In and Out in a Day

A quick check in since I haven't done so in a few days.

Tonight is college info nite for Mr A. It seems so wrong to be talking about him and college in the same sentence. :scared1:

Aimee I know you don't want another surgery but don't play with bone infections. I had an infection in my jaw a couple of years ago. it was the worst. I couldn't open my mouth more than a few inches. I am praying that they can get the infection under control. Do you have an option of using a hyperbaric chamber?

Bethany I put down laminate flooring. I use a steam cleaner (shark) that I like much more than cleaners.

Ok out for now and back to workpirate:

Morning, all. Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. Got hit with some bug that was nasty, and made me all kinds of sick! Anyway, I'm feeling much better, now.

Katie made tomato soup for the kids last night, bless her! Luckily, she didn't have rehearsal, otherwise Jacob would have pulled cold cereal out of the cupboard for everyone!

Dinner tonight will be cashew chicken in the crockpot. I just need to run to the store for cashews!

Just a quick jump in and out.

A rather frantic day at work and I'm wiped out. Thankfully, I get to stay home tomorrow so I'm hoping to do some Dis-sing. Will catch up with all the news then.

Have a great day all.

Wow, I guess I'm a little slow on finding you guys! After WFD fell apart, I pretty much stopped coming here and just stumbled on this thread this morning when I recognized the names. I can't promise I'll be around much, turns out I get a lot more done when I walk away from the computer, but it sure is good to "see" everyone again. I hope everyone is well. Things are pretty crazy here (as I'm sure they are for everyone!) but it's a good crazy. Missed you guys!

Good Morning!

Kat, Thanks for the good wishes for A. He liked it and this gives him a good opportunity to interact with the HS coach and upper classmates. He didnt make that travel team that he tried out for (they kept the old team intact) but we didnt know the HS had fall ball so it all happened for a reason. The field the HS plays on is the field the minor league team in town uses and it is gorgeous. Really exciting!

Your dinner looks yummy! Someone in my family that is very picky :rolleyes1always makes a face when I make pork but I found a few recipes that he doesnt complain about (Alton browns coffee molasses, brined - like you mentioned to me a few times, and those premarinated tenderloins).

Glynis, glad you are feeling better!

Janice, Have fun later! You have a bright, handsome boy that will go far. I know you are proud!

Aimee, I hope you got good news at dr!

Ellen, Yay for Elizabeth and JaY!

Dinner tonight is steak fajitas, rice and homemade salsa! I am using some tomatoes from the garden. It is on the stove now evaporating so liquid out and smells so good! Here is the recipe:

http://vespawoolf.hubpages.com/hub/The-Best-Homemade-Mexican-Salsa-Recipe

Tommy the terror (yes, I mean that...he exhausts me!) is still sleeping so I better get some stuff done. We need to go out and get a birthday present for the girl next door and then when Andrew gets home, we'll all go to the gym. Gotta get moving!

Have a great day all!

Hello ladies!

Kat I am glad you are feeling better!

Aimee I hope you got good news at the doctor's today. You must be so frustrated.

Ellen, congrats to Elizabeth and Jay on their new home. It is really great that they will stay so close by to you.

Bethany, I have had my pergo for about eight years now and it is not at all faded. I did have an issue at one point when the woman that cleans my house used some kind of cleaning product that built up on the floor. Getting that off was kind of a pain but if you use the pergo-approved cleaners you will be fine.

So we got home kind of late last night and had to unpack etc. so I just made a pizza for dinner since we were eating at 9 PM. Tonight I think I am making chicken picatta.

I am SO darn glad to see you Becky. You have really been missed. YEA, we can now have our wonderful food porn!!!!

Ellen - I'm a newbie when it comes to eating alligator. Johnny & Kyle have eaten quite a lot of it. I've only had it a handful of times and it was mostly fried or in a sausage. Taste is similar to rabbit but texture is more like beef.

I can only imagine how excited you are to have Elizabeth & Jay so close!

Does it taste like chicken? :rotfl:

A quick check in since I haven't done so in a few days.

I loved the senior pictures. What a handsome young man. You have done good Mom!!

WooHoo!! Hi!! I am so glad to see you. The gang is all here. I was thinking of you just the other day and wondering how you were and here you are. :cool1:

Lauren ~ So glad Mr A is playing ball. Good for him. How exciting.

PIO ~ I just knew you would do to much. Now please slow down and take care of yourself.

Bethany ~ good luck with the new floor. I am sure it will be wonderful.

Aimee ~ That is one nasty break. Please let us know what the Dr. said. Bless your heart!!

Glynis ~ Hope you feel better. Thank goodness for Katie. I am sure the kids would not have minded cold cereal from Jacob though. You have great kids!!

Guess What??!! It is sprinkling............only about 5 drops so far but maybe just maybe it will keep up. The temps are almost cold this morning. Only in the low 60's it feels glorious!! It was 98 here yesterday.

Thanks for the good wishes for my kids. This has been a long time coming and a really long road. We aren't going to believe it until they have the new keys. :lmao: But we are all just over the moon.

WFDT ~ Grilled pork chops, fresh green beans, and frog eye salad.

Make it a great day!!

Just a quick pop-in. I had my last sinus surgery follow-up at the ENT today. Everything looks good! I don't have to go back! party:

He did say my sinuses were inflamed from the mold. We did get all the carpet out of the house. It smells so much better in here and I'm not getting the headaches like I was. :thumbsup2 We still haven't picked out the new floor. The subfloor isn't ready for anything yet anyways, so it doesn't really matter.

I'll try to catch up more tomorrow or Friday. This week has been a little crazy. I think I've heard the phrase bless your/her/his heart more times in the past two days than the past two years combined. That's never a good sign. :rotfl:

WFD...we ended up at Popeyes because we had gone to the doctor's office across town and then the Lumber Liquidators. Then we got stuck in traffic and it took an hour to get home. For lunch, my DH had an MRE and I had Rice Krispies and a salad. :confused3 Everybody needs Rice Krispies in their lives sometimes. And alligator. The other white meat.

Kat - Alligator? I was offered crocodile today for lunch. I have to admit that I declined that particular protein. Apparently, reptile meat boiled up as a soup is supposed to be good for coughs. :confused3

Ellen -
{{Mom face on here}} ;)
{{Meek child face on here}} Yes, Mom....(but too late, she cried!!).
Congrats to Elizabeth and Jay for selling their house and moving closer to you.

Aimee - OMG! That x-ray looks awful. Look after yourself and I hope that you do what the doctor recommends.....(psst....Ellen....you need your Mom face here too!!). Hope it was good news with the doctor.

Becky - Your pizza meal sounds lovely.

Janice - Hope Mr A is settling into college.

Glynis - Glad you're feeling better.

Robin - I only 'found' this thread last week; so I'm as slow as you!

Lauren - Hope you made it to the gym and pulled up fine afterwards.

Bethany - YAY on the last sinus surgery. Glad that everything looks good that you don't have to go back.

It's Thursday here and I had lunch with my aunt today. To be perfectly honest, I could have done without the lunch date.....but I haven't seen my aunt in a while and was in her 'bad books' for the better part of this year. She only recently thawed her attitude towards me and I felt like I needed to stick to the engagement. Lunch turned out okay in the end.

Dinner tonight? I have no idea. But I know DH went to the local Middle Eastern shop near us and came home with humuos, pita bread, cabbage rolls and some zaatar. I suspect that we probably will be having some of that for dinner tonight.

Good Morning! Really quick in...

Chicken is on the stove simmering for chicken noodle soup. Need something easy since we have ball this afternoon.

I may get a chance to BBL. have a great day!

Janice – I find it hard to believe that Alex will soon be going to college. Where has the time gone?

Glynis – Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

Robin – Welcome back, we’ve missed you!!!!!!

Lauren – That salsa recipe sounds yummy!

Ellen – Glad to hear you got a little rain, hopefully more will come.

Bethany – Happy to hear you are cleared with the ENT!!

PIO – Sorry you had to endure an awkward lunch with your aunt but glad it went ok.

Dinner tonight will be Hungarian round steak, egg noodles and oven roasted carrots.

Morning, all! Quick pop in here!

Dinner plans changed last night, as Alan picked up an extra shift. I made tacos, instead of the cashew chicken. I knew the kids would eat it and not fuss. So, tonight will be the cashew chicken, since I really need to use the chicken up.

Have a great day, all!

Quick in and out

PIO College is fall of 2013 so one more year.

Kathy I wish I knew where the time goes. I could be rich. I would sell the secret:scratchin

I think chicken parm is on the menu

Out for now

Bethany, good news from the ENT. I hope the sugery helps your sinus issues. They can be such a pain (literally!) to deal with!

Ellen, did you end up getting more than a few drops of rain? I hope so! I have been following the drought and it is very disturbing. I think we are all going to see the effects in the price and availability of some foods this winter.

Kat, alligator is not something I have ever tried. I have to admit that I am not sure that I would! I have this weird thing about creatures that I am afraid of, like gators and sharks. I have this hope that if I don't eat them, they won't eat me!

Speaking of sharks, I have some interesting photos from a wildlife encounter on the Cape last weekend that I will put up here once I have them uploaded.

WFD: not sure. On Thursdays I have a CSA delivered to my house. In addition to fruits and vegetables, it includes meat, dairy, and fish. We always eat whatever the fish is on Thursday nights. I am never told in advance what is coming in the box, so Thursday dinner is a surprise! Since the CSA started I have gotten tuna, halibut, striped bass, jumbo shrimp, oysters, mussels, scallops, and bonito. Everything was great except the bonito which we disliked because it was so oily. I am kind of hoping that today is clams. I would love linguini with clams for dinner...

Aimee I know you don't want another surgery but don't play with bone infections. I had an infection in my jaw a couple of years ago. it was the worst. I couldn't open my mouth more than a few inches. I am praying that they can get the infection under control. Do you have an option of using a hyperbaric chamber?

OUcH!!!! Thankfully, the wound has stayed fairly superficial and he's confident it's going to stay that way. I figured with my luck, it'd go straight to the bone! If it was any deeper, he wanted to go in and clean it out and pack it. eek!

Wow, I guess I'm a little slow on finding you guys! After WFD fell apart, I pretty much stopped coming here and just stumbled on this thread this morning when I recognized the names. :cool1::cool1::cool1: Just what you needed to hear!!

Are y'all on a concrete slab?

Good news from the doctor! He feels like the cipro has done it's job and it looks much better. Still there, and it'll take time, but it's not as deep and inflammed. The xray is showing no signs of it going any deeper so we're fine to hold off on doing anything more. And, I can go down to 750mg of Cipro (half) which I hope helps me feel better.

The xray also looks good. Still broken but improving.

Tonight is summer turkey chili.

Ya'll have NO idea how excited I am that we are all posting again. There were many days that I was the only one that posted. Now I actually have to read back to catch up. WOOHOO :cool1: :goodvibes

Bethany ~ That is great news you got at the Doctor - "Bless your Heart" ;)

Aimee ~ Please please take care of that ankle. Do I need to put up my "Mom face"? What did the Doctor say? Edited to add**** We must have posted at the same time. Good news from the Dr. I am so happy for you.

PIO ~ Ok I hear ya, but please try to slow down and rest. I don't want to see you sick again. This has held on for way to long.

Kat ~ you have the BEST meals. I am so glad you are posting them again. Mine are so boring compared to yours.

Becky ~ Yes I am afraid we will all see higher prices at the grocery. We have a funeral today so I made a salad and was shocked at the price of Jello - .89. When in the world did that happen - just yesterday I got it for 4/$1. It always goes up but never goes back down.

Lauren and Glynis ~ :wave2: Hope you both have good days.

We got almost a 1/2" of rain yesterday. It was a true gift from heaven. It is still cool out today.

WFDT ~ Hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes, sliced tomatoes and stuffed celery.

Make it a great day.

Another quick check in. Kat, that salsa is soooooo good! Try it for football sometime. I didn't add cumin and just a slight squeeze of lime.

I made fajitas with the penzy fajita blend and they were really good. I am hooked on penzy spices! We have one in Pittsburgh

Hi Robyn!

Ellen yay for rain!

Hubs came downstairs this morning and said my soup smelled awesome. He asked are we having grilled cheese too?! Yeah he is one of those that does not think soup is dinner. Ugh! At least it's easy right.

Ok. We are at park while a is at practice but I think we can leave. He dad is here too and will take him home.

Have a great night. Yes, it's good to be posting again!!!

Good Morning! I am so sorry that I did not keep up. To be honest, I am a bit overwhelmed with school. I don't seem to absorb things like I used to and it is frustrating. I wish the DIS had a "like" button!

We had our monthly book club meeting last night. I hosted it, and we discussed "Huckleberry Finn". I had read it in high school, and didn't like it then, and it's still not one of my favorites! However, discussion with my friends helped me understand it a little better. The neat thing about last night was that we realized that it was out 10 year anniversary! I can't believe we've been meeting for 10 years! Crazy! I'm sure glad I have that outlet, though!!!
.

You have inspired Marisa and me! She is organizing a book club :thumbsup2 My Church has one and I was thinking of joining in but I really prefer Marisa and our friends. One of Marisa's friends has asked a woman who leads book clubs at the Library to join us!

Well the weekend is finally here. I only had a 4 day work week and I swear this week has been the longest ever. I have been just swamped at work so you would think it would have flown by. This is the week that everything has started back up in the Church. It has been great to see all of the kids back and the flurry of activity but WOW I haven't had one minute to play. Hopefully things will settle down some.

We are going to Doug's hometown for their big festival tomorrow. There is a parade at 11 and we are taking the boys. Then will play in the park. We have a game tomorrow night (UCLA) so we will be watching that with an anitpasta plate. Sunday we have to serve coffee fellowship after Church then we are serving for an Open House for our Organist that is moving. So busy weekend and this is the only weekend this month we will be home as the next 3 weekends are home games for the Cornhuskers and we will be in Lincon. Fun times!!

I hope that your work weeks are better! You are one busy woman at work and then your weekends are jampacked! I don't know how you manage to get everything done ans with such grace.

Have a fun weekend and don't overdo!!!!!

Try eating some chocolate for the cough. It coats your throat and make you feel good:love:

I have to tie someone down so we can order his senior pictures today.:rolleyes1

Chocolate! A woman who medicates just like me :goodvibes
Janice- where did the time go? Every time you post about A in his senior year I am taken back. He was so young when we all started posting.

I have a Hen Party tonight for a niece that's getting married. I'm having trouble feeling like this is a joyous thing, as my niece has never actually dated this man in person. They met at her brother's house in England, and they started dating over Skype. He can't move to the US, as he's has immigration troubles (was here as a child, illegally. Not his fault, his parents), so they've decided to marry in Wales and live there. However, because my niece has had some tax problems, she's not allowed to work, so she'll be stuck in a foreign country, with a husband she doesn't really know, no work, and no transportation, unless he buys her a bike to match his. Sigh! So many red flags for me! However, her parents are just glad that at 30 she's finally marrying. So, I have to put on a happy face and attend the Hen Party tonight.

Oh Glynis, this makes me so sad. I worry about a girl whose parents are more concerned that she marry than she be safe and this does not sound safe to me. :sad2:

I am slow moving today and my feet are killing me from wearing those heels. We had such a nice time at the gala last night. The golf club it was at was absolutely gorgeous, food was good and it was awesome meeting some more people from the office. they were taking pictures all night so I will post a link on FB when they put them up.
!

Your feet may hurt but you sure looked stunning!

I thought I was done throwing food out, but I am still coming across things that look sketchy and out they go. :worried: The trash schedule is so far behind I don't even know what day to put the bin out. My neighbors have theirs out now at the curb, maybe the trash bin should just live there for awhile. :confused3

After Alfred we had to eave our pail at the road and wait. The trash pickup had no schedule because the trucks could not get down all of the roads. I have to say that they rivaled the mail though, they were out before most other services!

I keep meaning to go back to Huck Finn....but I've started Dr Zhivago. Sadly, it is no easier to read now than 30 years ago. :(

I thought that reading Dr Zhivago was as bad as reading War and Peace. Both were beyond boring!

I hope that you are feeling better. I know that it is hard to miss your son's events but you really need to get this virus out of your system!

Sorry I haven't been around. Had to go to the doctor on Friday, I have an upper respiratory infection that has knocked the crap out of me. Got a shot and antibiotics, should be better soon.

I worry about you my friend! Your stress level is related to your immune system so it is no surprise to me that you are not well. Please take it easy and get well! You have a F&W Festival to get to so you need to be healthy!

How is Kyle doing?

Feeling okay. I'm on high dose cipro for my leg infection which makes me feel icky all the time. The leg wound is still not healed so that's holding everything else hostage. If I didn't have that complication, i'd be walking again :( I'm so tired of this!!

You sure have had a rough time of it! I saw that fracture and it is crazy! Take your time so this heals correctly even though you want to get moving!

Hello everyone! :wave2: I am jumping back in after a long break. I hope you are all well. I didn't have a chance to read all of the way back, but I promise to do better at keeping up and chatting from now on!

WFD: not sure, we spent the weekend out on Cape Cod for Caili's 11th (!!!) birthday and drove up to Boston and work from the Cape this morning. I haven't been back to the house yet and I can't remember what, if anything, is in the fridge!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Becky's home!

I am still shocked that Caili is 11! I know she is Kady's age but somehow every time I see a picture of her I am surprised. She is certainly one lovely girl and she totally reminds me of her Mom and her Aunt!

I missed you too!

Just a quick pop-in. I had my last sinus surgery follow-up at the ENT today. Everything looks good! I don't have to go back! party:

I am glad you are well on your way to better! I like a good laminate, it is easy to clean!

We had alligator when we were in Daytona Beach. I thought it was okay but I really don't have any desire to have it again.

Hubs came downstairs this morning and said my soup smelled awesome. He asked are we having grilled cheese too?! Yeah he is one of those that does not think soup is dinner. Ugh! At least it's easy right.

:lmao: Buddy won't eat just soup for dinner no matter how much stuff I out in it!

Thanks for the welcome backs, and thanks Marisa for getting us back together- even if it took months for me to find you all!

Ellen- I'm glad to be posting again too! It's been really dry here too, we went from about May to August without rain. Of course here only backyard gardens and lawns suffered, since we are tourism based we actually benifit from no rain.

Aimee- Yikes! I'm sorry your ankle is giving you so much trouble, glad it's on the mend.

Becky- I'm really hoping you have a shark picture, I want to see one! Of course to see one I would need to actually go to the ocean- we stick to the ponds. How are the kids liking school this year?

Okay, I'm so far behind and I need to get on with my day. Have a great day all!

SO ai am going to try to keep up from now on, I miss talking to you all every day

I am going to call the Dr today. My hand is feeling better but the rest of my arm is not. I know that I should feel some tenderness after my surgery and expected that. I also knew that I would have a problem with all of the writing I need to do but I was fine with that too. I still have pain all the way up my arm though and I don't think I should have that. The Dr thought that after the surgery that would go away but it has not. I only slept through the night once since last Friday so I feel like I am right back where I started from in that respect.

I have Nola and Rylee this afternoon and tonight. There is a family wedding so they will be spending the night here. Maris and Kady are coming over. Welby was worried they would be to much for me because Buddy is off to the races but I miss them!

I have to think of an easy meal though, I won't have much time to make anything.
