What happened to my images (in my signature)?

Nevermind, I figured it out. My hosting site was down.....
Which leads to another question:
When we moved to this "new" forum several years ago, the ability to post photos no longer required a hosting site to do so. BUT, in order to put images in a signature, the image still needed to be hosted. Is that still true?
