I'm sure to get alot of differing opinions, but where to go?

We have a Sept. Disney trip planned. We will be meeting our future DIL while we are there. What would be a nice place to go for dinner the first night she arrives. I want something nice but more on the quiet side so we can all talk. I'll save the fun places for later in the week.
What would you all suggest?

But if I were the one choosing.......it would be Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge.

no, let me clarify. I don't think we would like Boma's.

If I were going...I'd choose Jiko at AKL.

the food is truely amazing and, IMO, not really "out there" as some may think.

One of the best dinners I have ever had was at Artist Point. The steak was perfect and I love the Berry Cobbler.

We went to Jiko just a couple months after it opened. It simply was not our cup of tea. But since that time, they have changed chefs, and probably modified the menu somewhat. We haven't gone back. We might try it again sometime in the future.

When we are in WDW for our anniversary, my DW and I always try to get into the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. It's a very elegant steakhouse and not noisy at all. The food is excellent, although it is a bit $$.

Yachtsman Steakhouse would be an excellent choice!

The food is wonderful as is the service. We have eaten there every trip since they opened and would not dream of missing it.

Jiko and Flying Fish would be very good choices, too.

The food is very good and it's on the monorail line (I'm not sure where you're staying so it may/may not be convenient). The view is superb, especially if you can time it with the MK fireworks and the water parade. Plus, with the change to the reservation system (you can't get into the restaurant without one), it has become much more sedate.

The Flying Fish ain't half bad either!

California Grill is one of our favorite restaurants actually. The last time we were there though (July) it was very noisy. What about Concourse steakhouse? Then after dinner we could watch the MK fireworks and maybe catch the electrical water parade. Artist point sounds nice too.

You should know that Yachtsman is a "signature" and would require 2 credits each--but it is a good choice as is Artist Point. I would avoid FF because it is quite noisy.

If not then I say Citricos. It is a lovely restaurant that is nice and quiet.

If yes, then I'd say go for the Grand Floridian Cafe or Kona Cafe.

No, upscale won't bother her (I think). My DS likes the "finer things" so hopefully she does too or she's in for some trouble......LOL

I'd say Jiko or Artist Point, too, They are both serene and unhurried. Fabulous food. AP might be a trifle quieter, depending upon where you are seated. I think CG is a little noisy, too (although I love the food!)

(BTW - the first time I met my (now) SIL, he and my daughter arrived at our hotel in the middle of the night, woke us up, shared our room - and he talks in his sleep!! A lot!! We love him, anyway. )

You didn't mention where you were staying, but I would vote for Artist Pointe also. It is probably the most quiet and "romantic" atmosphere you will find, and overall the Wilderness Lodge is so nice. You could walk around the grounds and have a drink at the bar there by the restaurant, and then go to a very nice dinner. You can easily take a cab to the Lodge from another resort if you don't have a rental car.
