I'm trying to install Realplayer.

I keep getting an error message that says....

You currently do not have administrator access to the Windows Registry. Please see your System administrator to install RealPlayer

I have Windows XP and only one account set up. Therefore, I would be the System Administrator, I consulted myself, but still didn't get the answer ;)

Another friend on another forum tried to help me out, but she couldn't figure out what was wrong either.

She had me check my user groups to make sure I was the system adminstrator, and I am. She had me Clean System Registry, which I did.

And I still am getting the same error.

I e-mailed support at RealPlayer and they told me to check with my system administrator  . So I have sent another e-mail to them, and I am waiting for a response.

Can anyone help? Why isn't it working!?!

are you using xo home or pro?

Maybe you could try deleting & re-making your account, seeing as how all you'll lose is your settings for the style of xp which can easily be resimulated in like 1 minute

are you at home or at work? if you are at work, they have probably blocked you from doing any installations.

Edited to add: I am using XP Home.

It's my home computer :). I've insalled many other things, and never had that error come up?

here's how you do it...

got into your control panel (start --> settings -->control panel)

double-click on user accounts.

Click on "create a new account"

type a name for the account.

make sure "computer administrator" is selected & click finish.

log off your account onto the new one you made,

go back to user accounts, delete your old acct.

remake it like stated above, log off the temporary acct & back on to your new old one.

delete the temp acct.

try & install real player :)

Thanks :), I tried this, but it didn't work :(, but I do appreciate your help.

I even tried temporarily uninstalling my firewall and anti-virus. Still no luck :(.

I don't know what is wrong with my computer?
