In and Out in a Day

Morning, all! It was a fun night, last night! Our temperature was a balmy 68 degrees while the kids were out trick or treating! Love it!!! All my little chickies had a great time and were home and in bed by 10:00. Katie had our permission to stay out later, but came home by 10. The Dr. Who marathon she was watching with friends got a little scarier than she thought it would!

Today is a marathon sewing day for me. I have to fit and alter about 26 dresses for the play. I'm not a great seamstress, so this is really stressful for me! Wish me luck!

I'm still pretty sick. I think I'll try to head in to the doctor before going to the high school. I just can't shake this sore throat. Awful!

No idea on dinner. Alan works late, and I've got costumes to worry about, so it may be a cold cereal night for us.

Morning ladies,

I am so thankful you all are alright. As Kat said property can be replaced you all can't. Prayers for all of you trying to get back to normal, even if that might be a "new" normal.

Bethany ~ I feel so sorry for you. I know how hard this must be. I sure have been thinking of you.

Nan ~ Bless your heart. You are the most caring person. Always thinking of the other person. I so admire you!!

PIO ~ Safe travels my friend.

Kat ~ I have thought of you with all of this. I was wondering if you were having flash backs. Bless your heart!! If anyone knows how they feel it is you. You are such a strong woman, I am proud to call you my friend.

Glynis ~ Sounds like a trip to the doctor is in order. That sore throat has hung on to long.
I love all of your Halloween outfits. How cute, you all dress up.
Good luck with the alterations today.

As we live in the country we again went into Jay and Elizabeth's for dinner and trick or treating. They were at their new house so it was fun to have different kids at the door. Jay and Doug wanted to stay home and give out candy so Elizabeth and I took the boys around. The weather was beautiful - didn't even wear a coat. We were out and about for about 1 1/2 hours. We had a ball and stopped to talk to friends about every 5 feet. Ethan was begging to go home by this time. :rotfl: Jay was keeping track and they had over 200 trick or treaters. How fun!!

WFDT ~ Loaded Baked Potato soup and Beer bread

Make it a great day all!!

Marilyn - I am amazed at how fast the power was restored! Our electric company could certainly learn a thing or two from them.:rolleyes1

Her area didn't have a lot of outages. And our electric company learned their lesson after the deracho thingy. They got a lot of flack because it took up to two weeks in some areas to get electricity back on so they were a lot more proactive.

Marilyn- I saw you did not have Halloween. I miss your decorations. :sad1: After last year I just could not bring myself to put mine outside.

I did try to go to our storage place to pull some of the stuff we use in the windows but could not get to the boxes. A lot of people asked my DM where the decorations were. :sad1:

I really have to go over and organize that place. There is stuff that needs to be gone through and it needs to be put in better order. My DM's organization skills are not the best. :headache: If I could get her to empty all the closets of excess junk we could get rid of the storage place.

Good morning ladies,

Merle ~ Getting rid of stuff can be tough sometimes. There are still boxes of my Mommas that I really do need to go through but just keep putting it off. Some day I will, just not ready to yet. So I completely understand.

Hi to everyone else that comes along later. :goodvibes

We are in a fog alert this morning. I had a heck of a time getting to work. The Farmers Almanac says that you can count 6 weeks from a fog and you will get snow. If that is the case we are in for a rocky winter. We have had fog quite a bit this fall. I am not complaining though as we sure could us the moisture.

WFDT ~ Butterfly pork chops, dressing, creamed corn and sliced tomatoes.

Make it a great day all!!

Glynis - Good luck with the sewing! I can't thread a needle so I am in awe.:thumbsup2

Ellen - Thank you very much for the kind words. I have never thought of myself as strong. When I look back on what we faced in '05 and when I speak to those who are victims of Sandy I tell them that they will be amazed at their own strength. Truly, it is a gift from God.

Going out to diner tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Game day. Last game of the regular season. Last night I finished baking the last of the almost 19 dozen cookies. :scared: I always make three batches and end up with around 13 to 14 dozen.

With the recipe I made this time I usually use my medium scoop as they don't spread much and the recipe has more volume but I couldn't find it so I used the small one. Ended up with way more cookies and was hoping I had enough to give all the boys 4 instead of the normal 3. However they pulled up a bunch of Junior Varsity players so I needed to make more bags.

Thank goodness I couldn't find my scoop. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I'm in NorCal and checking in very intermittently. Having a great time. Today, I'm chasing monarch butterflies and coastlines. Heading to Santa Cruz. :thumbsup2

Have a great day all.

Good morning Girls,

Kat ~ Your dinner out sounded so good. I hope you enjoyed it.

Merle ~ You are such a good Aunt. That is a lot of cookies. But if you are anything like me - you throughly enjoyed doing it.

PIO ~ Sounds like you have a nice day planned.

Our Church Auction was yesterday. Wow, what fun!!! We probably made $7000 + for our Mission Shares. We had a wonderful meal at lunch then the auction started at noon. We were finished by 3. Doug and I went home, got our jammies on and watched mindless TV. We both had a bowl of cold cereal for dinner. Nice evening!!

Back to work this morning. As soon as I get off of work I am heading to Kearney to see Lilly. It has been over a week  :( and I am needing a Lilly fix real bad. Doug has community choir tonight, Marty is away all week on a job, so I am taking the girls out to dinner then I expect to spend the rest of the evening snuggling with my princess. I can't wait!!

WFDT ~ humm....I really don't know. Whatever Stephanie wants - I am good with anything as long as I see the girls I am a happy camper.

Make it a great day everyone!!!

I'm here. I picked up a computer virus so I just have my iPod for now. It's kind of a pain to post from.
Nothing exciting going on here, just starting to plan my thanksgiving menu. My inlaws are bringing the turkey (weird thing to bring I think) so that frees up all that oven space.
Not sure what's for dinner- I guess some things never change. Have a great day all!

PIO - So glad to hear you're having a great time, ENJOY!!!!:thumbsup2

Ellen - Congrats on the church auction, that's a lot of money in 3 hours!!! Enjoy your Lilly fix.:cloud9:

Robin - Sorry to hear you got bitten by a cyber bug. They are such a PITA! I'd love to see your Thanksgiving menu. Just finished up mine today...

Roast turkey & gravy
Emeril's cranberry sauce
Cornbread, oyster and andouille stuffing
Spicy sweet potato casserole
Baked Mac & Cheese
Brussels sprouts with pancetta

So after all of those calories are consumed I'm planning a low-fat pumpkin cake bar dessert...

Hi All! Sorry I havent been around much. All is good here. My one sister still doesn't have power but no damage so all is pretty good in NJ.

Marilyn, Wow, You're the cookie queen!

PIO, Have fun!

Kat, That recipe looks amazing! I am still working on a Thanksgiving menu. My sister Pat is coming and her one daughter has celiacs so I have to be careful.

Here is what I am thinking:

Appetizers:
Spicy Spanish Shrimp and crusty bread
Antipasto
Arugula Pear Salad with Pomegranate Vinaigrette and goat cheese
mini crab cakes

Dinner:
Cider Brined Turkey, gravy
Peach Cranberry Sauce
Sausage dressing
Carrot turnip mash
Bourbon Sweet Potatoes
Green bean casserole (I love this stuff)
French green beans for those that do not like the casserole
Mashed potatoes
Other vegetables: carrots, corn, brussel sprouts (I like lots of veggies on Thanksgiving)

Desserts: Not decided yet. I think Patty is bringing pies.

Dinner tonight is chicken pot pie and tossed salad. Ive been using a new pie recipe from Pinterest and we love it!

I hope everyone is doing well. Hugs to all! xx

Where is everyone? Hoping all of our ladies in the northeast are doing well. I continue to pray for everyone.

Marilyn -That's a lot of cookies!!:faint:

Yesterday I made a new dish I saw on the Food Network and it was amazing!!

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/daube-a-la-provencale-recipe/index.html

::yes:: They lost the game but are in the playoffs and but because they lost, their next game is an away game. I only make cookies for away games. :faint: Little rats! :rotfl: If they had won they would have gotten to play at home.

And oh what a game it was. One of the other teams players broke his leg, one of ours hurt his leg, not broken, and another of ours may have a concussion. He was weaving a little bit when he got back to the school. Then to top it off one of our boys got mad about a ref call, got ejected for his behavior then the ref allegedly called him a retard. Hoping if that is true he will no longer be a ref in this county.

Morning Girls,

Kat ~ Your menu sounds amazing. To be truthful, I really haven't even thought about it yet. It will be at my SIL's, so I have no idea what I will be bringing. I am sure she will let me know pretty soon. ;)

Robin ~ That is the pits about the computer virus. I hate it when that happens. I try really hard to change my password regularly, and that has seemed to help alot.

Lauren ~ Wow what a wonderful meal you are planning. I assume there will be quite a few for that day. That is quite a spread. I love it!! Can I crash it??

Merle ~ So it looks like you are making more cookies. :cool1:
I CERTAINLY hope that ref. is no longer around kids. Shame on him!!

I got to Kearney as Stephanie was pulling in the driveway. I went to the door and I thought Lilly Bug was going to jump out of her car seat. Her little legs were just going and she was squealing. I really think she knew her Nanny was there. We spent the next 4 hours playing. I gave her her bath and bottle, fed her her dinner and rocked her to sleep. :cloud9: Not a better way to spend an evening. I am so thankful that I can see her whenever I want.

It is a beautiful day in my neighboorhood today. The skies are such a pretty blue and the sun is shining. A bit of a chill in the air, but afterall it is November.

WFDT ~ Beef Stroganuff, roasted beets and little trees.

Make it a great day!!

Hello Ladies!

Marilyn, I hope that ref gets kicked out! Ridiculous that an adult speak like that in front of kids.

Ellen, I am glad you get to see Lily so often. Family time is special :cloud9:

PIO glad you are enjoying your vacation!

Kathy you will have to let us know how you liked that garlic chicken. I am still looking for the perfect 40-clove garlic chicken.

Not much is new around here. It is cold, and there's a noreaster scheduled to hit tomorrow, ugh.

Good Morning. Hope everyone is doing well, keeping warm and our east coast ladies fare well with the nor'easter coming. NJ is already evacuating parts again. :(

We are all good. I've had a terrible sinusy migrainey headache for 2 days. It is pretty mild this morning so fingers crossed.

I brought Andrew for his suit yesterday. His formal is Saturday. All along I thought he was going by himself and then yesterday he springs on me that he is going as friends with an ex. I dont mind, I really liked this girl. She's a cougar, a junior! :lmao: If this kid keeps growing, I am not going to be able to find him long sleeve shirts anymore.

Dinner tonight is leftovers or grilled cheese and soup. We decide whatever we want later.

I thnk I am going to change some of my thanksgiving menu. Just to make it a bit easier with the appetizers. Maybe just shrimp cocktail and some crab dip so I do not have to use the stove any more than I have to. And I was looking at the salad and it looks like to many steps involved so I will ease that up a bit.

Anybody have a tried and true crab dip recipe?

Kat, how was that new recipe?

::yes:: They lost the game but are in the playoffs and but because they lost, their next game is an away game. I only make cookies for away games. :faint: Little rats! :rotfl: If they had won they would have gotten to play at home.

And oh what a game it was. One of the other teams players broke his leg, one of ours hurt his leg, not broken, and another of ours may have a concussion. He was weaving a little bit when he got back to the school. Then to top it off one of our boys got mad about a ref call, got ejected for his behavior then the ref allegedly called .

Good luck to the boys and for you making cookies! I would love to see their faces as you walk in with those treats for them. So nice of you. That ref, no words.

Morning Girls,

Lauren ~ Wow what a wonderful meal you are planning. I assume there will be quite a few for that day. That is quite a spread. I love it!! Can I crash it??

Make it a great day!!

So nice that you had a successful auction! Please feel free to come for Thanksgiving! The more the merrier!

Oh my, what sweetness! So glad you got some great Lily time!

Hello Ladies!

Not much is new around here. It is cold, and there's a noreaster scheduled to hit tomorrow, ugh.

Stay warm and be safe!

OK, I must go. I have to go play Cars on the Xbox. I love playing with Thomas but this is one game that I cannot stand. I thought I would never lay a hand on the Xbox controller, other than picking them up to put away, and now I have to. I am not good at it and I get so anxious playing that it stresses me out! :rolleyes1

Have a great day all!

Good Morning!

Marilyn- Cookie Queen :thumbsup2 Yup- it fits!

Ellen- I loved your Lillibug story! There is something so special about rocking a sweet baby to sleep :cloud9:

Kat- I like ALton's garlic chicken too!

Becky- we are supposed to get sleet and snow this afternoon. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! It sure feels like a storm is on the way

Lauren- i always farm out appetizers on Holidays.

So I have no Thanksgiving meal to plan...............we are having Polynesian...........at the Poly! We are going to the luau for dinner that night. It is our fist night and it is a room only so no dining plan. Marisa and Jeff wanted the luau so it was a nice night for it. We hope to see Wishes from the beach after dinner. Unless I fall asleep ;)

Nancy. I like your thanksgiving better! I always had fun at the luau! I would farm out appetizers but patty is driving here the morning of thanksgiving so I want to make it easy for her.

Stay safe today.
