This has been the 8th week I have been giving myself the shotof Avonex and I DIDN'T cry. I think I am starting to get use to it, I hope this is going to keep going this way week after week.the first 2 months I had a nurse doing it, but finally after them telling me most people do it themselves plus I was tired of sitting in an office waiting to get it done. the shot takes two seconds , I freeze my leg first so I dont even feel the first prick of the needle.

I've given thousands of shots to other people, but I know I would have a little trouble sticking myself. Well done!

(this was actually one to give to people who were brave after medical procedures, so it fits really well).

Congrats! You are on your way to independence. It will feel good to be the one to say when you will inject. It gives you some control of a situation that sometimes feels so out of control.
I'm so happy for you.

That is IM, right? You definitely get a huge gold star! As others have said, it does give you more of a sense of control over things to be able to do it yourself. Plus it is so much more convenient. Also, just in case it may be helpful to you (you likely already know about this), I like to have some emla cream around for when I have to do IM shots out of the house. It is a rx numbing cream that you put on and then seal with a tegaderm bandage (airtight) or some saranwrap taped on with paper tape. It totally numbs the area. The downside is that it has to sit at least 1 hour to work, but if you are out and about and cannot ice, if you plan ahead and put some on, it is great! Can you tell I am a big wimp? (I also love the inject-ease for sub-q, which pings the needle in for me). :D

But GOOD FOR YOU!!! I am very impressed! And I hope that your treatment works great.
