Some of you might remember all my rants last year about my youngest DD and her horrible teacher (if not, think of a Disney villian - then place her in a 2nd grade class!!). Jessie really struggled last year because of this woman. Well, yesterday, 4 tests that she had taken during the week came home to be signed - all A's!!!!:bounce: What's more important than the grades that she's been getting is the fact that she once again loves school!:p

Colleen

Congratulations to your DD. That's wonderful news. :) Glad to hear it.

(And it's nice to see someone else up at this hour on the DIS besides me :teeth: )

I DO remember the troubles and, I'm happy to hear she overcame a bad year. Same thing happened to me but, in 4th grade, HORRIBLE, NON-teacher, etc. I think your DD NEEDS to Learn AND Needs teachers to help her!! She seems VERY willing, able and ready to DO just that!!

My sincere Best wishes!!! She'll do fine!!!

You should be (I'm sure you are) ~ Proud of her!! ;) :smooth:

Ugggggggggg!! It really stinks to struggle with your child all year in a situation that isnt that easy for a mom to control. I feel for you! Its very stressful. Im very happy that shes having a better year! Good luck to you:D

I do remember all the teacher trouble you had last year! I am just so glad that it is all behind you now. Congratulations to your daughter on her excellent grades! I am so glad to hear that she is loving school again as well. Best wishes to you both :)

Teachers can make such a difference. Glad your DD has one this year to inspire her.

Glad to hear your daughter is doing so well after a horrible year. I'm hoping the same for DS! His teacher is a "yeller," something that's unnecessary in my opinion. Two days ago DS was wishing it was the summer! It's going to be a looooooooooooooong year. :(

Wow, that's really good. I had 7 tests this week, and managed to get good grades on them as well. :D

Thank goodness. I was so hoping she didn't have a repeat of last year. Yay!

We had a kindergarden teacher like that. The feeling I got of satisfaction when DS went into first grade and had such a wonderful teacher, the complete opposite of this nut who taught him kindergarden, well, I guess you know. I wanted to write her a letter and let her have it!

So glad Jesse is having a good school year, Colleen.

That is great, Colleen, so glad to hear Jessie is having a better year. Good news!!! :sunny:

So glad to hear your daughter is having a better year this year! I remember all the angst you guys went through last year with that terrible other teacher.

Just a thought...have you considered going back to the principal of the school now that Jess is out of her class, showing the principal how well Jess is doing now, and correlating her poorer performance last year with the effect of the teacher? Not going to help your Jess obviously, but may help another kid if the principal has some concrete evidence, ie-test scores, behavior reports from this year's teacher etc.

When I was in nursing school(obviously MUCH older than your little one!) I had an instructor who I felt was incompetent.I was particularly anxious when we were actually working on nursing units taking care of real patients, because I had no faith in this woman's ability as a nurse or instructor. Heck, I didn't know what I was doing, and needed the guidance of someone who did, and wasn't getting it. I struggled through the entire semester with this woman, passed by the skin of my teeth, and in her final evaluation she noted that since I was always so anxious when I was doing actual clinical work, perhaps I should consider another career! Well, the next semester, I had a WONDERFUL instructor...one who knew her stuff, inspired confidence, knew how to teach, knew how to care for a patient etc. She came to me halfway through the semester and asked me about the previous semester and the comments the previous instructor had made. She was surprised when she read my transcripts, as she had seen no sign of extreme anxiety etc. and thought that I was doing quite well actually.Well, I let it fly! I told her my fears, concerns etc, about the previous instructor. I found out later that this particular instructor put the same comment on everyone's final semster grade! Well, DUH! If the whole class is anxious and should consider another career, what's the common denominator???A lousy instructor!!!!!!!!!!!! The bad instructor quickly "retired" at the end of that year. It still burns me when I think how many good nurses may have been lost to her incompetence though:mad: .

Anyhow, off my soapbox now!!!!;)

I was actually thinking of going to the principal and telling him how great Jessie's grades are!:p Not that I want to say "Told you so!!", to him or anything!;) I saw him last week when I went into to the class to help and he asked how Jess was doing, I smiled and said "She loves it!", but didn't go into the grade aspect of it. She brought 2 A's home on the tests that came home last week as well. The math and reading test this week were not announced prior to the test so I had nothing to do with helping her study or anything. It was ALL her.:bounce: I think after her report card comes out in Nov and I have the parent/teacher conference, I'll stop in his office and pay him a visit! What floors me is that I know each and every year some poor child has to deal with this woman and all the parents complain. The district should do something about her!! It's something to do with her "tenure" or something. She is definitely not suited for such an impressionable age!

Colleen

Well, I know tenure is a very powerful thing, but it seems to me that if there is enough documentation about her negative effect on children, maybe they could find her a position elsewhere in the Board of Education, where she has no contact with students!
