I received our homeowner's insurance renewal bill (private insurance)... OMG!!! Now, I expected a big increase, but this one has me  :faint: We used to pay about $1800 a year, not including flood coverage. The new amount is $4105!!!!

I'm stunned! :confused3

Time to find a new insurance company.

Paying for all the hurricane payouts...........AND future payouts

It's not so easy to find a new insurance company for Homeowners coverage. ESPECIALLY in South Florida!

Good Luck Rita, hopefully your insurance will say it is a mistake or something.

I'm in S. FL, not near the water, but it doesn't really matter. I called my agent and they are supposed to call me back. I'm hoping that they automatically increased our home's insured value due to the property values going up. I don't know... :confused3 At least, they didn't cancel our policy. :bitelip:

OUCH! I would definitely shop around before paying that premium.
I noticed your are in Florida. I imagine the recent hurricane seasons have had an effect on premiums.
I'm in MD - Piedmonts, not the shore and our insurance went up considerably too. I impression is that we are all paying more because of all the weather related claims in the past couple of years.

I wish. There are so few companies issuing homeowner's policies, there really isn't much choice. :sad2:

Christmaself~ I hope it's a mistake, but I don't think it is. :sad2:

 Man, I was upset when ours went from $333 a year to $400. I guess I better shut my mouth and be grateful. Maybe you should check out a new insurance company.

When I first read your post I somehow missed the 0 in there and thought your insurance went way down, but the further I got in the thread I had to reread it. :scared: :scared1: :faint:

I thought $600 was bad. So sorry, I hope it is a mistake! pixiedust:

Holy ****! We just got our last renewal before all the huge increases. I am not looking forward to my renewal for next year, although I guess I should be thankful to just get a renewal.

Soon no one will be able to afford to live here. The insurance system surely needs an overhaul. I hope we can make a difference come November. :guilty:

Exactly! :sad2: :sad2:

Yikes we pay about 650 for two houses. (Although one house only has fire on it.) Both towns flood too but our houses are not in the flood zone.

OMG! that is insane! My stepdad was telling me that a man in his neighborhood (he lives in Fort Pierce) has made 2 small claims (comparably)during the last couple years hurricanes and his insurance company dropped him. He now can't get someoone to insure his house! That just doesn't seem right. :sad2:

Yet another reason I'm glad I don't live there anymore, used to live in S. Palm Beach county and areas of North Broward.

Renee, it's not right, but that's reality now. :sad2:

Ok, my home's insured value did go up. That's partly the reason for the rate increase. My home is now insured for $235K, that's what it would cost to re-build. I guess I should be grateful that our policy wasn't canceled. :confused3

Wow, maybe we don't want to move to Florida!! That is astonishing!
