I'm not panicking YET, but...

...I AM kinda worried now.

I just called CRO to make a change to my reservation and I asked the CM about any possible news on codes for late May/early June.

She said that the rumor was that because of the May celebration (??) and increased summer reservations, there may be no codes until September!

She did say that there may be some sort of package discount for Disney Visa holders. But I received my "rewards" statement thing yesterday and the package they were offering wasn't discounted.

I know that every CM you talk to will have a different answer, so I'm hoping that the one I was talking to was just sick of people asking about codes and amusing herself by giving me a heart attack.

Has anyone else heard anything remotely close to this?!? Please say no!

:scared1:  :crazy2:

I saw a post somewhere the other day that there may not be any May codes because of the celebration, and it makes sense. I was trying to get price ideas for a May 2006 trip and had to enter several different dates and resorts before I could get a quote using May 2005 dates (it wouldn't let me use 2006 dates at that time). If it's that booked, there may not be any codes.

I made ressies for the beginning of July... and NO CODES or discounts were available. I made them anyway, :confused3 and will pay with/without codes, etc. BUT...with AP's, ent. book, AAA....Disney Visa...etc., I'm still HOPING something will come up for us!! :goodvibes I think it is supply/demand...and if they can sell the rooms without any discounts, then none/few will be offered.

I'm trying to be an optimist. If they are sending out all of these postcard and email codes for my time frame, why wouldn't AP and FL rates come out eventually, too?

Everybody don't panic....keep this in perspective. The last few celebrations WDW had were Walt's 100th Birthday and 25 years of WDW. During both celebrations AP Rates were offered. I don't see any reason why AP codes won't be offered this time. If rooms are empty, trust me, Disney will hand out codes. If the resorts are overbooked, then, that may be a problem. But i just don't see it. WDW has so many resort hotel rooms that there just has to be some empty.

Again, for a little persepective, when I search my vacation dates in May, every Deluxe resort has space available, on many different views and locations. We are going the 7th-14th of May and there are rooms still available at all the deluxes. Let's hope codes come out so Disney can fill those rooms.

I was about to post the same thing. :flower:

I agree with cdpa4d in regards of there being codes this May, and there were codes available for the past celebrations. Think about it like this. Disney knows that AP discount rates are good for business, because you give a family of 4 a discount room, and they are more likely to stay an extra day, spend more in one of the parks, or one of the many extras they offer around the Disney World. I never had a problem getting a AP discount rate during either the 100 years of magic, or Disney's 25th celebration. I will say that Disney never has a set schedule for when they release the Discounts, they just do. So think of happy thoughts and just keep the faith. Last year, I was going the last week in April and the codes did not come out to mid to late march, now that was cutting it close.

Also one more thing, Yes Disney is having there 50th Celebration, but its not like its a whole new park or something so extreme, that they would not want to entice their Loyal Pass holders to come and stay in their hotels and enjoy their new Celebration.

In your WDW experience:

What is more likely to be offered during busy times of the year: general public discount codes or AP codes? Are one code type (general public or AP) offered while the other is sometimes not??

There was still plenty of hotel space left for the first week of May when I checked yesterday. If you go to Expedia, you can see that the only thing pretty much unavailable then are the concierge rooms in the deluxes, and even then it's generally Wednesday and Thursday. I think we'll see codes, but probably not until March. I'm hoping earlier though!!!!!

Hey, I don't want WDW to be TOO busy when I get there, even if it means no codes!

But even thought it isn't good for those of us who want deals, it is good that they are getting the business and the economy is rebounding.

Curiosity got the best of me and I called back and asked a different CM, who said she had no idea when or if codes would be released, but she had heard nothing about "no new codes until September."

Maybe I just got a sadistic CM the first call...

Or maybe the first CM was more knowledgable than the second...

Or maybe the first CM was part of a vast Eisner conspiracy trying to "deprogram" us from expecting codes...

It's rediculous how obsessed I am with this.

:badpc:

I had to change my reservation departure date yesterday and I asked about resort codes and the CM said, "call back, they will happen."

We went in June last year and the discount codes for the end of April through July came out on March 9th, so you still have another month to wait. Don't panic, yet!

Good Morning to all my fellow DIS family.

First off, glad to hear that Ariel Wanna-be heard that from a CM that they had not heard anything about there being NO codes. I am sure there will be codes, though not sure of the precentage of savings. But, look at it like this if they are offering a code now through their peak season/spring break it makes no sense why there would be no code in May. Just remember what Peter Pan said to the Darling Children, "All you need to do to fly is think of Happy Thoughts." Now we all just keep that in mind and when Disney presents the codes (our Pixie Dust) we will all be flying to the Most Magical Place in the World.

It's not time to panic yet. ;) There is still time for codes to come out. However, the dates of our trip (first week of May) seem to be filling up really fast so I'm thinking codes might start May 9. :confused3 I think they are holding a lot of rooms for the media during that first week, and also there are probably lots of people who just want to pop in and try the new attractions. Also, as I've always thought, when people book up all the rooms at rack rate just hoping to apply a discount later then WDW doesn't think it needs to release any discounts for rooms that are already booked. I'd love us all to try and experiment one year and have none of us book anything until the codes come out. I bet they'd be sooner!!! ;)
