Sorry I didn't answer sooner - we spent the past 4 days down in Cali for my nephew-in-law's HS grad and my bro-in-law's b-day ...just got back in last night and I'm exausted!
Yes, the Kermit car is cool!
Cute pic of Bean on the tractor.
Pumpkin Girl's a flutist, huh? So, how long does she have to wait until she gets to do the parade in WDW?
Yeah, it was amazing how much having Kermit hanging out the window added to that car

Thank you on the Bean pic. It was funny because I took quite a few pics of her but her hand was getting tired from waving the flag so she was frowning in most of them
Yes, Pumpkin Girl has been playing flute for 3 years now and is getting pretty good. Ohhh, I'm sure she'd LOVE the opportunity to play a parade at WDW
Cool parade pics! My sister played flute in marching band all through high school, too! I was always disappointed that they didn't have marching orchestra, lol - I played viola.
But, we got to be in a (smaller) parade on Memorial Day, too. All the local Scouts marched, and they let the families march with the Cub Scouts, so I was glad I'd worn navy blue so as not to clash, lol. The parade was fun, but the kids got restless during the 30 minutes of speeches afterwards!
She did aye? Did she have fun with it or was it a lot of work? DD11 is hesitant about joining the marching band when she gets to HS because they are VERY compeditive and practice a lot. They start having practices before summer is even over. But they are very good and win competitions and get to travel quite a bit, so we'll see.
Hehehe, yes - marching with a viola would be a bit troublesome. But you got to do your performances indoors and sitting, which I consider a big bonus
We had quite the contingent of Boy Scouts at ours too! I'm glad you were able to get out there and march with your DS

Speeches do tent to make the little ones a bit squirmy. We don't have speeches after ours - we have a carnival set up at the city park put on by Davis shows and jetboat races on the river - whoohoo!
Thanks!

Did you manage to get any video of all the interaction? I really gotta remember to bring my video camera this year. I wanna be able to show my kids (whenever I have some) what their parents were like before they were around
Haha Thanks but I'm not so confident about that.

Maybe if I had someone going up tandum with me...is there a weight limit as to how many can go up at once?
ooooo having it be romantic for you and your DW sounds great!! Better than a carriage ride for sure. Hope you guys get to do it on your next trip. I'm anxious to see if you guys are already planning your next trip
awww shucks, thanks!
No, it was a bit misty with rain that day so I didn't do anything with the video camera, but it would have been a great moment to capture, that's for sure!
We didn't get a video camera UNTIL we had kids and most of the footage is of them - go figure, aye?

But yes, you should get some footage of you two having fun and doing the Dis!
As far as going tandem, you need a minimum of 125lbs and a total combined weight of no more than 330lbs. I think it would be a great thing for you two to do as a couple
We did the carriage ride thing as part of our 11th anniversary (I have a thing for planning our big events on off years). I flew DW and I to SLC to take her to the broadway production of Phantom of the Opera (her favorite musical). We stayed at a really nice hotel, got a couples massage, and saw the sites.
For the evening of the show she wore an old-style formal dress and I wore an old fashioned tux (one with the long jacket). We took a cab to this fantastic steak house and had a great meal, then I had a carriage take us from there to the front of the theater, so she got to make a grand entrance!
We had seats 2nd row on the isle and I even enjoyed the show - lol. It was a great time and it ALWAYS gets me in trouble with my friends when DW starts talking to their wives about it. They get the "how come YOU never do that kind of stuff for ME????" thing
We're actually taking the DDs to see it in Sacremento the week after next so we'll see how they like it

Sorry, got off on a bit of a tangent there didn't I?
Well I already want to plan the next trip and I think it will just be a matter of setting the date and have my wife sigh and start trying to get the money saved for it - hehehe. I want to do either the not so scary halloween timeframe or between Thanksgiving and Christmas to see all the decorations. But then again I want us to be able to do a PPP while we're there so we'll just have to see how it comes together.
You're very welcome!
Love the parade pictures. The kermit car is definitely cool!
That is so cool that Bean and Pumpkin Girl both got to be in the parade. And even more cool that the middle school does marching band! I didn't get to be in marching band till I was in High School. My sister played the flute too. Is this Pumpkin Girl's first year in band? How does she like it? Hope she sticks with it so she can do the parade through MK one year
Yay Kermit! Yes, I was very happy to hear they were both doing it. There has been years where it was just DD11 and Bean got a little jealous

The marching band thing was very impromptu. They had been practicing the music for months but didn't even START practicing marching until the week before the parade

They pulled it off very well though and DD11 was VERY excited that she got to be in the front row.
As I said to Nikki, she's just finished her 3rd year playing (we have a pretty decent music program and you can start on an instrument in 4th grade). She likes it but there were problems with their band teacher being let go (big story full of drama). But the upside is that her school is getting the band teacher from the other middle school. He is very dynamic and although he makes them work hard, he still keeps it fun!
We'll see if she continues into HS, she has 2 more years of middle school to go. I think when push comes to shove she'll go for marching band. Their program is very intense as I wall telling Irene, but they have won a whole grocery list of awards at state, regional, and national competitions.
And yes, to march at Disney would be a dream come true for her ...well, and me too
Great parade pics! I

Kermie!!!
Your daughters look stoked to be in the parade!
Thankyee Cheri! Kermit is a cool little amphibian and yes, the girls were very excited to be there :-]
I wish there were old time small town parades around here....
Those pix are great. Thanks for sharing.....
Hey Jordan! Sorry to hear that there aren't any there. I've done the big city thing (Phoenix, Denver, Atlanta) and they have their perks, but here my family's quality of life is pretty high. We have four seasons, there's lots of outdoor stuff to do, and because of their activities both of my girls have been pictured in the local newspaper (DD11 on multiple occastions).
You're very welcome and thanks for stopping by
