Day 6, Part 7 In Which I Enter New Fantasyland For The First Time EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay everyone, you're in for a TREAT!!! If I do say so myself. I have the entire rest of my night at MNSSHP *Plus* my exclusive MNSSHP Video Diary for you today!!!
I AM GOING TO DISNEY WORLD IN 8 DAYS. SHUT UP AND GO HOME THIS CAN'T BE TRUE.
OH MY GOD.
Okay, let's get right on into this!!!!
I walked merrily from Liberty Square into Fantasyland, got more candy... and then I noticed something that practically made my heart stop.
It looked like - and I wasn't sure - but IT LOOKED LIKE PEOPLE WERE GOING INTO NEW FANTASYLAND.
NO NO NO NO NO.
There's no way.
Could this REALLY be the moment I would AT LAST see NEW FANTASYLAND??????
I caught this all on video and I love watching it. I captured a beyond magical moment of shock, awe, and joy!
I quickly made my way over to the entrance and there was like a wall of people trying to get in, mostly just standing around. Duh, people. Move!!! Do something.
I made my way to the right side of the mob and saw a opening where I could get through! OH MY GOD!
I spoke briefly to a CM who told me everything should be in operation. She was nice but I could barely speak to her, I was LOSING IT. Like, I couldn't form words.
If you thought I freaked upon meeting Eugene, FORGET IT.
No one has ever said "Oh My God" so many times out loud before. I just kept repeating it. There was nothing else I could say. Words were not forming in my head correctly as
I
WALKED
INTO
NEW
FANTASYLAND.
OH.
MY.
GOD.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?! I could not even believe my eyes.
There it was, Beast's Castle. Belle's House. Gaston's Tavern. Eric's Castle.
RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!
AND I HAD ACCESS TO ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO. Way. Just no.
I was in total shock.
I made my way to Eric's Castle first and I was literally floating on a cloud. There was no thought process, it was literally just me wandering through New Fantasyland with my head among the stars. I don't even know.
Eric's Castle looked absolutely PERFECT. I had determined this days ago, because you can see it from Regular Fantasyland. However, getting closer and closer made this even more clear to me. It's just so weird seeing something you have seen in animation for 23 years sitting right in front of you.
And you can go inside.
You can live it. Experience the fantasy that you so obsessed over as a child and lbr, an adult.
This is why these additions to the Magic Kingdom are genius. Because there is not just a building attached to another building that contains a Little Mermaid ride. It's literally Eric's Castle.
Eric was always my #2 crush behind Aladdin. He is now #3 that Eugene is in my life, but I still love him. I mean, what a hunk, and if you married him you would get to live A. On the beach and B. With a giant dog. So Eric rules.
I really think they need to have him greeting over here. This is my only grievance. I mean, it's his freaking castle, so where is he? You can meet Ariel in her Grotto, Belle in her house, Beast at his castle, and Gaston at his Tavern.
Where is Eric? Really.
Anyway, the best way to sum up New Fantasyland is that it is like stepping into The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast films. Moreso than any other Disney area, I would say. Certain rides/attractions elsewhere in Disney put you in that movie world, but as far as a whole area that makes it feel like you are literally a part of the film, New Fantasyland is it. ESPECIALLY the Beauty & the Beast area. But also, as soon as you enter the Under the Sea line, you are transported into Ariel's world. It's just remarkable. My dream is that they will one day do this same thing with Alice, and create Wonderland. Can you imagine? *dead*
@babybritney: I AM IN NEW FANTASDYLAND I AM CRYIGN SO HARD OH MYDGOIDODODDHSKBIKNBS
So I get in line for Under The Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid with more excitement than could ever be explained. Any new Disney ride is extremely exciting, but one based on one of my all-time favorite movies is just too much. I love love love love love LOVE LOVE the Little Mermaid.
The queue is quite long and very well themed and so interesting. Like I said, it is very immersive and takes you fully into Ariel's world. I was keeping an eye out for Hidden Mickeys, and an off-duty Cast Member who was dressed as a Haunted Mansion ghost actually pointed out the Nautilius to me!
I had completely avoided spoilers of New Fantasyland, so I had no idea that this even existed. Here is a picture of him pointing it out:
I LOVE THAT PICTURE. It's just so spooky and ominous.
I could not get a good picture of the Nautilius as my camera is not good in low light. For those who don't know, the hidden Nautilius is a tribute to the former 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction. The Nautilus is the name of the submarine from Disney's 20,000 Leagues movie. AWESOME.
Here is my "OMG I'M IN NEW FANTASYLAND OMG I'M ABOUT TO GO ON THE ARIEL RIDE OMG THE NAUTILIUS OMG" picture.
There is a game in the queue that I can barely even explain but it was so cool. I barely got to do it b/c the line was going so quickly but basically there are these portholes that you can look through and you will see little crabs passing through and all these objects sitting there. If you point out an object that doesn't go with the other ones, a little crab will come and move it. I was like WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON THIS IS SO COOL HOW IS THIS EVEN WORKING. It looks so awesome.
I've got gadgets and gizmos a plenty...
I've got whosits and whatsits galore...
You want thingamabobs? I've got twenty!
But who cares... no big deal... I want more.
I can't wait to go through the queue during #BirthdayFestivus13 because like I said, it is so detailed! I wanted to look at everything more. The wait was pretty much non-existent, and I can't even tell you how blessed I felt that I was getting to experience a nearly-empty new area that would surely be packed to the gills for months to come. AHH. It was just so special and unexpected and amazing.
I got to the loading area and FREAKED OUT AGAIN. I WAS REALLY ABOUT TO RIDE THIS. OH MY GOD.
I love the mural. It's so simple... just that scene of Ariel sitting there watching Eric and falling in love and dreaming. *sigh*
Okay so... I boarded my clamshell and braced myself for total and complete AMAZINGNESS.
This ride. I was just in awe the whole time. It was hard to take everything in. I sang along to all the songs the entire time and just enjoyed myself SO MUCH. Oh my God it was so much fun.
My first impression was mainly that while most of the ride was your classic Disney dark ride, I thought the transition of going from land to under the sea was exceptional and a step above. It was a fantastic effect and I just stared with my eyes as big as saucers the whole time!
My other favorite part is the very end with the wedding and the fireworks. I was tearing up during this whole experience, but that really made me cry. It was beautiful and I was just so in shock that I was even there, nevermind getting to ride this attraction. It was truly an incredible moment!
@babybritney: I have no words..........
After returning to dry land, I tried to figure out my next move.
I was VERY conflicted because the Boo To You Parade was about to begin. I thought this would be my last chance to see it and I was DYING to see it again. I mean, you know by now how much I absolutely LOVE this parade.
However, I had JUST GOTTEN INTO NEW FANTASYLAND!!!! I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE! Especially because I was worried that it would close early, I wouldn't be let back in, and I would miss my chance to see the rest of it. Remember, I had no idea I would be getting #StuckInDisney so I did not know I would get much more time to spend there.
I really wanted to meet Ariel in her fin, so I went to check out that line. It had a decent amount of people in it and I knew if I waited at that time I would miss Boo to You. I talked to the CM at the entrance and she said Ariel was definitely going to be greeting all night. FINALLY A CM WHO KNEW WHAT WAS UP WITH THE CHARACTERS. OH THANK YOU GOD.
That eased my worries about New Fantasyland closing early, so I left the line and headed out, excited to see my favorite parade ever for a second time, confident that I would be right back there after it ended!
I just had to have one of my cherry Mickey lollipops from my Trick or Treat bag. Yum!
I love that picture because it really shows my childlike excitement! Oh my God, I can not even describe the overall happiness of this night.
I still had a little bit of time before Boo To You, and I noticed Phillip and Aurora were out with a very small line, so I got in it!
The girl in front of me was dressed as brunette Rapunzel! AWESOMENESS.
I have never met Aurora or Phillip before, so I really had no idea what they would be like. Their personalities in the movie are nowhere near as distinct as say, Rapunzel and Eugene, so I really didn't know what to expect.
THEY WERE AWESOME.
It was clear that they were very close and they would make a fantastic improv team! They had that overly perfectly sweet Disney Prince & Princess attitude, but they also had a really awesome sense of humor and cool vibe. I loved talking to them.
They LOVED my costume and wouldn't stop gushing over it, and again, how glittery I was. I asked what they were going to be for Halloween and Phillip said that Aurora should go as SLEEPY THE DWARF. Aurora was like "HA HA, very funny!" and Phillip said, "I'm just kidding, my dear." in the most loving way, and then they held hands. They're perfect.
They then decided that they were going to have a Royal Halloween Party at their castle with me as the Guest of Honor!!! OH MY GOODNESS.
Phillip said, "Why yes, if Mickey can have a big Halloween party, so can we, don't you think, Aurora?" And she said "Yes, but I still haven't decided what my costume is going to be! Maybe I could get Miss Merryweather to turn my dress blue!" I LOVED THAT SHE SAID THAT B/C THAT IS OBVIOUSLY THE COOLEST PART OF THE MOVIE WHEN THE DRESS IS CHANGING COLORS AS THEY DANCE, OMG.
I suggested that they dress as each other for their Halloween Party and they got a kick out of it, omg. It was so cute. Then they just went on and on talking about how funny that would be and what it would be like to wear each other's costumes and stuff. OH I just loved these two, what a fantastic job they do!
We had been talking for kind of long so the character attendant was kind of trying to corrall us into taking the photo which I did not appreciate. Phillip and Aurora didn't miss a beat though, they just kept on talking! Seriously, they were going and going and I really think they would make a great improv team. Well, obviously they already do, but I mean... if they joined a comedy theater they would be wonderful at it! It was so lovely to meet them and I'm so glad I stopped by!
I was actually never thrilled by Sleeping Beauty as a child - I appreciate it much more now, especially because of the advances in animation that it shows. However, I have a new love for it after meeting Phillip and Aurora in person! I think it's stupid that this movie is not at all represented in the parks. Even though it's not my favorite, it deserves some credit! Sheesh.
I headed back through Regular Fantasyland and to Liberty Square for the parade! I sat in the exact same spot as the previous night - it's my secret special spot!
I didn't take any photos of the parade because I was taking video of my favorite moments. You will see that in my Video Diary from this night. I'm not going to go through how much I love the parade again, since you all saw that in updates from the previous night! So I will just say that the parade was OBVIOUSLY PERFECT AGAIN and I was just so ridiculously happy and loving EVERY SECOND OF IT!
