My family is heading to WDW Oct 21. On Sept 28th I happened to discover that the passport for my younger son had expired (in August). Then checked and discovered that my older son's and mine were scheduled to expire in Feb 2009. Well, no sense in putting things off, might as well get all of them up to date (then renewals will all be at the same time in the future). Online I go to the Passport Canada site, complete all the forms for the three of us, print them out, then rush around like a maniac Monday (Sept 29) to get photos done, then my DH signed my boys' photos as guarantor (thankfully they have relaxed the requirements for guarantors!) and completed the guarantor section of the app's. Off I go to the Passport Office the next morning in the pouring rain (Sept 30)...Lo and Behold, there was almost NOBODY there waiting. :woohoo: I literally walked in, went up to the counter (this was in St Catharines ON btw) and completed all three applications and walked back out in less than 20 minutes! The even better news is that I have already received the new passports (they arrived Express Post) this past Monday (Oct 6). :cool1:
I believe we probably could have flown using our expired passports as one form of ID (once you apply for the renewal your current passport is considered expired and they cut the corner off), presented drivers license, birth certificates etc. if the new passports did not arrive in time, but YIPPEE! I don't have to worrry about it, they arrived in record time! (less than one week). I did not pay for express shipping either.:
Thank you Passport Canada office in St Catharines ON. Awesome job! :cheer2:

Funny that you posted this because I too live in St. Catharines and went to the Passport office on my lunch on Monday, September 29th and could not believe it when my passport was at the postal outlet for me on Friday, October 3rd. That is really only 4 days and it was in my hands.

I should mention that this was for a renewal also, did my application online, printed it out, did my pics (did NOT need a guarantor at all) and took it into the office. I was about 15 minutes in the passport office!

Mine was a renewal, but apparently they don't 'renew' children's passports. So I didn't need a guarantor for mine, but for my children I did. If I didn't have to combobulate getting the photos taken with my DH's schedule to get his signature on the photos, I would have been at that passport office on the 29th as well.:upsidedow

Totally impressed with the Winnipeg Office too. BUT you have to get there early in the morning OR do it online before you get there. Nice people.

I actually went into the Passport Office here in London on Thursday to apply for mine and my sons passport, and it arrived today (Wednesday), so it took four days to recieve it, and didnt pay for express post!

Kudos to the folks at the downtown Toronto passport office. Efficient and pleasant.

An excuse to post one of my favorite images.

He had a passport why don't you?
