Anyone have experience with this? I got it the first time while pregnant, now every time my immune system is low it comes back, and looks like a cold sore. I've been to the doctor multiple times, I've been told its just normal bacteria that lives on your skin and having eczema makes me prone to it. But it's vile and looks like herpes! (It's been swabbed, it's staph) . I'm so sick of looking like a leper. Any advice? Anyone dealt with this? It's disgusting. I'm so frustrated I t is coming back.the doctor said stay healthy and keep your immune system strong. My baby is picking up every germ at daycare and passing it to me, so I've been sick a lot. And the whole get plenty of rest isn't happening, I've got a 3 month old. My house has been completely disinfected routinely.

I got it a few times in HS wrestling, it can leave a scare. It did leave one on my arm. If I remember correctly I was prescribed a cream to put on it and kept it bandaged. It is highly contagious.

I have a tendency to get impetigo on my lip. It's not nice at all. Sometimes it makes half my face swell.

Here are some of the steps I take which have reduced my impetigo occurrences drastically. Always have lip balm like Carmex or Blistex on hand. I use it multiple times a day. If I go outside I make sure I have sunscreen on my face and lips. Many makeups have sunscreen. Look for lip balm with extra sunscreen, I try to get at least a 30 spf. Make sure to leave your lips alone, no touching, biting, ect. I never wear lipstick, gloss once in a while, but it is better not to irritate the lip area.

I started getting it when I was a kid. The doctors said adults don't get it. Unfortunately it is not true. Try to stay healthy and hopefully it will stay away.

I've had it a few times in my life. It's painful and very embarrassing. I usually get it on my eyebrow or chin line. The meds clear it up fast but it did leave scars. My immune system is compromised right now and I worry it will come back. :(

It won't come back unless you have contact with the bacteria that causes it. In other words, it doesn't come back.

Impetigo is caused by a bacteria that naturally lives on your skin. Staph usually, but the infection occurs when there is a break in the skin. What you had sounds more like a MRSA type infection. Impetigo is rare in adults, but seems like once you get it, you keep getting it.

Sorry, but everything about this post is medically incorrect.

Impetigo is caused by bacteria that are normally found on intact skin. The poster is immunocompromised, so is much more vulnerable to infection than a normal healthy person. Any irritation or disruption of normal skin tissue (the OP has eczema) can result in repeated cases of impetigo.

I had it, from strep, after the birth of my son. It was so bad my doctor took pictures to send it other doctors. I had the strongest antibiotic I could take while breastfeeding.

Sent from me.

I have had experience with this. I was in fourth or fifth grade we hen I had it.

One time I was really ill was in January 1971 when I was in fourth grade. I was out of school for the first and second weeks of that month, I got well and attended the third week, and then I had a relapse and missed the fourth week of January 1971. I wish I could remember what caused that severe bit of bad health.

My daughter gets it on her chin every now and then. An oral antibiotic seems to work much better for her than a topical one. She can tell when she getting it even before it gets all crusty looking. I'm hoping she'll eventually grow out of it.
