can't do that yet. ;)

Nan ~ Happy Birthday!! I hope you have a great day!!

Dinner last night was wonderful. She fixed spaghetti with a homemade sauce with hamburger and her garden - tomatoes, onions, green peppers. It was delicious.

We are headed to Kearney - not Lincoln. Can you believe it, we have a bye week - tomorrow as Doug Jay and Marty are watching the kids so Elizabeth, Stephanie and I are going on to Hastings to a big craft fair called The Barn. I can't wait!! Hope to get my Christmas shopping started.

Tonight Doug is going over to the Parsonage to install a new kitchen faucet and then we are taking Pastor Dyton and Tammy to the winery. They haven't been yet and that needs to remedied tonight. 0

WFDT ~ Finger food at the winery and wine!!

Make it a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Good Monday morning! Ladies, I agree with you about the little ones playing sports. :goodvibes They make my heart sing! I missed Nola's first soccer game, but she was so excited to tell me she made five goals! Yes...she said five! Mom told me it was one and it was for the other team :cheer2: ;) so they celebrated by going out for ice cream. Nola is a good sport!

Ellen- your weekends are always chock full! I wish I had that energy!

Marilyn- yes, people forget that sports are more than winning and losing. I remember when Deb was in the All Stars, she was about 12 or so. Gail and I refused to sit close to parents in the team because they would try to rattle members of the other team, boo them and basically make a ruckus. These were kids! It was disgraceful!

Thank you all for the Happy Birthday wishes! I had a lovely weekend, starting in Thursday at e Big E. I got an awesome new set of cookware, that was badly needed. Buddy said he cannot understand why I thought it was a great gift, but Marisa reminded him how I was wicked excited over last years iron :goodvibes

I have a lot of homework this week, so I may be spotty, but I will be checking in!

have a glorious day!

Nancy- happy belated birthday!!! New cookware sounds like a fantastic gift. Glad you had fun at the big E, I've never been but I've heard it's huge.

Ellen- sounds like you had another fantastic weekend, hope you made a dent in your Christmas shopping. In the summer here there are always craft fairs, some people have some pretty impressive work.

Well it's pretty obvious I've been lousy at checking in, but I know have three days off a week so hopefully that will free up some time. I haven't had three days off since May, it's going to feel like a vacation! I wonder how Kathy is doing, I think she was going to start her new schedule in the fall

Hi Robin! It is so nice to see you! I don't know how you would have checked in much, you were running between two jobs! Take advantage of your three days and relax!

It is gorgeous in New England today! I hear we will be having this lovely weather until the end of next week, so I am thrilled!

I didn't realize you could get cookware at the Big E. One year I want to go to the Big E just to see it. "Wicked excited" over an iron. :rotfl:

I like craft fairs. We also had summer ones where I grew up.

I've been lousy at checking in also. I've also wondered how Kathy was doing.

Three days off every week sounds nice! I am looking forward to my next three day weekend. I've been looking forward to it since Labor Day. :upsidedow

It was not gorgeous here today. 85 degrees and really humid, then a downpour that finally broke the humidity some. Supposed to be more of the same tomorrow.

Bethany-sure you can get cookware. You can get just about anything, toys, crafts, kitchen gadgets, spas, air purifiers. I am a cheapie, but when buddy is there, we get one big purchase a year. I love the better living center almost as much as the food booths. And no one loves the food more than buddy!

Morning Girls,

I had every intention of being here yesterday but alas it didn't happen. Last week was truly a week from he**. I am so glad I don't have those very often. Yesterday didn't start off much better. We had a funeral here in the morning with a new Courtesy Chairman and she had NO idea what to do. Plus the Sound tech person was sick, so I had to pinch hit. By the time it was over and everything was back to normal it was 3:00 p.m. and I hadn't even started my work. Needless to say I didn't get home till almost 5:30. Today is nice and quiet here, so I am going to try to catch up.

Nan ~ I think I need to look into the "Big E". Never heard of it. Must be an East coast thing. Yea, for the cookware. My family knows to NEVER give me kitchen or house things - UNLESS I ask for them. I usually want something for me that I would never buy for myself. I am kind of spoiled like that. ;) :rotfl2: Good for you!!

Bethany ~ hey you!! Ya'll are really having some nice weather. Enjoy it!

Robin ~ Good for you and your day off. You my friend, so deserve it. I love 3 days off at a time. I don't get them often but when I do - I love it!!

Kat ~ I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. How is Kyle feeling?

I just got a phone call from the funeral home - another funeral tomorrow and Pastor Dyton just came into my office and he got a call from a son of a member that his Mother is not well. Oh my when it rains it pours. We haven't had a funeral in 5 months. I guess we are making up for it now. 0

WFDT ~ Chicken pot pie and a green salad.

Make it a great day.

Ellen- it looks like you are in for another rough week! I don't know how you do it, but I am not surprised that you carry it off so well. Please take care no tto overdo, though.
The Big E is a New England thing, and even though it started as an agricultural fair, it really has blossomed into so much more. I do have some photos though, and I will post them on FB. I took some of the FFA exhibits, the Belgium Horse showings and the Clydesdales, as well as a few of the other exhibits that take place. Buddy does not really like that is has moves so far from its rots, so he wanted to go to the Berlin fair this weekend, but it is not looking like we will be able to make it. We are now shooting for the Riverton Fair in a few weeks. It is the last one, I think, and it packs a lot into a very little space. Think oxen pulls, tractor pulls, pie eating contests, .........and fair food!

Marisa and I are working on a test today. :crazy2:

Nancy- I have to say the riverton fair you described sounds a lot more fun than the big e. Maybe if the big e was closer it would appeal to me more. It just sounds overwhelming.

Ellen- I'm sorry you had a tough week, I really don't know how you do it. You are one amazing lady!

Bethany- everything in New England is "wicked." It's funny because it can be a wicked bad storm, but like today, it's a wicked nice day.

Well I'm enjoying another wonderful day off. I think I'm going to have lunch and then maybe go for a bike ride.

Burritos for dinner, the kiddo has been asking for them and I finally remembered to buy everything

Hello.

Ellen- my boys have only ever played tackle, no way were they playing flag. ;):rotfl:

I was going to tell you all about my extreme couponing. We have several stores here that do specials when it come to coupons. One is doing double up to $1 until 12/28 and another does periodic specials. For one week they will do triple to 99 cents then about 4 to 6 weeks later they do double to $2.

Now I haven't done one of those pay $25 for $500 worth of stuff yet, and I also haven't bought things I really don't use like diapers and I don't have kids things, but I've gotten some good amounts off. This last time at the $1 double store I got over $200 worth of groceries for around $65. ::yes:: Some of the best buys were the different types of microwave noodle things that I got for free.

Although my best purchase to date has been the Scotch Expressions tapes that I got on clearance at Target. They were 60 cents and I had $1 off each. They took the entire $1 off not just 60 cents, so I got "paid" 40 cents for each one. :woohoo:

Most of the stuff I am buying is going to be divided between my nieces, godsons and the local food bank. The tape is for the youngest DN for Christmas.

Air purifiers? :rotfl: This kid at work asked the other day about the air quality in NYC. She said she has heard the air quality is better up north. :confused3 Now it all makes sense...selling air purifiers near the deep fried twinkies and the 4H goats. I'll just need to go see it for myself. Next year....maybe.

Sorry your week was so rough.

Our weather isn't great. Not horrible, but it keeps storming on and off and it's not particularly comfortable. They're also watching some area of interest in the Gulf.

I'm looking forward to the photos. I hope the test went well.

The term wicked amuses me. I have heard it multiple times but am generally incapable of using it correctly. I think it's hysterical Nancy described her iron as wicked awesome. Then again, I typically use my air fluff setting on my dryer to avoid as much ironing as possible. :rolleyes1

A bike ride sounds nice! Did you go? Are the trees colorful yet by you?

Happy hump day my friends.

Nan ~ The Big E sounds like fun. Our fairs are over here for the year. I love them though from the big State Fairs to the small County Fairs.
Hope the test went good.

Robin ~ I love that you are enjoying your days off. Sounds like you have been able to recharge the batteries. I totally need some down time, hopefully this weekend. It won't be a lazy weekend but it will be fun.
Thanks for the nice compliment but it really is just part of my job. Some weeks are just busier than others. ;)

Marilyn ~ WOW!!! You really are the coupon queen. You have done good my friend.
Ethan loves to tackle but the program with the Y only is flag football. Ethan is only 9 so tackle is not good yet. Next year he can do CFI and they are full pads and helmets. He can't wait!!

Bethany ~ you are "wicked" funny.

We have a funeral this morning and late yesterday we were notified that another lady passed and her funeral will be on Friday. That will make 3 in 5 days - oh my :crazy2: I hope it is the morning as I have taken the afternoon off to head to Lincoln. I am not in charge of the sound or the lunch but I am not holding my breath that I won't be needed. :rolleyes1

WFDT ~ Bacon Cheeseburgers, with chips and my new canned applesauce.

Make it a great day all.

Morning girlies,

I really don't know what to do about tomorrow. The Lunch Chairperson is being a real bi***. She is a sub teacher at the HS and has a job for tomorrow. That I completely understand. But it is up to her to get her kitchen help, salads and meat ordered. She is doing nothing!!! I am not the one in charge but if we have no meal that will be awful and not look good for our Church. I don't know if I should go ahead and do it - for the family - or not. I need to make a decision real soon though. I just can't believe she is doing this. She has hurt a lot of peoples feelings over this.

It was 84 degrees here yesterday, thunderstorms, high winds and rain last night. It is cool and cloudy this morning but still to get in the 70's. But get this ----- a cold front is coming through tonight and there is a Winter Storm warning for the Panhandle. They are to get 8" -12" of snow. Only in Nebraska. :dance3:

We have a game in Lincoln on Saturday - We play Illinois. The temp. at kickoff is to be 48 degrees. Burrrrrrrrr :crazy2: I am a fair weather fan - I think I will offer to stay with Lilly and watch it on TV. ;)

WFDT~ Pumpkin pancakes with Maplewood bacon and a hot spice tea.

Make it a great day.

Ellen- I would take the high road and order the lunch. I don't know why people sign on for these positions and then fall short, but these actions are never unnoticed. It is a shame that her failings are falling on you though. Of all the people to let down, I cannot imagine that under these circumstances. Terrible woman!

Ellen - How did it go today? Also, I saw Nebraska got some really ugly weather. I don't know where it was in relation to you, but I hope it didn't affect you or your family.

Morning Girlies,

Nan ~ I did get the lunch ordered and it went off without a hitch. I had some ladies really step up. Bless their hearts!! We really do have a great group of people - but there is always one that spoils the bunch. ;)

Bethany ~ Last Friday was a wicked weather day here in Nebraska. It started on Thursday night. There were tornados in the eastern part. We got some nasty thunder, lightening, and winds but no real bad weather at our place. Friday we went into Lincoln and there were tornado warnings all around us. It did hit a town North of Lincoln and then get this - the Western part was under a blizzard warning. There were counties that got more than a foot of snow. ONLY in Nebraska :confused3

Busy busy day and week.

I have a Dr. appointment in Omaha tomorrow so I won't be here at all. Stephanie and Lilly are going to join us. I am so looking forward to it. After my appointment we will go eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum!!

I hope everyone has a good day and the weather is good. I will be back with you all on Wednesday.

WFDT ~ Pork Loin, roasted potatoes and creamed corn.

Good Morning girls! I apologize for my long absence, but I am having a horrible week! Long story, but what started as a lovely weekend ended up with me looking like an oompa loompa! I got into something, either when I was working in the yard or when we went to the Harwinton Fair. Either way, I was in the Urgent Care on Sunday, all jacked up with a steroid shot and pills, and it went downhill from there.

Ellen- I saw the weather and was . It is going to be crazy! I knew you would get the luncheon done, but I get so upset that people fall back on their responsibilities and leave it to others. How would they feel????

Today I have a long day, homework and then I am starting to seal teh front porch, and then Church of an hour for a prayer vigil, and then school until 10.

I hop eall is well with all of you!

Yikes Nancy, oompa loompa is not a good look for anyone! I hope you aren't too uncomfortable. I have the tiniest bit of poison ivy and it just won't go away. Sorry you have to top it off with such a long day.

Ellen- I hope you had a good day even if it involved a doctor appointment. You always seem to make the best of those trips.

Well I have been enjoying more time off than I had originally planned and I am getting so much done around the house and yard. It is just warm enough to have all the windows open during the day, but we need to close them at night. And the sunshine has been awesome. This is truly a spectacular fall. Today I'm going to take full advantage of it and go cranberry picking. You don't get much more Cape Cod than that!

Meatloaf, acorn squash and something else for dinner. Have a great day all!

Hi girls,

Nan ~ Oh my sweetie, I feel so bad for you. Have you figured out what you got into? I so hope you are feeling better now.
Your day is jam packed, I hope you enjoy it.

Robin ~ What a glorious day you are having. I would give anything to be able to go cranberry picking. How fun!! I am very jealous of your time off and all you are getting done. I so need to get some stuff done in my yard and house but I never seem to be home long enough to do it. I need to change this!!!

Glad yesterday is over. It is a needed procedure but is very painful. Oh well, thank God there is something that can be done and I only have to go 3 times a year.

We had a really good time after my appointment. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory and saved room for a piece of Pumpkin Pecan cheesecake (actually Stephanie and I split it). YUM!! Then we shopped till we dropped. Good retail therapy. We headed back to Lincoln and took Matthew to dinner at Red Robin. I love their Guac. burgers. We took off for home around 6:30 and Lilly cried pretty much the whole way. Bless her heart. She was DONE sitting in the car seat. Finally went to sleep about 30 minutes from home. We got home around 10:00 pm. It was a long day but a fun one also.

WFDT ~ Beef Stroganoff, fresh beets and cucumber salad.

Make it a great day!

Ellen- What a day! I wish that you did not need to have the procedure, but if you have to go through with it, thank goodness you shop it off afterwards! It does sound like a nice day! Kady was a lot like Lily. Enough was enough! and I do not blame her. Nola and Rylee have been calling since Nola was old enough to complain about shopping, and they stay with me ;) SInce I ma in school, Buddy pinch hits at night so they are not tortured into shopping with Mom :rotfl2:
I have no idea what I got into, but Welby told me that there is a big fat white caterpillar thing around that when it touches yo, you react like i did. I guess that the toxins are so bad that kids are being hospitalized. I know that I felt something stinging me in my arms and face, but I did not see any bites.

A little Mom brag, if you don't mind :wizard: Marisa was invited into Phi Theta Kapa! I hope she takes advantage, it will open doors for her!

I am off tomorrow, and hope that I can get more sealing done on the porch. I worked a little while today, but I wanted to make a dent in my homework, so I am behind.

No cooking or me, Buddy is staying with Kady tonight, and he takes her to dinner. She has pictures tomorrow, so he will stay at her house, instead of taking her here for the night. I have her bed all turned down, and her pillows all fluffied out, so I just shut the door for the next time, so Baxter does not climb on her sheets. Its bad enough that he sleeps on her comforter

have a great day!
