I usually take a nap before I go to bed!
All joking aside, I used to be sooooooo tired during the early evening, from about 7pm -- 9 pm. I mean, I would be so tired I could cry (and often did). Then, after I'd get the kids in bed. clean up, pack lunches and backpacks, and lay out clothes for the next day, I'd be wide awake! No matter how tired I'd be in the evening, I'd wake right up later on. However, I recently started taking a multi-vitamin supplement. Within a few days I noticed a difference. I now don't have that awful early evening slump. I feel better in general throughout the day. I'm not trying to sell or promote any vitamins, however, the brand is important (I tried taking other brands without much improvement). Well, you can buy them in the mall at a large chain which starts with a 'G' and ends with a 'C'. Honestly, I do think their brands are a better quality. BTW, DH also takes my "adult" vitamins with similar results, and both children take a kids vitamin from the same store. When you look at our hetic lifestyles and poor eating habits (I mean us as a nation, not just my family), it should come as no great shock that many of us are simply malnourished. We have access to the best food supply in the world, but most Americans consume a less than optimal diet. Of course, a vitamin pill doesn't make up for poor dietary habits, but its a help. Also, here's something else that had a noticable effect on me--I read somewhere that the majority of Americans are dehydrated. We think we drink enough liquids, however, we don't. And remember, caffiene such as coffee, tea, cola drinks, actually dehydrate you further. Well, I started increasing my fluid intake, mostly water. Milk and juice count, too. It seems I'm more alert and less fatigued since the "water cure." Crazy as it seems, some of us may be plain malnourished and dehydrated.
