Hey, guys! :wave2: I've had a less than stellar month in sales on eBay because I listed a bunch of stuff that didn't sell, and the fees were a bit too much. Anyway.....

You never know just what will sell on eBay. Sometimes you pick up a bargain when you're out and about, thinking it will be a hot seller, only to find it to be a flop and you take the loss. It seems like the things that sell are the things that have just been laying around the house that you think no one would want or need....which brings me to my latest hot bidding item.

My parents moved recently, and in so doing they unloaded their entire record collection on me. I gladly took them all. We still have Disney records we listened to as kids. Well, a couple of the records are these picture discs, which are records that are made of an entire picture on front and back (does this make sense?). Anyways, I couldn't imagine who would care about these records, and I didn't find many on eBay. I decided to list this Jungle Book picture disc and started the bidding really low at $1.99. I got 1 bid right away, and I was kind of surprised.

Well....the auction ends in just over an hour, and I just checked the bids. It's at $21.75!!! :earseek: That is unbelievable to me. I guess my trash is someone else's treasure.

Thanks for letting me share,

Liz :wave2:

Good for you
somebody must collect them or want it for something
is it pretty easy to sell on ebay
what kind of fees are involved
it is something that I could do pretty easily if I put my mind to it?
I just haven't decided if its worth it or not

Ebay can be quite surprising.

I grabbed a bag of toys at the Goodwill for $6. I figured I would sell the Rescue Heroes that were in it.

Who knew they wouldn't be the big seller? The ugly Small Soldiers action figures in the bag were. I had no idea!

And the albums, well I collect old Disney albums, so the bid price on the picture disc doesn't surprise me at all.

luv2nascar, check out the budget board. There is an excellent thread on ebay over there. That is what helped me decide to start selling.

Well, if you've got a lot of stuff lying around the house that you want to get rid of, it might be worth it. It's fun too! The fees aren't bad, as long as you start your bidding low. Another way to save yourself money on shipping supplies is to ship by Priority Mail. Those shipping supplies are free. I order my boxes, envelopes and tape right from USPS online, and they deliver it to my house within a week or two. Not that I ship that way exclusively...it just depends on what I think is best for the item I'm selling.

Well, those are my tips...

Liz

It's a great feeling when something goes for more than you thought on ebay.

I once sold an old military manual from 1918 that I got from a National Guard museum which was closing. I put it on ebay and two hours before the auction ended it was going for around $10 which I thought was OK. I left the house for a while, and when I came back it had sold for $75! The buyer was an RAF officer in Scotland who was interested in the particular subject covered in the book.
