I'm puzzled - what is it about the Winnie the Pooh ride?

We liked it a lot, but my family really likes Winnie the Pooh. Even my husband, who is less of a fan, really enjoyed it. What my kids liked best though, was the queue. They had fun playing and wanted to go back :)

If it was the same Pooh ride that Tokyo has, I could totally see the demand...but as it is, no way we wait more than 10-15 for this one.

We ride it every trip and have never waited 50 minutes and never used a FP, but we do go during slower times. Plus it was our first ride of the day a few times, so that too decreases wait times. I agree with a pp who said it is about the nostalgia. I just love Winnie the Pooh!!!!

I love the Winnie the Pooh cartoons and don't particularly like the Peter Pan movie, but as far as the rides go I love Pan and like Pooh a lot less.

Pan is a older but it's more exhilarating because it's 3-dimensional and gives a wonderful illusion of flying out the window over the streets of London. The city lights look really cool. Later on when you're flying around Neverland there's an interesting moment of suspense where the swordfight is hidden from you by the the boat's sails until you turn around. The figures and scenery in Pan seem to be painted with old-fashioned stage paint which although it doesn't look "real", at least looks organic and solid.

Pooh on the other hand has a flat and 2-dimensional ride track. The vehicle and the scenery have a glossy, plastic-y look and feel (probably a lot more durable and easy to clean, but that's not my problem!) There seems to be a lot of mechanical noise or something because in my memory (it's been a few years) the noise level somewhat drowns out the music and sound effects. Overall, there isn't a very good illusion of being immersed in the movie.

Pooh would be better if the vehicles moved in 3 dimensions as for Pan. One would be more immersed in the action with the scenery and figures all around, above and below (think of those hephalumps and woosels). And the larger building would dissipate the mechanical sounds better (as in Pan and Haunted Mansion).

Anyhoo, the last time we went on Pooh it had a relatively low priority on our touring plan so we hit it in mid-afternoon. We didn't bother to get a FP-, and the standby queue was quite long (45 min.) and we found the interactive queue elements somewhat annoying (something about banging with a hammer) so we kind of zoned out watching other bored people playing with their phones. I think we'll probably skip this ride entirely next time.

We love Pooh and ride it every time we go. I think it was one of the few repeats, besides POTC, that we rode at DLR too. Don't waste an FP+ on it though, unless you are not going to ride any of the roller coasters, POTC, or JC. I got in line sometime near, probably after, lunch time in late July, and it had a ~20 minute wait. I waited. The new interactive queue is neat, even for adults. Best bet is to go during AM EMH, within an hour or two of park opening, or later in the evening.

I think the difference is due to less demand (therefore shorter waits) and directly related to three things: location, location, and location.

ETA: Too late, HMH. ;)

Mesaboy2 - was that you? Sitting behind us? I was trying to figure out what Too late, HMH ;) meant and then I remembered - the man and his wife were celebrating their anniversary and she mentioned that Haunted Mansion was closed and I said that she missed it by a day, as we rode it the day before it went down for the holiday overlay.

Actually, mesaboy's statement refers to me. We replied at the exact same time but his reply posted first... probably because he is the TotY Guy

The WDW version is a lot better than the one at DL, and worth trying at least once. And no, it definitely doesn't always have a 50 minute wait. Try it on a weekday morning, you should get on in 15-20 minutes, or even less.

Isn't that funny. I don't much care for the MK version but never miss a chance to ride it at DL.

That is funny! Do you intentionally walk to Critter Country for WtP or is it because you are in the area for Splash?

Pooh is definitely a nostalgia thing with me as an adult. I loved the books and read them all to my children. I don't wait in long lines for it, but I did wait in line to meet Pooh and Tigger. It's a personal preference thing - there are people who like Carousel of Progress, which I don't understand at all, and I am not bummed if I miss the TTA ride in Tomorrowland either.

You can walk on Pooh before 11am, 20 min wait max. After 11, the wait builds. We were there in December and the waits past 11am went up to 50 minutes. My husband and I like it, our 3.5 year old does not. She prefers Barnstormer or 7DMT! I think I like it because every time I ride it, I think of my little sister. She loved Pooh, and I have memories of watching the VHS videos with her when she was little!

I have been known to walk back there for it We also LOVE the fried green tomato sandwiches back at the QS there, so even if we're not on Splash we're back there. Oh and if it's open, I love participating in the Canoe ride. :) We're back there a lot. :)

I especially love to ride it at DL when it is, in fact, my birthday, so I feel that the ride is just for me.

We have to ride Pooh at least once because it's cute and we all love Winnie The Pooh. I got a super cute Eeyore plush from the gift shop too :)

We ride it at night when the wait time doesn't go above 10 minutes though, I wouldn't wait 30 mins in the heat of the day to do it.

:thumbsup2 to Hungry Bear and the Canoes. I've been known to walk back that way to pick up a Tigger Tail for all to try.

I'll be off to MK in April and then to DL in May for the 5K during Tink weekend. Maybe riding both WtPs within a short timeframe will help me to observe the differences rather than just looking for hidden Mickeys.

Is the FP queue at MK as cute as the Standby line?

I don't think so. As you would expect, the FP queue bypasses all the interactive elements.
