My dh has been a chef for almost 20 years and we are taking our first WDW trip in August.
His speciality is fine dining and I would like to take him to a impressive restaurant with a "different" menu (Not V&A though)

Any recommendations?

My friend, TigerKat, is in the process of doing a dining review and she really really enjoyed Blue Zoo.

I would say the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club - it has a great atmosphere. The chefs always are putting specialities on their menu. I believe they will be updating their menu again soon.

Have a great time on your trip!

I think California Grill is fantastic. Great food, and atmosphere.

I'm trying Yachtsman on my next trip, can't wait!:goodvibes

Have a great time the Yachtsman ! The filet mignon is to die for! I'm counting the days too I'm going there in 3 weeks!

The best service/food we've had has been at Jiko. V&A is too intimate for your situation maybe. CG's food is fabulous but it's popularity has increased wait times and sometimes you'll get the 'here's your bill with dessert push out the door'.

Take a look at the menu's

BTW, I've heard good things about the Flying Fish but I can't recommend it until after I eat there this Fall.

I would say Jiko or California Grill (although like someone said, CG is a bit of a zoo lately). People here rave about certain specialties from Artist Pointe. In addition, Blue Zoo is a terrific chance to experience my fav, Todd English.

Thanks for all the suggesstions. I will have to take a look at the menu for some of those

I would suggest Boma. It has a very unique menu and the food is fabulous. The Chef there is also very friendly and if you wrote him in advance would probably come and speak to him about the unique ingredients etc..

The meus at Jiko, Flying Fish and California Grill are the most "foodie" friendly. The menus at AP and YS are pretty mainstream. Boma is a buffet, and while some of he buffet items may be appealing, the atmosphere is a typical buffet--loud and crowded.

I think there are a few choices here and they are the resorts signature restaurants.

I also cooked for 10 years as a chef and these are a few of my choices. Artist Point (one of my favorites) California Grill, Citrico's, Blue Zoo, and Portobello Yacht Club (DTD)

I think it depends on what you mean by fine dining. This is a very subjective term. To some it means 2 or 3 Michelin starred restaurants. If this is the case outside of V&A there probably isn't a restaurant in DW that would receive 1 star. That is not to say that the Signatures are not very good they are in the context of Disney but put them in any large city like NY, SF or Chicago and they would not compare to the upper tier of Restaurants. Not a slam on Disney restaurants just a comparison.

I believe that Flying Fish serves the highest quality food. Jiko is the most unique but the quality is hit or miss. The rest are very good but somewhat pedestrian in terms of menus. I have not been to blue zoo but English usually does a good job in "franchise" sort of way. Will be there in a few weeks to try out and compare.

1) We have majority stakes in two restaurants.
2) We prefer
. . . fine food
. . . excellent service
. . . ambiance
. . . innovative dishes with flair
. . . overall great value
3) I recommend
. . . Bistro de Paris (Epcot, France, upstairs)
. . . Victoria & Albert's (Grand Floridian Resort)
. . . Citricos (Grand Floridian Resort)
. . . Todd English Blue Zoo (Dolphin Resort)
. . . Shula's Steakhouse (Dolphin Resort)

Why not V&A out of curiosity?? If you hadn't said that, I would've recommended it!! Even the chef's table but that may be a bus man's holiday!
