I wikipedia-ed it. It sounds freaky and disturbing.
Vampires and blood and evil spirits and people who can never be together?
I understand that whole "unconditional love" but "Edward finds her so beautiful he nearly wants to slaughter her at first." WHAT?
Sorry guys, just too unusual for me.
I usually understand when this kind of stuff gets a certain amount of following, but this phenomena...this movie and insane amounts of bumper stickers and DIS discussion...I just don't understand!

amen.

i mean, i can dig a dark story and such.

it's just...

its a little too teeny-bopper - ish to me.

not to sound mean, but to me it's a "been there done that" story line.

but hey, it's just like harry potter. the obsession with that still makes me wonder.

i hate the whole thing. i've read all the books (thinking maybe i'd 'get it' if i read them)
i don't.

the books aren't even that good. i couldn't connect with any of the characters, and i had a deep dislike for every one of them.

What's wrong with discussing a book saga that we enjoy?

You realise that you just killed a twilight fan? never, EVER compare twilight and harry potter.

haii aussie kid =) xDD

well it is a pretty good story. you have to read it to find out 0.o try lol. its not as freaky vampirish as you would think. just like a high school romance with a vampire in it ^^

hon, i was describing the obsession with it.

i know that twilight and harry potter dont have the same sort of story line (besides magical teenagers that fall in and out of love).

the obsession with something that literally makes people that read actual horror/dark/love stories laugh is what i don't understand.

EMMA! If you dont make me the cinderella castle or Its a small world thing Im gonna hunt you down at school tomorrow and get the Volturi to take you down:rotfl2:

Still counts as Comparation (I made that word up. You say it Com-per-ation)

you should try it. either you'll be like, LYKOMGZ BEST BOOK EVERRRRR
or you can tell all the twilight geeks why you hate the book/series.

The reason you don't comprehend it at all is because you have never read the books. If you read it, I can't guarantee you'll like it, but I am almost positive you would be less creeped out.

I thought the preface was creepy when I read it at the bookstore so I left the book. I went to pick it up a week later and read the books and loved it.

I'll admit, even though I like the books, I don't get it either.
I don't know why I like them.
I know that the writing is somewhat awful (my friend has reread the books like a thousand times out of boredom and she started pointing things out to me...), I really dislike the main character, and Edward kind of talks like a book sometimes (this bugs me a lot, he'll talk like he was dictating a novel to a stenographer) and the main plot annoys me. The whole OMG VAMPIRES ARE CHASING ME annoys me.

So, I have no idea why I even like these books or read them. But I do, but it's mostly only to read about Bella & Edward's relationship...

I agree.
I cant stand them
Or clique
or Harry Potter

I tried reading them, with the same reason as Shelby, but I couldnt get hooked, infact it just makes me STRONGLY dislike them that much more.

The Clique is horrible.
I own two of the books because my mother bought them for me at Xmas because she wasn't sure what kind of book to buy.
They're extremely teeny bopper, use really stupid terms and act a lot stupider than anyone would have in grade seven.
And totally unrealistic.

But I totally love Harry Potter, always have, always will.

The first time I heard about these books I was like...yeah ok and thought they sounded so dumb.
Then I actually read one and got hooked.
Reading a description on wikipedia fails to do the book justice (I think it sounds stupid too on there)

Yeeeeeah....my sister is reading them right now and I keep asking her what's happening in them because I'm curious and it just sounds very........lame?
weird? ....different? something that i just cannot understand the obsession with. Just not something I'm into.

obviously different strokes for different folks though...i mean i have a strange obsession with TITANIC, I'm sure most people don't understand THAT. ;)

also...the movie looks pretty brutal.
anything with 1) Robert Pattinson WITHOUT a british accent
and 2) Suzy Crabgrass from Neds Declassified SChool Survival Guide
is a no-go for me. hehe.

Ahahahah, totally agree on the movie.
I don't even WANT to see that mess.
The actors in the movie have little to offer.
I mean srsly, Taylor Lautner? I think his biggest role was in Shark Boy & Lava Girl which looked pretty ****ty.
And Kristen Stewart annoys the hell outta me.

Agreed. The whole vampire thing is a little to weird for me. I didn't even read Harry Potter until I saw the movies, and I only had the books as they were gifts.

I like Robert Pattinson, but him without an English accent might kill it for me. Never thought about that.
And Suzy Crabgrass is in it? Whoa!
