In and Out in a Day

Rubbish....rubbish....and more rubbish !!

Do not stand for this Glynis, I understand your fears.

I totally agree!!!!

We're having sporadic electrical outages as they're trying to bring one area up, they need to shut someone else down. I can live with this as long as I know it's not another 6 day ordeal!

Nancy - Let's NOT bring maths into this IN and OUT thread. I'd like to think that I've put those days behind me....but sadly, I've got it all ahead of me still. DS is starting to hit the pure maths homework and I'm going to have to try to remember some basics. I'm a bit like Glynis there....
But I hope you figure out your homework foor the rest of the class. Hope you had a great time with Kady and that Marisa and Jeff enjoyed Idol.
Good luck with the surgery. My brother had his done and it helped him enormously.

Kat - Hope Johnny is feeling better. I hope that you've gotten power back now!

Glynis - Hot, cold and windy. That's our weather too. We've gone from mid 50's one day to low 70's the next.
How did the city council meeting go? I think it's hard to balance supporting the community for their drug rehab plans but yet keep residential areas safe for kids. Hope it works out in your favour.

Vickie - Nice to see you on the Dis again! Rubbish week is about right for here too.

Hope all the NOLA folk are getting power re-connected again.

So, life has a way of making you slow down. My body quit on me this week. Between the cough and the sickness, I did the stupid thing of heading into work only to turn around 30 minutes later to head back home. I've been in bed for the last 2 days catching up on sleep and trying to recover. The coughing has been pretty bad at night and I don't know how my poor DH is coping. Looks like it will be another day of rest for me tomorrow.

Keep well all.

PIO - good to see you hear, but I'm sorry you're checking in sick :( Glad you went back home! Stay until you're well!!

I haven't checked in for awhile but have been keeping tabs on most of y'all on FB. So thankful for your friendships! Things are sorta slowing down here so I hope to get back in the swing of posting daily!

We are trying to unload the stove and fridge that came with the house through Craigslist. Supposedly, some people are coming tonight for BOTH which would be amazing! Our kitchen table is in the dining room because the extra appliances are where the kitchen table should be. SO, if we can get rid of them, our dining room will resemble a room again! Cross your fingers that they come and buy them!

A quick flyby!

Pio- i hope that you feel better spn!

Kat- I sure can sympathize with your power outages/ I sure do hope thisgs are corrected soon.

Glynis- No rehab! I am a fir believer in plenty of housing for rehabilitation but common sense should prevail.

Aimee- how are you feeling?

I am having my carpal tunnel fixed tomorrow so I will be reading but I won't be typing. Talk to you all soon!

Aimee - Nice to 'see' you! Hope you sold the appliances.

Nancy - I hope the surgery went well. I know you're reading; and I don't really expect a response until you're all better. But I'm imagining you all tucked up and resting.

It's Friday night here. I did go to work today....there was a pile of work that just wouldn't go away and it was bugging me like crazy. The good news is that I made it through the day and put in a full day's work. The bad news is that I'm really tired now. At least it's the weekend and I can rest up some more. Have you noticed how when you're sick, everyone comes round to talk to you, find out how you are and then promptly ask you to do something for them?

I'm heading to the Vic Market tomorrow morning...yes, I'll take it easy. But we need food and I figure I might as well head on out and restock our freezer.

Have a good day all.

Aimee - Did the appliances get sold??? It's nice to see you posting, again. I've been lurking on your blog, so I'm following your progress. Hopefully, you are feeling ok???? I know that the break is so hard to deal with, but it sounds like it's healing ok.

PIO - Are you feeling better?? I hope those days of rest did you some good?

Kat - How are things going? Did Isaac make a reappearance? The power outages would be so very frustrating!! Hope things settle down for you, soon.

We had our monthly book club meeting last night. I hosted it, and we discussed "Huckleberry Finn". I had read it in high school, and didn't like it then, and it's still not one of my favorites! However, discussion with my friends helped me understand it a little better. The neat thing about last night was that we realized that it was out 10 year anniversary! I can't believe we've been meeting for 10 years! Crazy! I'm sure glad I have that outlet, though!!!

Today is bowling, and I'm so excited! It's another outlet that I love! After that, I'm not sure what's going on. Alan's best friend had a birthday yesterday, and I think we're taking him and his wife out to dinner, but I just don't know. So, family dinner plans are up in the air.

Good morning all!

It is a rainy morning here.

Nancy Here hoping and praying your surgery goes well:hug: If you can have Marisa let us know how it went we would worry less.

Glynis Have fun bowling. I haven't been on a league in years I really liked it though

Pio I wish we had a market like you have. We have farmers markets but nothing on a grand scale like yours.

Glad to see on facebook that Nan's surgery went well!

PIO - I hope you are able to get some rest over the weekend.:goodvibes

Aimee - Glad to "see you" back here with us. You have been missed, my friend!!!

Glynis - Luckily, Isaac didn't bother us but the area that got hit hard got more rain they didn't need. No more power outages, thankfully.

Does anyone want to start talking food again? I loved hearing what everyone was cooking for dinner. I surely miss Becky's pics. COME BACK BECKY!!!!

Morning Girls,

I am going to try to catch up.

Kat ~ I am so glad things are somewhat back to normal for you. My prayers were with all of you NOLA girls.
How is Johnny feeling? Men - :confused3

Nan ~ Oh sweetie I so hope your are feeling ok. Well you probably are - Durgs are good. But take care please.

Vic ~ You are so good for my soul. I just love ya!!

Aimee ~ Oh my goodness, you really made my day. I have so missed you, and I am so excited you are posting to us again. I have tried to follow your move on FB (I'm not the best FB person). How are things? Are you all settled?

Glynis ~ Hi sweetie. Wow 10 years for any club is a long time. Good for you!! Doug and I used to belong to a bowling league (when the kids were smaller) and I always looked forward to it too. Was my "ME" time. Have fun!!

Janice ~ You have no idea how excited I was to also see you posting. I have really missed you. I think of you from time to time, so it is great to have you back with us. :cool1: Please stick around.

PIO ~ Of course you are welcome over here. We love you!! ;)

:wave2: To everyone else who stumbles in.

Well the weekend is finally here. I only had a 4 day work week and I swear this week has been the longest ever. I have been just swamped at work so you would think it would have flown by. This is the week that everything has started back up in the Church. It has been great to see all of the kids back and the flurry of activity but WOW I haven't had one minute to play. Hopefully things will settle down some.

We are going to Doug's hometown for their big festival tomorrow. There is a parade at 11 and we are taking the boys. Then will play in the park. We have a game tomorrow night (UCLA) so we will be watching that with an anitpasta plate. Sunday we have to serve coffee fellowship after Church then we are serving for an Open House for our Organist that is moving. So busy weekend and this is the only weekend this month we will be home as the next 3 weekends are home games for the Cornhuskers and we will be in Lincon. Fun times!!

And since Kat asked - here ya go...................

WFDT ~ 3 Ingredient Crockpot roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans and a snickers salad. We are going over to Elizabeth and Jay's tonight and I am bringing dinner.

Make it a great day!!

What is snickers salad?????

Oh Kat it is so easy and oh so good.

Snickers Salad

3 large Granny Smith apples cut in bite sized pieces

3 Snicker bars cut in bite sized peices

1 small box of instant vanilla pudding

1 container of cool whip

Put apples and snickers in a bowl. Combine the pudding and the cool whip and incorporate all together.

I suppose you could add nuts or other things and you can adjust the apples and snickers. This is how I make it and it is always a big hit and never any leftovers. I hope you like it!!

Glynis - I'll be glad to see warmer days here. I have a feeling that this cough will not go away until then. But I'm starting to feel a lot better now. Hope the bowling went well. Do you know...I don't think I've ever read Huck Finn from start to finish???? (*hangs head in shame*)

Janice - I love my Vic Market mornings. I really appreciate all the variety of produce I can get. Maybe you'll plan and trip here and we can go together!

Ellen - Thanks for the welcome and right back at you! I love you too!

Kat - Thanks for the update on Nancy. I'm not on FB (by choice) so I miss out on some of the news.
There is the other WFDT that I'm posting recipes/food porn on and I've been keeping the food chat on that. ;)
But.....WFDT? Home made fish cakes with oven wedges. I need to download pics and then post the recipe.

I had a nice afternoon nap today, so I'm a bit more rested. Tomorrow, DS has a karate grading for a new belt level. I'm not sure I'm gonna go....it is an opportunity to stay home and rest up some more but I kinda feel guilty about not going. We'll see how I feel tomorrow morning; but DH and I think it might be best if I stayed home.

PIO I would love to visit. Right after I win the lottery though:goodvibes
Try eating some chocolate for the cough. It coats your throat and make you feel good:love:

We are having a spicey pot roast tonight I found it on Jen's website. We like spicey here We will probably have it with mashed potatoes and snap peas

I have to tie someone down so we can order his senior pictures today.:rolleyes1

Have a good day everyone

Morning, all!

It really feels like Fall here! Hooray! I love the cooler temperatures!

PIO - Don't be ashamed that you haven't read Huck Finn. It's really not a book I enjoyed! It was really hard to read, as it is written in about 5 different dialects, and some of them are really hard to follow in the written form. I think listening to the book would be a lot more fun!

Ellen - I love that Snicker's salad! It's always a big hit! And because it has the word "salad" in the title, that makes it healthy, right???

Kat - I miss Becky and Laura, too! I see them on FB, but would really like them to come back!! Glad that you are not having power outages, anymore.

Nancy - I hope you are reading along! Glad to know that the surgery went well. Here's hoping the recovery is easy and painless!

Janice - Please let me know how the roast is. That's what I have planned for Sunday dinner. However, I have to dial the spicy back a bit, as all my kids are wimps!

I have a Hen Party tonight for a niece that's getting married. I'm having trouble feeling like this is a joyous thing, as my niece has never actually dated this man in person. They met at her brother's house in England, and they started dating over Skype. He can't move to the US, as he's has immigration troubles (was here as a child, illegally. Not his fault, his parents), so they've decided to marry in Wales and live there. However, because my niece has had some tax problems, she's not allowed to work, so she'll be stuck in a foreign country, with a husband she doesn't really know, no work, and no transportation, unless he buys her a bike to match his. Sigh! So many red flags for me! However, her parents are just glad that at 30 she's finally marrying. So, I have to put on a happy face and attend the Hen Party tonight.

DH and the kids will be having chicken tenders and corn for dinner tonight.

Hey! I am going to try and jump back in here...

Kat, Would love to talk food again. Its gonna be pretty boring here since I have to clean out the freezer, fridge and pantry. How is Johnny feeling? How are you doing?

Nancy, Hoping you're feeling OK today.

POI, hope you're feeling better too.

Janice, I would love to see some senior pics...maybe you can post some on FB. I saw that pot roast on the blog too and will make it soon.

Ellen, love that salad! I've only made it once.

Glynis, I wouldn't be enthusiastc about that marriage either. I hope it works out.

I am slow moving today and my feet are killing me from wearing those heels. We had such a nice time at the gala last night. The golf club it was at was absolutely gorgeous, food was good and it was awesome meeting some more people from the office. they were taking pictures all night so I will post a link on FB when they put them up.

Not sure about dinner. I think I will take it easy and do sloppy joes, fries and a salad. I made japanese steak house ginger dressing the other day and it came out pretty good. A said "Ma, you did good, not as good as Fusion (the restaurant we go too), but good".

Ok, T is here now so I must get going. Here are some things he wants to see.:furious::rotfl:Have a great day all!

Hi...:surfweb:

Our power has held, but there are still teams of electric trucks working in my neighborhood and also near where I work. Georgia, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Texas, Florida.....they're from all over. Soooo thankful to them (and their families left behind) for coming down and helping out.

I'm also very glad that the Spawn of Isaac looks like it will not redevelop. When I first saw Isaac was back, I cursed more than a little bit. :ssst:

This week wore me out. Those 4 day weeks are always a little wonky, but this one was something else. I slept about 13 hours last night. I am rested but groggy. I have a lot of boring things to do today and tomorrow. Laundry, paying bills, lesson planning, returning books to the library, and going to Home Depot. I know y'all are jealous. ::yes::

I thought I was done throwing food out, but I am still coming across things that look sketchy and out they go. :worried: The trash schedule is so far behind I don't even know what day to put the bin out. My neighbors have theirs out now at the curb, maybe the trash bin should just live there for awhile. :confused3

WFDT - :confused3 Maybe chicken. We bought some the other day. I went to Winn-Dixie and the bill was $112. :faint: Then I had them scan my WD card and had $8 in coupons and I only actually paid $61. :woohoo: That included 10 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast and 4 12oz bags of Community Coffee.

PIO - I'm not sure I've read Huck Finn in its entirety either. I'm sure it was assigned at school. I'm not sure I actually read it. :rotfl: I hope your cough goes away. I feel like I'm coming down with something. My head hurts and I'm coughing a little. :rolleyes2 And yes....that is how it goes. The asking you how you are is just an attempt an manners before getting to the real reason they found you....a favor. :scratchin At least you must be needed. Job security....:upsidedow

Glynis I have been smelling that roast allllll day long. I snuck a small piece all I can say is WOW. I used Diet coke and Siracha. I only used 1 tbsp of the siracha, I won't go any more than that. Maybe another hot sauce would be different but I love Siracha. If your kids don't like spicey I would leave out the hot sauce. The roase has a wonderful taste.:thumbsup2

I am making cheesey grits and have a chocolate cake for dessert. I just have to hold out for dinner time now;)

Janice - That spicy roast sounds delish!

Glynis - It's begining to feel like Spring here. I'm going to enjoy the warmer temperatures for a bit. But give me about 2 months. I'll probably be complaining of the heat then.
I keep meaning to go back to Huck Finn....but I've started Dr Zhivago. Sadly, it is no easier to read now than 30 years ago. :(
Hope your Hen Party was enjoyable.

Lauren - Thanks. Yes, I'm feeling a little better. Just wish I would stop coughing.

Bethany - I'm glad your power supply held. Hope the city returns to normal soon. And get better!!

Well, today was Sunday and I did absolutely nothing except rest. It was probably for the best...but I wish I'd gone to see DS for his karate grading. Oh well....the week routine starts up again tomorrow morning. School lunches, drop off and then home duties.

Have a good day all.

PIO - I'm impressed that you are trying Russian literature! I had to do that in college, and it was tough! I read "The Brothers Karamozov" and had a really hard time keeping all the characters straight with the different variations of their names!

Anyone heard from Nancy? I hope she's healing ok.

Dinner tonight is the spicy bbq pot roast with cheesy grits! Janice - I took your advice and cut out the hot sauce. It smells divine. I'm making the grits in 10 minutes, and we'll eat as soon as they are done! Hooray!!!
