What are your views on immigration?

Everyone's heard people say there are too many Hispanic people in this country, and all that jazz that they should learn to speak english.

Anyway, what are YOUR opinions on it.

This country is made of immigrants; anyone LEGAL can be a part of it. I have no respect for illegals. When they cross over the border illegally, often with drugs and weapons, they show disrespect for our laws and legal sysytem. Isn't it ironic that they are coming to live in our country then?

I also have a bone to pick with speaking their language. America used to be called the Melting Pot because everyone assimilated. No one assimilates anymore. There is no attempt to learn English because we idiotically condone this foreign infiltration through multi language signs. Go into Best Buy--the giant signs are in SPANISH and English..that's wrong to me. If you want to be part of our country, you have to be a part of our culture. I FEAR the day when Spanish becomes an official language.

Why do I always agree with your posts? Lol, but anyway I agree with every word of it.

USA can still be a melting pot without everyone NEEDING to learn Spanish. We can still mix in with other cultures without losing everything that is American. We will ALWAYS be a melting pot, but I think we need to show a little backbone towards this immigrants speaking english thing.

The thing that REALLY bugs me is that illegal people can come over here, have a kid, and stay. Nobody can move them. Then, because they have a kid here, they get to mooch off the government.

Like at the place I work, I sometimes go upstairs to help with the case workers that do Food stamps and medicaid. There are ALWAYS some Hispanic people up there that can't speak English, or some illegals getting welfare off their kid.

I live in florida everyone here speaks spanish..i went to europe for about a little less for a month and when the plane landed in Miami i was like omg yay im no longer a foreigner(sp?)

We stepped off the plane...i felt like i was still in spain lol
In school they tell us we have to know spanish to be able to survive in the real world...i dont think thats right its america we need to know english to survive in the real world
I have friends who are hispanic and i love them to death but the ones who are illegal and harm our economy make me a little mad

The government doesn't pay for people to go to college and get jobs...

I believe that anyone who wants to be an American, is an American, as long as they are willing to work for it. And by that I mean willing to learn English and the basics of our government so they can manage in our society, instead of wrecking it.

In my opinion, if the parent is not a citizen, the child shouldn't be a citizen until the parents become one.

In my opinion, if the parent is not a citizen, the child shouldn't be a citizen until the parents become one.

Well, I kind of agree with that. But I'm also thinking it's not the childs fault the parents are illegal, so I think we should provide the child with government help, but then of course the parents spend it, or manipulate it so they can use it themselves.

Of course, not all illegals are like that, don't get me wrong.
