I went to the flu assessment clinic today, thinking I might have H1N1. I don't, apparently, but I have a doozy of some other kind of bug. Diarrhea, fever, chills, body ache, headache, fatigue. Really, everything they say is part of the H1N1.

The doctor thought I might have food poisioning. All I know is I am miserable. Hubby had to take me to the clinic as I was too weak and dizzy to drive. My blood pressure is low, and I am dehydrated. Hoping tomorrow is a better day.

You poor thing! I'm sorry for what you are going through! It sounds awful. Try to drink lots and rest. I hope tomorrow will be better for you too. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

How are they sure it isn't the flu? From what I understand, the swab flu test isn't really that accurate at detecting the flu. Either way, I hope you feel better soon.

Sounds awful! Drink lots of water and if you feel up to it, take some nice hot bths frequently to help with the muscle aches.. Get lots of rest and try to sleep off as much of it as you can..

Feel better soon!

How could a clinic know so quickly that it's not H1N1? The quick test is basically useless, and it takes forever to get real results back.

Whatever it is, hope you feel better soon!

Hope its not the flu and you get better asap!

She said it wasn't the flu because I don't have any respiratory problems. No coughing, sore throat or runny nose. No chest congestion. She said she could give me the Tamiflu but I wouldn't thank her for it...the side effects of that are nausea, vomiting and diarrhea! No thanks, I've got that now.

The fever is pretty much gone today. BTW, Ibuprofen works way better than Acetaminophen for the muscle aches and fever. Last night I had the chills so bad, I was still shivering in a hot bath. Then I took two 500 mg acetaminophen. An hour later my temperature was still nearly 102.

Hubby made me some chicken noodle soup and went out and got me some gingerale.

ginger ale & chicken soup--the miracle cure:) Hope you feel better soon Faye.:)

I'm not sure I believe you're not infected with H1N1. Unless testing was sent away, it's impossible to know one way or the other. Not everyone has the same symptoms either, so I wouldn't put much weight on that. You do have some of the symptoms of swine, but it's not requirement to have them all. Some people don't really get any real symptoms at all.

If it gets too bad, don't hesitate to go back. Better safe than sorry, IMO. I would take comfort in the fact that you're not have respiratory problems though. That does appear to be the real danger of the strain.

I do hope you start feeling better soon.

I hope you feel better soon....a few tips from a health care professional.....if your BP is low then do not take a hot bath, heat makes the blood vessels dilate thus making your BP even lower...also if you have a temp like this tomorrow you need to go the ER.. you do not want to let this get away from you...also no hot baths if you have a temp....the chills start when you have a very high temp.....please please take care of yourself this flu season is not nice... I hope you feel better soon:hug:

Poor you. Feel better. By the way, Tamiflu gave no-one in my home any side effects at all and we've all been on it, an andult female, and adult male , a 10 year old female and an 11 year old male. My DH has a very sensitive belly and was suprised it had zero effect on him.... but I will say we ate with each and every dose.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. I slept most of the afternoon and then was up for a few hours and went back to bed at around 9:00. I've been waking up every 45 mins or so and finally decided to get up and have a cup of decaff tea. I haven't had the fever or chills today, that was all Thursday nigh/Friday morning, and the low blood pressure I am sure was a result of dehydration. I have been drinking juice and ginger ale so I think that is probably all right now, too. My problem now is mostly intestinal so I am comfortable with the doctor's diagnosis that it isn't the flu. I'll find out soon enough if having a cup of hot tea is mistake, but I am hoping it will settle my stomach a little.

When you are up in the middle of the night and you seem to have all the symptoms of H1N1, it is a little scary.I had to find out for work because if I was diagnosed with Swine I would have had to stay out of the office for a week so as not to infect others.

My DS just finished a round of Tamiflu also and had no side effects at all unless you call shortening the duration of his Flu bug whether it was the regular seasonal or H1N1. Sure, those nasty side effects that your doctor mentioned are listed as "side effects" on the box of Tamiflu but alot of other common prescription meds including antibiotics list the same ones also.
However, for Tamiflu to be effective you have to start it within 48 hours of the onset of your symptoms.

I hope you are feeling better very soon!

Wow, You say your very ill, If I where that ill, I'd be in bed and not on a computer... I think your not feeling that bad if your on the computer...
