I'm trying to decide what to do on my first day at WDW on Sunday, December 1, 2002.

If you're going to be at WDW on Sunday, December 1, 2002, what would you like to do?

  • Character dinner inside Magic Kingdom before entering Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

  • EPCOT's Christmas Processional dinner package, Illuminations, then out the International Gateway to

  • Dinner at DownTown Disney, then attend Cirque du Cirleil, and then shopping at MarketPlace and touri

  • Sunset dinner window seating (difficult with a group) at the Contempoary Resort California Grille (o

O.K., I know that you are sick of seeing post all this stuff, but I can't help it.

I will probably arrive at the beautiful, glorious Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort on Sunday afternoon, December 1, 2002. I will be kind of tired because I will have just gotten off work, the night before.

But, I want to see who might want to do something together as a group.

I know that the official DIS-CON-II itinerary hasn't come out, but I want to suggest some ideas and let everyone else with different experiences vote, and more importantly suggest new ideas.

RaySharpton :)

These are all great ideas Ray. I would lean towards CP, but I don't know if it's possible to do that and to tour the resorts on the same night, especially if it's your first night. I know that you guys were a bit rushed last time, and that was without adding CP.

I want to wait until there's a big crowd to do MVMCP again. I liked doing that after DIScon last time although there's nothing wrong with going a couple of times I suppose. I guess that I'm going to have to get to WDW a day earlier this time so that I don't miss any of the fun.

John, I'm hoping to do MVMCP AFTER DIS-Con as well. :)

Ray, I am leaning towards Candlelight Processional.....OR.....resorts tour. Both wouldn't work.

Wait a minute, I think we've talked about Hoop Dee Doo on this night.....in place of Whispering Canyon. We've also talked about Cirque de Soleil on one of the evenings BEFORE DIS-Con. Hmmmmm......... ((decsions, decsions ;) ))

Hi, John! How are you doing?

I agree with you.

My preference for MVMCP is on the last day of DIS-CON-II on Sunday, December 8, 2002, like we did last year when, I think, Tia planned the dinner/MVMCP meet..

It sort of made us feel happier after the sad, but happy, closing breakfast. We have to make sure that Steve keeps one hand on his santa claus Mickey hat when he rides down Splash Mountain...hahaha.

And the following Monday, December 9, 2002 would be a great Christmas Processional/dinner package follow-up.

Last year Steve planned that way in advance and only Barb, Steve, Frank and I went, but it was great.

I plan on going to the Christmas Processional/dinner package twice and going to the MVMCP twice anyway.

Personally, if there's a MVMCP on Dec. 1st or 2nd, I'll probably go then. I was TOO POOPED from lack of sleep to fully enjoy MVMCP on the last day of DIS-CON! The Candlelight Processional is every night, so that's not hard to fit in.

Ray my experience with MVMCP is that the first night is the Thurs after Thanksgiving. Other than that I have no suggestions. We arrive at WDW on the first also.:)

Hi, Tia.

The resort tour after the Christmas Processional wouldn't include the WL or GF. Since their is a boat launch at the EPCOT's International Gateway exit to the BW, B&YC and S&D it would be easy to tour after the 9:00 or 9:30 P.M. Illuminations.

Or we could just enjoy the atmoshere at night along the water front Boardwalk or go to Disney MarketPlace to shop and see their decorations.

Linda said, in her tentative itinerary, tat she would try to get group prices for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review Dinner and that would be great fun. I hope that it's not on the DATW night, but if it is it would be a tough decision, especially since she is planning a Karoke Night.

So we need open nights for:

1. EPCOT's Christmas Processional-dinner package.

2. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party with character dinner planned before.

3. Hoop-Dee-Doo Review dinner and marshmellow-stick-fire-cook.

4. Holiday Tour with dinner.

5. Cirque du Cirleil and dinner.

What else?

I know that MVMCP and Cirque du
Cirleil have very limited nights, while the other three can be done every night, based on availability of Priority Seating.

So many decisions!!!!!!

Any ideas???

Hi, DaveH (Dave) {I'm sorry that I called you Alan. I don't know where that came from. lol}! I think that you are right. Here is a quote from last year's Deb Wills site with 2001 dates:

The 2001 dates are: November 29, 30. December 2, 6, 7 (SOLD OUT), 9, 11,13, 14 (SOLD OUT), 16, 18!!   From 7:00pm to Midnight.   Gates usually (but not always) open before 7:00pm. (NOTE:
The 7:00pm time is new; previous MVMCPs opened at 8:00pm).

The 28th was Thursday.
The 30th was Friday.
The 2nd was Sunday.
The 6th was Thursday.
The 7th was Friday.
The 9th was Sunday.
The 11th was Tuesday.
The 13th was Thursday.
The 14th was Friday.
The 16th was Sunday.
The 18th was Tuesday.

It seems like the days change a little every year, but it looks like that if you are going to be at DIS-CON-II from December 4-8, 2002, and if you come three days early or stay one day after, that only leave two Sundays open. I think that they have a tentative official dinner event on Thursday and the unofficial DATW will be on Friday during the convention.

Decisions...decisions...and only 8 or 9 months to make up our minds...lol...hahaha.

NancyIl, when did you go to MVMCP last year? Was it on te night before the official 6:00 A.M. official Character Breakfast...lol...hahaha!!!

RaySharpton :)

But what am I saying? They could change the days around this year!!!

Ray - I went to MVMCP the same day as you - Dec. 1st! Since Thanksgiving is late this year (Nov. 28), I'll bet there will be a MVMCP scheduled for the Sunday or Monday after Thanksgiving - which is Dec. 1st and 2nd. My family won't be with me this time, so I will have to return home on Dec. 8 or 9. :(

I voted on the Cirque du Soleil thingie. I'll be at the World starting on November 28th (and may be playing tour guide...not sure yet ;) ), and I think Cirque goes dark somewhere around the 3rd of December (where did I read that?). Also during that time of year, Cirque usually offers discounts to annual passholders if I'm not mistaken, which makes the $75 price tag a little easier on the wallet.

I really want to do all of the above, so I guess I'm in trouble. I loved doing MVMCP as a group, like we did. It was so much fun! I do want to do the Candlelight Processional as a dinner package again. That worked out so well. Hope we can coordinate well enough that we don't get separated this year. I guess a lot of these plans will just have to wait until we hear from Pete and Linda. It's hard for me to pick days for things when I don't really have a feel for what's happening at the convention. I'm in WDW a few days before and a few days after, so I think (hope) I have plenty of time to fit it all in and have some time to sit at the pool once in a while. :D

You're right, Steve. Here are the black out date from their web site:

Show Schedule
Performances are held from Thursday through Monday at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The show is dark on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

La Nouba will also be dark on the following dates in 2002:

February 4 and 7
April 1 and 4
May 28 to June 12
July 22 and 25
September 9 and 12
October 21 and 24
December 3 to 11

Tickets
Reservations can be made up to
six months in advance:

Walt Disney World® Resort
call: (407) 939-7600.
Ticket Prices ($US)
Adults: $67.00 plus tax
Children (3-9 yrs.): $39.00 plus tax.

It's going to be a hard choice. So many things to do on Sunday, December 1, 2002 and Monday, December 2, 2002.

I'll put you down for tentative host for Cirque du Soleil (I finally spelled it correctly...lol) with dates and times to be announced.

Actually all the DIS mini-meets and hosts and dates are tentative until we get closer to the convention. I guess we won't get to sleep again with these 24-hour days...lol,...hahaha.

RaySharpton :)

That's fine, Ray. Go ahead and put me down to host. We'll figure out the details later. Let's see, 6 months from December is.......June! Hopefully by then we'll know what's going on.

Are you turning into a commando, Ray???? :D

As for the Incredible Hulk, Barry.....I could do it. I love that coaster! ;)

I am voting for Cirque. If we do it, it looks like we would have to get it in early!

I'm glad that you are hosting this Steve, because last year, you got our Christmas Processinal when they opened up last August, I think. And people had a difficult time getting their choice of restaurants and shows that they preferred.

If you choose December 2nd or 3rd, which are the last days before most DISers arrive and leave for DIS-CON-II; I bet that they sell out very early. I'm staying past the 12th when they start up again.

Exactly what is a commando? I thought it was tose guys that spent all day at the park, running from ride to ride. I can't run...lol.

I'll put your name on the list, too, Carol.

Barry, I love roller coasters, too, and I've got your name down for hosting "Ride the Mountains" and "Thrill Rides" and participating at Karaoke singing rap and Dayna's Slumber Party and Barb's Scavenger Hunt. Or were you hosting those last three DIS mini-meets, too?

Ray :)

LOL Ray-Barry hosting all those mini-meets! I just know he'd love to host a scavenger hunt!! It was his favorite event last year! :D:p :p
Ray, a DIS-CON commando is not a person who runs through the park, it's one of those silly people who plans, plans, plans, and makes endless itineraries, and comes up with all sorts of ideas for mini meets. Looks to me like if you look under commando in the dictionary, you'll see your picture, Ray! But don't stop, I'm finding this a great help while we wait for official news. :D :D
I'd rather see a MIB marathon than a Hulk marathon! :)

Patrick and I wanted to co-host a Hoop De Doo meet BEFORE DIS-Con.....but we are waiting to see if it becomes one of the 'official events'. :) Patrick, where art thou? :D

Hi, barb! I guess that I am a commando then, and I didn't even know it.

Now, I remember Tia with commando under her name last year...lol.

I was just teasing Bobby Hom about the last three...lol.

I guess that I was determined to have a list of names of those going to DIS-CON-II this year.

I didn't get to meet everyone last year.

I need a check-off list...lol...to make sure that I say hello to everyone.

I figure that I can print a list of names out before I go, like I did with Patinmn's itinerary and use it at the welcoming reception and search for those that aren't there...hahaha.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhh, Tia! Wouldn't that be great. I've never been to Hoop-Dee-Doo Review dinner before and I would love to go.

I'm hoping that it might be an official event, too. Wouldn't that be a hoot with all of us DISers...lol?

I'm sorry that you don't want to do the Fantasyland mini-meet, but I understand. I bet someone else who hasn't been before will do it.

I guess that those of us that were there last year want to try something new and different, but there are probably a lot of DISers that are new this year would love to do the things that we did last year.

Decisions...decisions!!

Ray :)
