They are turn indicators, they indicate what your intentions are, you should turn them on BEFORE you turn not while you are turning!!! You can actually be ticketed for not turning on your blinker soon enough (at least in MN that is the law). I use them before I enter a turn lane because I am moving from one lane to another and keep it on because I am still intending to turn.

Ah.... if only more people thought this way! ::cop:

I always signal. I'm such a signaling fool that sometimes I even signal when I'm pulling into my driveway from our quiet cul-de-sac street. I notice myself doing it and turn the signal off (and hit myself in the head), but I just can't help myself sometimes. :rotfl:

I am convinced that the majority of the drivers here think that the blinker is optional equipment on their vehicle and not standard. :rotfl:

Yes, even though I am usually the only one. It seems like most people in Florida are afraid of their blinkers, for ANY reason.

yep i do. for one it is the law (at least around here) and also i want people who may not be familiar with the area and coming from a different direction to know what i am doing so i can hopefully avoid accidents.

Only till there is someone else behind me.

I want the drivers coming from behind to realize its a turn lane but whats the point if the guy behind me has his on? I turn them off so I don't have to listen to the turn signal noise anymore.

Isn't it illegal not to? I always do and wouldn't want to risk getting a ticket for not using the blinker.

I always use my turn signal. People here drive crazy and sometimes they think they can go straight when they really can't. There is an intersection right by my house where there are two lanes, one to go straight and the other to turn left. Yeah everyone still uses the left one to go straight. Its a nightmare. I also do it so anyone driving from out of state knows what i'm doing. Driving in Massachusetts is not an easy task.

Of course I use it, I'm turning. You have to signal even if it's a turn only lane to indicate that yes you are REALLY planning on turning.

I'm confused. If you're turning into your driveway you should use your blinker. You're making a turn and there can be pedestriaons and other cars who might need to know you're turning.

I turn it on before I get into the turn lane. It's kind of annoying to me to see people get into the lane and THEN turn the signal on. It's like, "Yeah, I already KNEW you were planning on turning!"

Yes - turn-only lanes mean nothing here. I do it so that the fool behind me who intends to go straight will hopefully slow down and not plow into me ( :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: ) ( :sad2: )

I agree...gosh I hate stupid drivers !!!

Mechanical turns signals or hand/arm signals must be given before the turn has begun in order to let those behind and infront of the vehicle, know what the driver's intention is.

It's the law on all public roads in America period

Just because one is stationary in a turning lane does not release that driver from the requirement of using a signal to indicate intentions.

... and please start using the blinker way ahead before the turn so we can prepare to change lane if we can. and no need to turn the signal light on when the turn is already completed!

...and please remember..."slow traffic keep right"...another forgotten law
