Does anyone have an idea of a good image size for a kids t-shirt? Some of the DISigns are SO big in size I'm having a problem scaling the image size (I'm using PS C4). Is there a standard size you use (inches, cm, etc.?)

T.I.A.

What I usually do is print the designs for adults in an 8 x 10 size and then for my DS who is 2 I usually print it at a 4 x 6. Sometimes a 5 x 7 depending on the specific DISign. However no matter what I print a test copy on plain paper printed on Draft so it doesn't use alot of ink and using only black ink.

That way it gives me a true to size pattern to hold on the shirt before I use my good ink and transfer paper.

It works for me...hope it helps.

I used Word, so I don't know if this will help. I just imported the file onto a blank page, and then kind of guessed how big it should be. I would say for my size 2-4 shirts, it was probably a little bigger than 4x6. I always printed a grayscale page first, cut it out, and placed it on the shirt to get an idea. The nice thing was I could often get both boys' transfers on one shirt since they were small (if they were rectangular designs). I got 21 shirts out of 18 pages this way. If you'd like I can measure my YDS's images and see how big they are to give you a better idea.

This is what I did. I downloaded the image and right clicked on the picture and opened with picture viewer, when that image came up at the top of the left hand corner of the picture it had where I could click on edit and clicked on 1/2 size and then clicked on file to print and when printing I printed with landscape. Using photograph made the 1/2 size bigger still smaller than original size but with landscape it made it smaller. I tried doing the 5x7 size and it was cutting off part of the name.

Most of the imaging programs out there (including PS) will allow you to set the image size to a certain size in inches. For my 15 month old son (wearing a 2T shirt), I set the width of the image to be 7 inches and let the height become whatever was proportional for the image. For my 4 year old petite daughter (who barely fits into a 4T shirt - some of her shirts are still 2T size!), I set the width of the image to be about 7-8 inches depending on the image. For the adults, I set the width to be 8-8.5 inches again, depending on the image. Your mileage may vary, of course ... I think it's very smart to print out a draft copy of the image on regular paper first at the size you set to see how it looks against the actual shirt.
