so, i've decided not to waste my time voting, seems like the swing states are the only ones that matter if you watch the news, all the other states are pretty much decided ...

Please don't say that.

My brother and sister are not able to vote. If you have the oppurtunity do it!

This election every vote is really going to count. I live in New Jersey and have seen a gazillion Mccain Palin signs which frankly worries me alot. We are a democratic state but I don't know this time around. Don't be discouraged.:flower3:

No not joking - if you watch the news there are only 7-8 states that the candidates are worried about - if not in one of those states why bother ???

Are there no local elections in your town/county/state? How about your senator or House rep? Any issues on the ballot in your state that could affect how you live?

You are in Missouri according to your location on the DIS. That is a very tight race in your state and your vote will count this election. Are you serious? :confused3

What? You are in Chesterfield MO...duh. :confused3 We are very much swinging.

I hear your frustration. I'm in a "taken for granted" state too. But even those have been known to go in an unexpected direction in the past, and every vote counts. As another poster mentioned last week, it is still worth your time to vote the losing side (in your state), just to have the voice of dissent be heard.

a quick google search shows that most of your city council is up for re-election.

The OP is delusional. Mo has a chance of going BLUE.

You're in MO, your vote most definitely counts. Although the state my mom lives in has not voted blue since the 1960s, she still goes out and votes every four years. She's a dem, and doesn't mind it being a waste of time (not to mention the winner is always announced way before their polling stations have even closed!)

Hmmm, Missouri has 9 House seats in this election, and the governor's office is up for election as well.

CQuill, I think you need to get some research done, and get out an vote tomorrow.

Nobody know which states will go which way. They are only being guided by polls and both sides have stated that polls are incredibly unreliable!! You need to vote. Doesn't matter what side your on you should definately vote.

I find it sad that anyone could feel that voting is a "waste of time". Thats more than a shame.

Honestly, I would be happy to vote if it were available online and could be done in a few seconds, minutes. I just don't feel like an hour or two of time wasted is worth it in this day & age.

I would think with today's technology that internet voting would certainly be an option, just my opinion ...

That would be great, if it could be done that way, but I think they could see more fraudelent votes if done that way.

I know at least in my town, we do have the electronic machines, still a bit outdated IMO.

Do you really think you'll be waiting an hour to vote?

What is a shame, is that the winner is always announced before the polling stations in the state of AK and HI have even closed. That's a shame.

It's natural those people would feel their voting is a waste of time. I remember feeling that way, growing up. Asking, "Why is it they already announced the winner when we haven't even voted yet?" It gives the message that your vote doesn't count. It's realistic.
