I'm wicked confused:RE-car rental

Why do I get a car rental rate from Orbitz better than the rate
directly from Alamo? I ended up calling Alamo and they could not
offer me the same lower rate that Orbitz gave me on line. The Alamo rep told me it was because the rate Orbitz gave me probably didn't include taxes and fees. I told her they did include taxes and fees. She said I should book with Orbitz then!!!

I hate the quippy answer you were given, but, I tend to agree with the Alamo rep (without the quippy attitude). Why does this happen? Who knows? Perhaps Orbitz negotiated a good rate with Alamo for rentals made through them. The Alamo rep. would not know this as they are not informed of corporate decisions like this.
