I'm struggling - old favorites or new places?

I just booked our trip and it is time to make some reservations. I am struggling because we had so many favorites our last trip and I want to go back to them. But there are lots of places we haven't tried either. I need to stay for a month! LOL

Here is how we solve this issue.

Depending on the days/meals you have we split them. Half for favorites then half for new ones.

This way we experience "new favorites" and old ones. :lmao: It always happens that at least 1 of 2 new places gets on the favorites list.
Which adds to more issues the next time we go. LOL

never find new favorites without trying new places. You will not enjoy your favorites without trying them again. Pick a mix - somewhere between 33% and 67% old and new and have fun.

We try to add at least 1 new restaurant every trip. Sometimes we do more new ones, but aim for at least one.

We do the same thing. There are always some restaurants that we have to eat at, like Cape May Cafe and Crystal Palace. Then we try to add a few new places each time we go. Our new restaurants for our upcoming trip are Les Chefs de France, LeCellier, the Garden Grill and CRT. We can't wait

We make the same struggle each time. Like other posters, I try to do half faves and half new places. I think I've been to almost all, except the signature dining, but DF is only 2 trips into his new Disney life. So, it's like the best of both worlds for me since a lot of my faves, are still new to him. :)

I am having the same problem. I wonder each time if I should try a new place then hear a bad review and debate if I should try it or go to someplace I know is good. The ones I debate about the most is Coral Reef and Captains Grill. We have 7 new places scheduled this next trip (my 20+ trip).

Are there some restaurants you have not tried, but always wanted to? As our little delegation has gotten older we have experienced dining on a whole new level. We loved the Poly Luau this year, and look forward to Hoop De Doo next time. One little delegate loves San Angel Inn: it was fine but not so special, so we resolved not to return again for a while. Now they have upgraded the place, and we are having second thoughts.
What a happy dilemma!

I always have this same problem too. The more I go the longer my favorites list grows, but the shorter my "to try" list does. I think for my next trip (six days,) I don't have any new ones, but for my next next trip I have something like 18 favorites and only three new ones.

I guess we've been in the same boat: a couple of new places each visit mixed with our old favourites. This year we've decided to really break out and ONLY eat at places we haven't tried before. Could be an adventure! or not? We'll see.

Out of 17 meals we are doing 9 places that are "new" during our October trip

I would do one new place a day & one old - one for lunch then one for dinner
if your table service for the day is one that is new then the counter service should be one that you know you will enjoy. This way if the new one is bad then you know the other should be good (I'm assuming that you have the reg DDP)

We struggle with the same thing with not only restaurants but resort.. I say mix it up, try a few new go back to a few old faves.. Thats what we have been doing last couple of yrs.. Only problem is each yr we fall in love with more restaurants! LOL

Same situation here and I've decided we are goping to try all new TS restaurants. :hippie: I'm looking forward to it actually and so are the kids and DH. It's going to be hard though to skip 'Ohana which is our first night tradition and Tony's which is our last night tradition. :hyper:

Good luck! :goodvibes

This is our plan too. we also let everyone pick one place they want to go. That gives us our "favorites" and then we go from there taking turns talking about where we'd like to go until we have our options. Then those options are cut down if they're not available.

There are some tough choices that's for sure. I just finished up our ressies for our December trip a few days ago. I made sure to include some places that we've never dined at before. Specifically, Tutto Italia, California Grill & Raglan Road. I also added back Mama Melrose, we haven't been there in about 3-4 years. Excited to try some new stuff!!!

I try to put 1-2 new ones each trip. Before I deciede I let each member of my family choose one favorite. Then book the new places depending on what parks and days we still have open spots left.

:rotfl:I think the biggest struggle for me this trip is that my parents and my brother and his family are going. I find myself wanting to introduce them to our favorites which doesn't leave room to try new ones. So far, I have 3 favorites and 3 new ones booked. I am going to make one more (at least).

The other problem I am having right now is that we are trying to structure the trip without park hoppers and I want to eat at Epcot everyday! :rotfl:

So far the old standbys are:

Crystal Palace
Tusker House
Ohana

The new ones are:

Les Chefs (which I really wanted to try last trip and we cancelled to add something else)
Kouzzina
Boma (because we are staying at AKL)

I really really want to go back to Via Napoli but I can't seem to get a reservation for 11. I also want to try Kona Cafe (again, can't get a reservation for 11). I also thought about booking Mama Melrose for the Fantastmic package.

we plan our dining depending on how adventurous we feel at the time of booking and who we are bringing with us...this trip, we brought some first timers so we stuck mainly to our favorites that we could trust to always be good...then added a few new ones....
