I'm totally confused by pricing.

I'm looking to book a 2 bedroom villa at BLT in early December for 8 nights.

Per MouseSavers, this will fall into the "Fall" rate season and the rack rate for a Lake View 2 bedroom Villa at BLT is $800 per night.

Some pretty easy math brings that to $6,400 for the room (8 nights x $800). I calculated out Magic Your Way tickers for 9 days (4 adults, 2 children) at about $1,300-$1,400.

All of this adds up to about $7,800.

So, just for grins (and because BLT can't be booked with cash for December yet), I went onto waltdisneyworld.com and priced out an identical package for early November (still in the "Fall" rate category) and it comes out, all in, at $9,200.

While I was assuming there would be additional taxes I wasn't account for, $1,400 seems a pretty huge difference. Am I missing something here?

I'm not sure in the ticket end, but room tax is 12.5%, so that's an additional $800 right there.

Start with pricing out the room only.

I did mid November (at Fall rate). 8 nights @ $800 came to $7200 including tax.

I added 9 day base tickets for your 4 adults and 2 children (no park hoppers, no water parks) and came to a package total of $8800.16.

If I were you I'd seriously look into renting points for this. You can rental through DIS sponsor DVC by request for almost half the price. The pricing structure for points rental is a little different depending on dates but to give you an idea you I priced out 12/5 - 12/13/11 and you can rent for $4368.00. DVC by Request is a very reputable company. If you consider doing this I urge you to contact him NOW as DVC members will be able to book Bay Lake Towers very soon.

HTH! :wizard:

I know renting points is vastly cheaper. However:

- I'm simply not comfortable with renting points and trusting said person not to screw me. I know such a thing would be vanishingly rare, but it's simply not worth the possible hassle for me.

- I very much want a full hotel experience (cleaning/room service/ec). Renting points won't afford me that.

Thanks for the recommendation, though. You guys/gals are awesome.

I understand and respect where your coming from. I was thinking a little about this tonight and just wanted you to know that DVC by Request is a company that you are renting from versus an individual - thus giving you security in the reservation and minimizing the risk. Also I believe you can pay for daily housekeeping, and I bet it'd still come out a lot cheaper.

*found mousekeeping prices over on the DVC board.
Additional Full Cleaning Rates:

Studio/Inn Room - $30.00 per day requested

One-Bedroom - $45.00 per day requested

Two-Bedroom - $60.00 per day requested

I just wanted you to have all the info.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:
