Iam sorry about what they said but having used a ECV at the poly no way could you get 2 ecv ine room and be able to move around the room. I agree you should call and talk to some one that deals with people with dis abilities.

I'm just stating that I don't think it is fair that a person, actually, a couple with a disability does not get the same choices dollar-wise as someone who does not have a disability.

I'm very sorry that you have the need for two ECV's, but I must admit that I don't understand how the size of the rooms is unfair.
Room size is pretty standard at most hotels. At something moderately priced you never have much room if you are traveling with a family of 4 plus all the luggage. Disney offers many properties of varying sizes to try and fit everyone's needs. I truly am not trying to be disrespectful, but what did you expect them to do to accomodate you?

Rather than trying to move around with the ECV's in the room, I would look into renting some type that allow the battery to be removed for charging.

O.K. here is what I was told by a manager(Bruce) at Riverside. You can keep 1 of the ECV's in your room the other can be stored in the luggage room and be charged over night. The only problem is if the bellhops are very busy in the morning you may have to go retreive the ECV instead of it being delivered. Now CRO can not do anything to special request this-that is something you need to do yourself 5-7 days prior to arrival.

Names of who I spoke with:

Becky at the front desk of POR #407-934-5000(she is actually the one that did all the calling to the others)

Bruce is the manager that approved this at Riverside

Nadine is the one who approved this with the bellhops/luggage rooms

Let me clarify something because maybe my post was confusing.

I do not want Disney to anything!

It was a vent! That's all, a vent! It sucks being disabled and it sucks that we are not able to be able to have the same choices as other people. Is it anyones fault? NO! Should everyone in the world change things to accommodate me? NO!
My post was a frustration post plain and simple!!!!!!!!

Disney offers many properties of varying sizes to try and fit everyone's needs.

I agree, but they don't always fit everyones budget

Wow antkim, that is one of the nicest things I have seen anyone on this board do. Really so sweet of you to look for the solution.

It was my pleasure!! I enjoyed speaking to the different CM's and I was happy to know that they could help. It's also good information for me to know as well. As most of you know I will be working from home for a WDW TA very soon.

The thing is most people(not talking about us Diser's!! LOL) don't realize that CRO is just that.... Central Reservation Office-just like if you were to call 1-800-Marriot. They can only supply you with the information that they are taught or what is on their reservation system. If you want to know specifics or make a special request you really need to talk to the actual resort and manager. I do have to admit I'm a bit surprised that the CM didn't recommend this.

I also wanted to add that it goes to show that WDW really does try to accomodate every situation-it doesn't always work-but they do their best. A good example of this is peanut allergies(not starting a debate here!!). If a guest is willing to spend a bit of time making some calls to each head chef of each restaurant they would like to dine at they will make a "special" dinner for the guest with the allergy-you just need to call the day of.

It was quite funny when I was speaking to Becky. She was asking ?'s that of course I didn't know the answer to like"When will they be staying with us" etc. I skipped my way around those ?'s!! I was thinking "If she asks me their name I will just say 'phorsenuf from NH' "!!!! LOL

Hi, I was wondering if you had thought about maybe renting points from a DVC member.I looked and it looks like if you stay Sunday- checking out on Friday you could stay at OKW for about 100.00-110.00 a night.You can park right outside your room.They have huge rooms.But if you go in January you can get a room there for 80.00 a night.Just a thought but I think OKW is Awesome and there rooms are spacious and wonderful.I just checked and the studioes at OKW is nearly 400 sq ft.

I haven't read all the responses, so maybe this has already been suggested, but...
Why not try to rent points from a DVC member for an OKW 2 bedroom unit? You can request either a ground floor or elevator building for medical reasons, and the off-site ecv rental places will deliver your carts right to OKW before you arrive. If you are at all ambulatory and can walk a little, you can even keep the ecvs plugged in at the Hospitality House and pick it up on your way in and out of the park. Getting on and off the buses is a breeze, and a very good experience. I have done this two trips with great success.

BTW, there is plenty of room to park and charge 2 ecvs in an OKW living room! We did it once with a first floor unit and once with an elevator building.

I would call POR directly and give them your situation. I believe they would find away. I feel sure, I would be so disappointed if they didn't.

Off the subject completely. I know you are proud of your son serving us. Thank him for me and I'm sure the rest of us here on the DisBoards. I can't tell you how it touches my heart each time I see one of our young people who serve our country. I want to go and hug them and let them know. This way you can let him know.
By the way, He is very handsome.
