Impossible to book the Swan/Dolphin??

So... I'm trying to plan a 10 day trip for either this September or November. I'm pretty flexible at the moment as I'm just trying to pick the weeks with the least crowds (plus I have a pin code for free dining in November). However, I've come to the conclusion that even though I really wanted to use a free dining offer, I have no interest in staying at any of disney resorts other than the Contemporary... And the Contemporary is ridiculously expensive and way out of my budget. (Seriously, since when did the Contemporary start to trump the Grand Floridian's prices?)

Now I'm looking at the Swan, Dolphin, and Hilton so that I might still get a few Disney perks. Looks like the Hilton would be in my budget range, so I figured so would Swolphin.

Except I can't seem to find available nights!! I get the same message that no nights are available for both September and November. I played around, and couldn't find an opening in any other months this year either. What does a gal have to do to stay there?! Book three years in advance? Frustrating....

Hilton it is then? Maybe I should just stay at my usual Orlando Vista Hotel. What do you guys suggest as far as resorts if Swolphin is out of the question??

Did you try calling their reservation line directly? Try 407-934-4000 ... I just looked at November and found availability. I have found their online booking to be a little tricky at times. Try calling them and see what they can do. They are really helpful!

You are starting to get into prime convention time - to find a ten day block, you are likely having to work around 2 (or even 3) main conventions. Interestingly, sometimes room open up as you get clsoer to travel dates, b/c the hotel pre-reserves rooms for convention, but sometimes not all get used and they go back on available (sometimes even at discount). Calling can also help, as others suggested.

I played around with dates on the Starwood site and as far as I can tell, it looks like Sept 8-9-10 are blocked out at both resorts, but the rest of Sept looks pretty open, with excellent rates in the $149 (Dolphin) and $169 (Swan) range.

November's availability looks good, too, and the rates are in the $185 (Dolphin) and $205 (Swan) range.

I booked a few nights at the Dolphin for December 9 (two weeks ago). I called them and was under the impression from the person I spoke with that there was alot of availability. I think you should call.
