Then you will collect your luggage and go through customs.

After you go through customs, you drop your luggage off at the connection desk (just outside customs - just a few steps away), then you go to wherever your next flight is.

Be sure to leave 3 hours between your arrival into New York and your connecting flight to Orlando.

newark is a lot easier than JFK, so that's good you're going into newark.

It's also good that you're connecting onto the same airline.
if they permitted you to reserve it with that much time then it's ok. In any case, they will take care of you if you miss your connecting flight.

as for the process, it's the same as what i said above.
Passport first, then pick up your luggage, then customs, then drop off your luggage right past customs, then continue to your next flight.

We are on this flight in February. Was beginning to have second thoughts about the 1hr 45m changeover in Newark but, all in all, it seems to be enough. Probably just a quick march off the Glasgow flight, immigration, customs and then straight onto the MCO flight.

When in March are you flying? We return on 15 March so will let you know how things go - if you are still here!

1 hour 45 should be enough but remember that after you exit US customs and put your luggage on the baggage carousel to go to Orlando that you have to go through security in Newark again which can be time consuming. We did these flights from Glasgow in July and they were excellent.

We're doing the same from Edinburgh via Newark this year. Our connection time is 1 hour 30 minutes, however as we land at Newark midday EST, there are plenty connections.

Do you stay at the same terminal building or is there a change from one terminal to the next between flights? I have studied the website, but I'm still unsure as to whether you arrive and and leave from a different terminal.

Thanks. When you say the same plane, do you mean your transatlantic and the MCO to EWR flight was on the same plane? From the seating plans it looked like they were different, unless they just numbered the rows differently. I hate sitting near the back of the plane, but DD is most disgruntled as the nearest seats to the front are all over the wing. That's how I noticed. Was it a straightforward change over on the inbound then? Not too much of a race? I was prepared for a possible terminal change so if there is no change on the inbound it should give us ample time (90 minutes )

i think there is a chance you can arrive into terminal B and leave from terminal C, though it's much more likely that you'll arrive and depart in terminal C...

my last flight through newark was in august, and i ended up arriving in B and leaving from C, but it's not a big deal at all if that happens to you...
after all, you get rid of your luggage as soon as you're done with customs..

by the way, you can ask the customs officer where the luggage drop is...i always ask the customs officer, even though i've done it a million times, i ask just to make sure it hasn't been moved.
They don't mind being asked. They're usually even friendly

if you do arrive in B and leave in C, you can catch the air train between the terminals...
but you'll probably be only in terminal C and then it's super easy.

if i'm remembering correctly, there's a lot of food in newark.....but then i got stuck there for a few hours waiting for my flight to houston so i had time to check out all the different places...i remember people looking at me when i bought a smoothie at 6 in the morning newark time (it was already much later in the day for me)...

Thank you Beth Yes, that's what confused me. I looked at the airlines and their terminals at EWR and there was an overlap for CO connections with B and C. I heard the air tran runs very frequently so it won't be a problem. I didn't realise you drop your luggage at the same terminal you arrive at though, so that will be a help. We won't have time to play around with a 90 min connection time, but on our return flight we have 2 1/2 hours so we can maybe fill our bellies then.

yes, you drop it off just outside customs...
definitely ask the customs officer where it is...i think it's just to the left as you come out of customs, but i go through so many airports, i might be remembering a different one...
in any case, ASK the customs officer where the continuing flight luggage drop is..they know...there are many many people who do the same thing..

it's great to get rid of your luggage....and then you just have your carry on to drag around with you...

i think continental might only use terminal B for international arrival if they happen not to have a gate available in terminal C......in other words, their terminal of choice is C...

i walked around the terminal a lot - checked out all the food places and all the stores....but my plane arrived at 5 AM and my next flight was only at 9...so i had lots of time to waste....but it's a pretty user friendly place....it was pleasant ...although i remember the wifi connection wasn't so great...i had to keep moving around to find a good wifi connection for my iphone...
