Despite our collective condition last night <g>, somehow, we all managed to get up and out early this morning! Everyone grabbed refreshments from the 12th floor as we got ready. This is one thing that I *especially* love about having concierge service in a hotel - the coffee & juice and nice quick breakfast, all ready and waiting when you get up - it's like having an invisible maid or something! LOL
We were headed to Animal Kingdom, and I'd hoped we could get there before opening, so that Julie could see that ceremony. I think it's so neat, and she hasn't seen it yet. We didn't manage that, but did get there just after 9, so I guess it wasn't too bad. I pretty much bolted through the front area, due to CM's holding assorted gross creatures (i.e.: lizards!! LOL) while the others lingered to check them out - YUCK!!
When we checked the wait times for the attractions, and saw that Dinosaur had pretty much no wait at all, we headed back there. The weather was beautiful again today, and *what* a pleasure that was, especially in AK! I'm used to being there in the dead of summer, when it's like 10000 degrees out and you feel like you're melting! LOL Much nicer this way. We were able to walk right onto the ride - always ask when you see a long wait time first thing in the a.m., b/c that ride listed 70 minutes, but the CM posted there said it was less than 5! Someone had just forgotten to reset the clock.
This was Julie's first time in the park, so first time on the ride too - I think she liked it a lot, even though her eyes are closed on the pic we got! LOL I guess I shouldn't talk though, because, while I myself love rides (most of them), my own eyes are usually closed when taking a pic too!
We walked back to Kilimanjaro Safaris next and got a FP, then shopped around the stores there for a bit while waiting. We saw something new (new to me anyway) - a little show, with costumed male dancers (get your minds outta the gutter JE & Cheryl <eg>) doing gymnastic type stuff, and jumping rope, involving the audience too! Fun!
FP in hand, again, we pretty much walked onto the Safari. I must say, after doing the Sunrise Safari a few times now, the 'regular' safari almost seems like a gyp! LOL It's still fun, but you truly do see/learn a lot more on the SS. It was funny though - while waiting for the FP time, I'd said to Julie that I wasn't going to take pics on the safari this time, because I do every time I go, and now I've got ten thousand animal pics, all the same almost! But of course, as soon as we got on .. I started to snap away .. until my battery died! LOL Guess that's one way of getting me to stop!
I may be writing some of this stuff out of order, and leaving out things, since I didn't do the journal thing this trip ... so forgive me if I do that, OK girlies? LOL
But remember, I am doing it all from memory .. and ya know how THAT sometimes goes!
At some point, we did have lunch at Flametree (it's in the 1st dining report) As I said there, we enjoyed this, and had an early lunch too, so that we wouldn't be too full for our evening out!
ITTBAB was next, where we saw a darling sign that Julie took a picture with, called "Beauty and the Bees" .. get it? Bees? LOL Perfect! Jan, did you do this attraction when you were there? I'd be surprised frankly if you did, only b/c of the darkness of it! That never occured to me before this time!
Of course, we hit all of the stores here - I think they've got some GREAT places to shop! I found a really cute Dumbo stapler of all things! I collect anything (pretty much) Dumbo, so I was thrilled to see this! In fact, throughout the parks, and DD, we noticed a lot of new mdse. since late July. Debbie said she'd read/heard about a new merchandising person coming on board, so I guess that's the reason for this. They're doing a darned good job too!
As much as I would have loved to have seen my "Festival of the Lion King" again, we needed to head back. We were going to "Eat to the Beat" this evening, and the concert started at 5 pm, so we had to allow time to get 'freshened up' and ready to go. We caught the bus out, and got back to the Swan, where we all got ready to take Epcot by storm in a short while .. and boy did we ever do that! ;O
Day 3, pt 2 on it's way!
