I am so sorry to ask this question which I know has been asked before - it's just that it is decision time for me and I want to be sure I do it right.
My DH is a DoD Civilian who works on a military base. We have gotten military AP's in the past, and we are eligible to stay at Shades of Green. I have no doubt that he is eligible for this discount.
The discounted price on the handout he was given is for a 10-day Magic Your Way Base Ticket for $232 which is $47 savings from the gate price of $279. If I understand from previous posts we would need to go to a park the first day of our stay and then upgrade to DVC AP's the next morning. If I've got it right, we would need to pay about $146 additional for each AP when we upgrade. We would save $46 per ticket. Is this correct?
We are going for 5 days in December and plan to go again for 3 days or so in September and then again for 5 in late November/early Dec 2011. So we should be able to get at least 10 days off the AP's - maybe more.
My only concern is this note on the price list from the Welfare and Rec office it says "The Military Ticket is not transferable. You must show proof at the time of purchase and at the time of use. If patrons give military tickets as gifts, they run the risk of having that person denied entry at the gate. Patrons can take non-military/DoD guests along but the rule of thumb is 50% with I.D. to 50% without ID."
As I said, I am confident my DH is eligible for these tickets - I just want to be sure we won't have any trouble upgrading them. Has anyone upgraded the Military/DoD tickets? Thanks in advance for letting me know if this is as good a deal as I have calculated and if anyone has had problems upgrading them to AP.
Thanks!
