Hi everyone! What are some tips/tricks/advice to keep your immune system in tip top shape before your trip and while you're at the parks/hotel/on the buses/boats??? I try to get loads of sleep, eat well, and take things like vitamin c and zinc... any other ideas??

use antiseptic mouthwash 2x a day. No joke.

It's also a good idea to make yogurt a part of your diet, especially before a vacation. The bacteria in yogurt can be a big hedge against stomach bugs. You don't have to gorge yourself, just a small helping each day. My Dad was stationed in Japan in the 50s and due to the Japanese farming practices at the time they were ORDERED to eat yogurt every day to protect against stomach bugs....back then they didn't have tasty yogurt like we do now, he said it was gross but it DID work.

The BEST advice however is to keep your hands away from your face....don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth.

I travel alot for work, plus vacation travel and don't take any precautions and am rarely sick. I don't even wipe down the room or take the comforter off! And I use the remote :scared1:.

I took all the precautions I could think of last year... vitamins, hand sanitizer, avoid touching face... all that and still got sick... our entire group came down with horrible flu like symptoms, but still managed to have a great time!

Wash your hands several times a day.. keep your fingers out of your mouth.

I learned from my chiropractor that Vitamin D boosts your immune system. He said to take 3-4 of the 1000 mil. ones a day when you are fighting something off or going to be exposed to stuff.

airplanes tend to dry out the mucus in your lungs which leaves you vulnerable to catching "colds "
one way to try and avoid this is to make sure you drink water esp before and during your flight. keep the throat moist, and that should help stop the "bugs" before they settle in your lungs

Wash your hands as many times as possible, and then use the paper towel to open the door, though I think many of Disney's restrooms don't have doors anyway.

Common sense - eat right, get enough sleep, wash your hands, don't touch your face and keep your hands off of places where everyone else has had their hands (whenever possible).

Liberal applications of hand sanitizer and hand washing, keep you hands away from mouth and face.:thumbsup2

These are great tips!! I have heard Vitamin D is good for your system too... thanks for mentioning that!!

We start taking EmergenC about a week before our trips. It seems to help.

Vitamins C, D and E, zinc, Echinacea and fish oil are all good for the immune system, according to an online natural health newsletter that I read regularly.

don't use hand sanitizer, it weakens you immune system. Exposure to germs and bacteria is what builds up your immune system. Stay away from the sanitizing wipes for shopping carts and the hand sanitizer. Wash with soap and water before you eat, that's really all you need to do. Your body will build up a resistance if you give it a chance.
