Our company had to let some people go today.... I know that it's probably necessary at this point, and I know that I should be glad I wasn't one of them, but I'm sad. One of them was in our (Tamie and I) department.... there are two with the "same" position, and they let the wrong one go!! I'm so sad.... he was cool.... he was fun... and he did his work. Why don't they see things the same way I do????????????????????
I love my boss.... and respect him highly, AND I know this is not his "fault"..... he didn't want to do this, but WHY DIDN'T HE PICK THE OTHER GUY????? My boss came to me at the end of the day, and asked if there was anything we needed to talk about..... I told him he picked the wrong one...... he told me I needed to keep emotion out of it.... "it's about the company". I wanted to scream he was wrong.... I wanted him to take it back..... I wanted to spill all the frustration I feel for the one they kept..... it's not his fault, and I know he feels bad..... I know he wanted to let me talk, but he was hurting too and my opinion wasn't helping..... he wanted me to support his decision..... I don't. He said it was the right decision for the company....he told me to trust him...... I'm trying to, but it isn't easy. But I don't blame him...... I'm just SO SAD..... I lost a friend and got stuck with MR. YUCK!!! :( :o :( :o WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :( :( :( :( :(

I'm so sorry to hear about this situation. I had a real pain in the rear of a boss for my first several months (it seems like it was much longer, LOL!) with my company, but they finally saw the light and "let him resign." In the end I'm sure it will work out, but I am so sorry you lost a friend at work. It sounds like he is a great guy who will be able to find a good job someplace else soon. I'm sorry your boss didn't realize his mistake yet. :(

I'm sorry to hear that FB. . :( :(

Bad enough anyone had to lose their job, but worse that your friend was let go and the jerk got kept. . :(

Well, the way economy is going, maybe the jerk will be gone soon too. . LOL! ;) :)

Heidi, I am so sorry about your work situation. I have been through about 10-15 rounds of lay offs in 2 years time. It is never easy and it always leaves me feeling sad. I know that it is hard especially when you don't know why they picked who they did. Sometimes we had no clue and sometimes there are things that you can never understand when it comes to who is there and who isn't. I know that the first round for me was really like dealing with death. It really got hard when wonderful workers were let go and wonderful friends as well. I wish you all the best there {{{{HUGS}}}}

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie. Sorry that you are feeling so sad. I hope things work themselves out at work and you feel better about the situation very soon.

A big {hug} for you, Fish. Sorry to read what happened. Maybe a better door around the corner for your friend, and the one you dislike may be gone soon also. Try to smile. :)

(((((((HUGS)))))))

I'm sorry. It sounds like the situation really stinks.

I've been on both sides of the layoff fence and I know that it's hard to understand many of the decisions. It's OK and normal to feel upset and worried and to even mourn (or so I've been told). I'm very sorry to hear about your friend and I hope that things get better for you soon.

{{Hugs}} Been there done that. We had a layoff a couple years ago and alot of us sat around and scratched our heads over some of the people that got let go. Really made us wonder how much of it came down to a popularity contest over real work issues.

I went through something similar (although it was over 20 years ago). There was an opening in our department and we all wanted our supervisor to bring back a guy who used to do the job but left the company. He was willing to come back.

But our supervisor brought in someone from a different department instead. I was furious and outspoken enough to let my supervisor know it. I said, "What did you hire HIM for?!)

As it turned out, the new guy did an even better job than the one we wanted to come back.....

Oh, and I married him. :teeth:

Well, I can assure you I WILL NOT be marrying this guy..... AND, I already know he doesn't do a better job!

*SIGH* Anyone need a good marketing assistant somewhere??
