Hey everyone. I have been pouring over all these wonderful dining threads and looked at more photos of food then I ever dreamed existed and yet I still and totally lost.

I am going to WDW for 8 days with my husband and 2 daughters (10 and 7) and we will be on the DDP.

We have been before but have never done the plan (okay, so it was 2001 last time we were there and I don't think the plan even existed then) and I don't know what to book.

We want to make the most out of our TS credits and I am looking for some suggestions.

I would like to do a charactor dinner but not sure I want to use 2TC credits on one. Is it worth it to use 2 or is there a good one for 1 TC credit? The girls would love to see a princess or 2. We did the breakfast at the castle way back in 2001 and we were so disappointed in the food.

Can someone give me some other good dining suggestions?

I am just so overwhelmed that I don't even know where to start!

Thanks everyone!

Sarah

Welcome to the DIS! I'm sure you'll find lots of suggestions since nearly every restaurant at WDW has it's supporters here, everyone has their favorites! Since that is the case, and I have a princess myself, I'll post some of ours:
For Princesses: 1900 Park Faire at the GF is a great dinner buffet with Cinderella, Prince Charming, The Fairy Godmother and Suzy and Perla. Also there is a princess breakfast in the Norway pavilion at Epcot. Both are 1 ts credit.
In the MK we like: Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern.
In Epcot we like: Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki and Le Cellier.
In MGM: Mama Melrose's and (hit or miss sometimes) Hollywood and Vine.

We also love Chef Mickey's for breakfast (we weren't wild about dinner there although there are tons of people here who love it), Whispering Canyon Cafe, Trail's End Buffet, 'Ohana, and Hoop De Doo.

I'm sure that lots more people will join in and give you their favorites too, there are so many choices it's nice to have something for everyone! Good luck and happy planning!

Thanks so much Kristin's mommy!

We have done the breakfast at 1900 park fair but I didn't know it was a character dinner as well! Must do that one! The girls will love walking around the hotel too!

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply!

Hi, Sarah.

Some of the 1TS credit dinner's I have been to with my nieces (ages 3 and 4) that we really liked were:

Norway Princess Meal at Epcot (we saw Ariel, Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine and Sleeping Beauty) and we REALLY liked the food

1900 Park Fare: (Cinderella, Prince Charming and the two mice Suzi and Perla: Food was good too. Oh and the fairy Godmother was at the check in for pictures.

Crystal Palace (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore): We all enjoyed the food there too.

Good luck to you. The ADR selection is my favorite (and sometimes frustrating) thing to plan.

Missie :santa:

Thanks Missie!

Does Norway Princess Meal run all day or is it breakfast only?

They actually have a character Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. I know that a lot of people eat there for breakfast as the food is Norwegian but I LOVED my dinner there and I am not someone who typically goes for "new" food. You can check their menu's out at the link below (just scroll down to Epcot and they are the first 4 menu's listed-including children's menu). It is a GREAT meal to meet MANY PRINCESSES but they do vary from day to day. You'll see 5-6 though at the meal. They come around the room for pictures and autographs and it was terrifice

wonderful!

thank you so much!

I am starting to feel better about this whole thing...

Since you are under your 180 days you can call now. If you have an plan to eat at LeCellier, you might want to call and get that ADR now. You can call for the rest as you decide. I always call for my LeCellier time first, then work my other plans around that day. Since you may be there during the free dining this year if your ticker is correct, you need to start making your ADRs very soon. It usually takes me 3 or 4 calls to get all of my ADRs, plus you can continue to tweak them. But if you are there during late August or most of September you will need to get going on the ADRs. I'm not trying to pressure you, just some guidance. You'll be glad you did. Plus making one or two at a time at the beginning gives you a feel of how the whole system works.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'll start calling today. Hadn't thought that far ahead to actually make the phone call! I was making the call in my head but hadn't gotten around to actually call!

We don't use the DDP, so I'm not sure how many credits these restaurants are, but they will entertain your girls, and you and DH will enjoy the food:

Garden Grill - the BEST character interaction, IMO. And it has Mickey (if you do a character meal, what good is it if you don't get Mickey! LOL!).

Coral Reef - the tank is a WOW for young kids.

Morocco - the girls will like the belly dancer (not racey at all).

Kona Cafe - food is lovely, with special desserts that the kids will go for.

And make an ADR for whatever restaurant is in your resort. It's nice to have one day where you go to the parks early, but return to your resort for the afternoon and evening. Swim a little, shower up, have a nice dinner, then hit the hay! Perfect for the midway point of your vacation.

The Boma at AKL is amazing - the best buffet in WDW. We have been loads of times and all really enjoy it, even my very fussy DS2.
Chef Mickey is great, lots of fun but hard to get a ADR for so ring early.
My youngest adores Cystal palace for Pooh bear and co.
The food in Norway and Morroco is very good.

I am not sure if you are going in august, but I have called to schedule the 1900 fare for dinner and was advised that it was closed for refurbishing and that the character meal will be held at the Café and will not be a buffet. My favorite character meals are Crystal Palace, and garden grill.

For the most princesses, you'll want to do Akershus in Epcot--any meal. We did dinner and had a nice time and decent good.

My kids' favorite is Chef Mickey's. My DH and youngest like Crystal Palace. We're returning to both places for the third time in as many trips.

We're also trying Garden Grill, Coral Reef, and '50s Prime Time for the first time this trip.

We liked and are returning to 'Ohana, Mama Melrose (for the Fantasmic package), and Kona Cafe as well.

If you're staying in a deluxe resort, you really eat somewhere at your hotel. We stay at the Poly, so we always eat there.

Beyond that, just relax. I've found all Disney restaurants we've tried to be fine and kid friendly.
