Impressions from an American

Remember too that in the US parks, there was no queuing to meet characters until the 1990's. One just rushed up to hug, and often their are 'other people's children' in photos. There is a thread of 'old' Disney park photos on one of these boards, and like my photo of me meeting Pooh for the first time, others have strangers in their photos.

Perhaps one day DLRP will implement a queue as well. :confused3

Thanks Steve! As an American thinking of going to DLP, this was very helpful.

One question (for you or anyone else out there). What do you mean when you say DLP is not as "magical" as WDW? I know it's probably hard to put into words, but it sounds just beautiful there. I've heard about the picturesque setting and the attention to detail, and the fact that it's a much newer park makes me curious about what's missing, or what's there that shouldn't be. TIA!

I do agree that the sometimes odd (if understandable) approach to language at DLP does detract somewhat from the magical experience. Animagique is perhaps the most obvious example in which, when two characters have a conversation, one will ask a question in English and the other will answer in French. I found this a bit off putting and thought that they might have been better served doing alternate shows in French and English to a published schedule. We too are repeat visitors to both Paris and Orlando, from England so I can confirm that it is certainly not just Americans who find WDW more magical. I have a theory that part of it is the trip across the lagoon to the Magic Kingdom that serves as the first act in heightening anticipation for ones entry into the park. When you are able to simply walk up to the gate something is lost (I felt the same at Disneyland in California).
