"I'm NOT a Princess, I'm Izzy!" - May '15 Land/Sea ~ Updated 6/4: Link to Disneyland TR!!!

I don't envy your MCO clothing-changing experience! Two year olds certainly know what they do and don't want. Rory thinks that every time he puts on his baseball hat that he needs his sunglasses as well, and won't leave them behind even if it's dark or raining.

We had the same thing happen to us with getting the room-ready text on board the ME - perfect timing!

I'm seriously impressed with Izzy knowing which room was yours!

I can never get enough Boardwalk pictures. I just love that walk over to Epcot from the BW.

Yay for a surprise Ariel meet!

We have never gone down on the Boardwalk..it always looks so pretty. If I could just get the kids out of the parks sometime, we will have to go check it out!

MCO = My Child’s Ornery
Ha!

At this point, there was nothing left to do but have both of us forcibly dress her. And it definitely took two of us with all the kicking and flailing involved. And the whole time, the screaming is so intense that I’m just praying this is a really soundproof restroom or else we’ll come out to find a crowd and the authorities gathered around, wondering what was happening in there :magnify: (thankfully, it must have been fairly soundproof, since nobody was waiting for us).

You know, sometimes you just have to get it done! Good work, Mommy and Daddy! I'd have been outside the bathroom clapping! :cheer2:

Since we’d done online check-in, we’d been sent our room number and were able to go directly to our room. We set off to find it, with Izzy’s help. When we got up to floor 4, I told Izzy to find room number 4060 for me and SHE DID. Literally ran down the hall, went to the correct door, and stood there pointing. I have NO idea how she did it, but it was pretty awesome:

http://s1188.photobucket.com/user/L...d and Sea Day 1/IMG_4305_zpsvuc7dwhi.jpg.html

Amazing! She's a genius, just like my daughter. :thumbsup2 It really is astounding how quickly they figure things out!

And it turned out that our balcony view was pretty awesome too:

I like how we can’t quite see the creepy clown, due to the tree. :clown: Perfect!
Looks heavenly... especially sans clown! That slide is TERRIFYING!! :scared1:

There was a pack ‘n’ play in that closet too, which we used.

We just had our very first "flying with the Pack and Play" experience. Honestly, the pack and play wasn't that bad... except having to lug it up and down the stairs of the hotels we stayed at. But since we had tons of small bags and strollers ANYWAY, and almost always needed a rolling cart, it didn't matter. However, for our Christmas trip we're staying at three different places... resort, ship, then on the beach on the gulfside. Thats a lot of pack and play lugging, but we'll need it for the end of the trip regardless.

The hardest thing to lug around was her carseat! It's SO heavy (its a Clek foonf... I just looked it up. 33LBS!) !! I bought a little cart to get it to and from the gate. I'm considering buying a lighter weight seat for travel because it was pretty brutal. We're thinking of flying back separately, and there is no way I could lug it myself along with the kiddo.

How WAS the in-room pack and play? When we were down last year, I took a look at the PNP in the closet, and it looked filthy. Like... crusty on top. Kind of grossed me out!

I really liked the little nook just inside the door. It was big enough to park the stroller and store a couple empty suitcases, plus there was a shelf for tossing things on when you come in (you can also see how we rig up the carseat to the stroller when needed):

http://s1188.photobucket.com/user/L...d and Sea Day 1/IMG_4307_zpsq5gkio7q.jpg.html

Oooo! Nooks are so helpful!

As we were exploring, I went out and sat on the balcony for a moment and Izzy followed me. Before I could really even comprehend what was going on, she had climbed up on the little patio table (so that she could see the view over the balcony wall) and immediately toppled it. Thankfully, I reacted quickly enough to catch her and she walked away without a scratch, but it scared us both. :scared: The table went right to the back of the balcony after that. ::yes:: It was kind-of a bummer that the balcony had a solid wall versus rails. The view was great, but you could only see it if you were standing (and taller than Izzy). We didn’t have much time to spend on the balcony anyway, though, so it wasn’t a big deal for us.

Yikes! Was it high enough that she could have gone over the balcony?! I can't remember if there was a table on the cruise, but that's definitely something to remember! So many things that you don't really think about until they test it out!

We headed for the Boardwalk:

http://s1188.photobucket.com/user/L...F-4F63-B8FF-BA1EB3CC5F8C_zpssgdujw0o.jpg.html

Yes! One of my most favorite places!!

I remember this part of the trip being really pleasant. :cloud9: Just strolling along the Boardwalk, Izzy riding in her stroller (spoiler alert: that doesn’t happen often this trip :rolleyes1), just enjoying the fact that we made it there and were headed to Epcot.

I always like to savor that beginning-of-trip feeling when you know all the fun is ahead of you. We finally made it out of that toddler tantrum fog and were just feeling good. :)

I always love the first day of the trip, even though traveling is so annoying. But one of my most favorite moments is when I get my rental car at the airport (because we almost always go this route... we like the freedom of it, especially the freedom to hit the liquor store!) and pull out of the airport. It just feels like EVERYTHING is before us, the anticipation of the room, the whole vacay. Love it!

This bird kind of looks like its smashed on the boardwalk! :rotfl2:

Yay, the International Gateway:

http://s1188.photobucket.com/user/L...0-4DF7-AB6A-80AA990341B2_zpsokisjrek.jpg.html

:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

Just how you dream the meet will go :rotfl2::

You see, there was one member of our party that wanted to wear sweatpants and a long-sleeved shirt and jacket in 90 degree weather. REALLY wanted to. :headache: Basically, putting shorts on her would be akin to putting a straightjacket on her. :scared: She was willing to put everything she had into the battle against the shorts. And she did. :sad2:
Ahh toddlers! :rotfl:

But it’s amazing how evasively a toddler can manage to maneuver when they don’t want you to put clothes on them or hold them, etc. :teleport: They also become ridiculously strong, causing you to fear they will forcefully throw themselves headfirst onto the hard floor and sustain injuries.
::yes::

So, that went on for a while until we decided to lead by example and VERY excitedly put on our shorts and t-shirts. Surely that would help, right? ::yes:: Nope. Still wailing. :worried:
:faint: Yeah THat's when I would have given up.

When we got up to the desk, the CM gave Izzy a Mickey and an Olaf sticker, which cheered her up some
Nothing like a few stickers to bring the happiness back in a child.

I told Izzy to find room number 4060 for me and SHE DID. Literally ran down the hall, went to the correct door, and stood there pointing. I have NO idea how she did it, but it was pretty awesome
Gotta love when they surprise you this way. They are always such bittersweet moments.

I like how we can’t quite see the creepy clown, due to the tree. :clown: Perfect!
::yes:: avoiding a view of the creepy clown is always good. :thumbsup2

Before I could really even comprehend what was going on, she had climbed up on the little patio table (so that she could see the view over the balcony wall) and immediately toppled it.
:eek::scared1:

I enjoy hot dogs, but someone else must be enjoying them a lot more to bring the average up to that! :faint:)
Same here! :faint:

Yes, it was a total surprise Ariel meet and greet, up near the bridge to France. :woohoo:
Yay for bonus meet and greets!

Wow what a start! When Charlotte was about 2 she didn't want to ditch the winter wear when warmer weather started. I literally had to hide her coats, sweaters etc around the house. Just the other day I found her coat stuffed in my hope chest in the basement!:rotfl2:

The boardwalk looks awesome! A long time ago, i tagged along with Bob when he went to an AP conference in the Swan. During the day I hung out alone while he went to the condense. Every morning I walked around the boardwalk got breakfast at the bakery. It was lovely and relaxing! The boardwalk area was my first exposure to the deluxe resorts and I was so impressed!

Awesome view! I love it! I stayed in a similar location but I could definitely see the clown pool. :rotfl:

How the heck did Izzy know the right room number? That was pretty cool.

When I stayed there in Feb I actually had a refurbed room which looked very different from the traditional room. My view turned out to be of the ToT.

Boo to the seriously hot corn dog. Glad you were able to get it cooled off for Izzy.

Yay for an Ariel meet soon after entering Epcot, although I am not completely sure Izzy was really into it! :rotfl2:

All caught up!!! Can't wait to read more!! Gotta live the "tg teenager stage," in smack dab in the middle of that mess myself!

Looking forward to the rest of your review. DS, DDIL, and DGD will be joining us in Sept. and DGD will be 2.

Nice room. I liked how there's a big open space in the middle, in front of the couch and next to the bed. I'm sure it's for the sleeper sofa, but to me it looks like the perfect place for a toddler "play area." And that nook does look like the perfect stroller parking spot. The things we notice as moms now...

80 hot dogs a year? Holy moly! Don't get me wrong, I admit I'll eat one whenever we have cookouts, but 80? Someone's got a serious hot dog addiction. (And completely random, but Landon stopped eating hot dogs a few months ago. What kid doesn't eat a hot dog?! I'm not sure what he's gonna eat at Disney in a few weeks.)

Fun Ariel meet and greet. Apparently, if there is a character by the International Gateway, they are in training. A CM friend hanging with us in the parks one time told us that that area is where the characters take their test runs before going to their traditional spots in the parks. Only benefits us, I think.

As always, I love your trip reports. I'm particularly interested in this one, to see what I may have in my future, as I have a feeling that my DS may react similarly when we bring him in October (he'll be a couple of weeks shy of 3).

I thought of you the other day. We went down the shore and before we left I went to change DS in this little changing stall, basically just wooden walls, and he threw a similar fit to the one you encountered in MCO. Except there was no wiggle room (pun intended) and I was alone (DH was 'busy' rinsing his feet...). I think half the beach and most of the boardwalk heard me yelling at him. Oh, and there was the added bonus of sand everywhere.

Aw! Silly Izzy wanting to wear her winter clothes! It was HOT the whole time we were there and I'm sure that your arrival day was no different! Glad that you finally got her to change because she would have been miserable otherwise! That's why mommies and daddies get to make the rules! :thumbsup2

It was amazing that Izzy found your room like that! She's one smart little lady! :cheer2:

It is great to see your pics of the Boardwalk! The Poly was sold out when we booked our bounce back for the dates we wanted but they had one of the Garden rooms at the Boardwalk available. I'm going to keep checking once the AP rates come out because I'd love to go back to the Poly but the Boardwalk area does seem to have some major perks! We spend a lot of time in Epcot so it would probably work for us.

It seems like there is a lot open late there. Is that true? We thought about checking it out a few times on our trip but never made it over.

That's so crazy about the hot dog place not taking Disney money! I found myself carrying less payment options each time we left the resort on this trip. Magic bands work so well and make it so easy! Hopefully they'll upgrade in the future!

Yay for Ariel! She's my favorite!!! The pics are adorable even though she was feeling a little shy. :)

There was a random Dopey meeting in front of the Magic Kingdom one night on our way in. We got in line and they cut it off right after us. But then a really nice family with kids came over and we gave them our spot. He is one of my favorites but the little boy was so excited to meet him and he was so sad when the CM told him the line was full!

I love the more random meets that happen. My favorite from SWW were the roaming characters! It is just so much more spontaneous! Though - I do see the benefits of lines inside with AC! ::yes::

Can't wait to read more!

According to Kenny the Pirate, it's used for training new "friends", so it's kind of random.
Good to know. :thumbsup2

Since you mentioned "lap baby"...Camryn actually fell asleep about 30 minutes before landing, pretty much about the time I felt us start to decent, on my lap, in my arms, of course. And they MADE me put her in her "seat" and buckle her. I told the guy "she's asleep" and he said it didn't matter. She was 2 years and 2 months, 60 days over being a lap baby. I assume it's a safety thing, and I get that, and I know they have to draw the line somewhere...yada, yada, yada. But they certainly don't make it easy on the little ones! Even Lauren just said she asked for some help down the tarmac and girl had a definitive NO! First world problems, I guess! lol!
Definitely not easy to travel by air with a little one! I could be wrong, but I think even under 2 are supposed to face forward during landing or something. But I've never had it enforced on me. I know that I wore sleeping Izzy in the Ergo (facing me) on at least one flight, maybe more.

Ohhhh the shorts. Poor Izzy and poor you guys! I would have been nervous too about people outside the door - eeep! Walking out saying, it was the shorts...and the shirt...and the socks...errr - other parents would totally get it, though.
Yep, other parents would get it, I suppose. But it just sounded SO awful.

Love the Ariel M&G. Izzy's all ehhh not so sure about you lady and you don't seem to know Nemo...so no high five for you! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2: She has much better meets with Ariel later in the trip! :thumbsup2 This was a good warm-up, though.

Yes.

Yes they do.

Oh, Gawd.
Yes they do.
:scared:

 Not when they were that age.
And they'd shoot me if I posted a pic of them in meltdown mode as teenagers.
:rotfl2:

Nah. I don't believe it.
:rotfl:

Yes, I could use a previous trip's Magic Band... but you're right. I still wouldn't know the room number.
Plus, I have to pick up the new MB in the lobby too since they don't mail them outside the US.
Guess you're stuck with the old routine.

Now off to read your update!
:goodvibes

Glad she was ok!! That is too bad about the solid wall. I think Aria was able to see, I'll have to look back through pictures but don't remember a solid wall. It's interesting your room was different than mine, was it refurbed? It doesn't look new but has the daybed which mine didn't. We also had a (different) set up by the door but it had lots of space for the stroller as well which was nice.
On our post-cruise BWV stay, we had a different room and that had a much different balcony. Giant one that she could definitely see off of:

I'm not sure if it was refurbed or not. Both rooms seemed similar inside. And I have no past experience to compare them to. We really liked both rooms, though (and the second one was also close to the lobby - 3061!)

Of course!! Between that and Duffy and the old Mickey shows we were golden.
I really loved that the cruise had even more...Disney Junior ON DEMAND! :jumping1:

At least she wanted to use that, sorry she never cared for her travel potty!
Eh, worked out okay - didn't have to bring anything special to the bathroom with us, so that was nice. :thumbsup2

Ahh that is the best feeling!
:cloud9:

Funny, we stopped here too. The guy actually forgot our order despite us sitting right there.
Oh no! At least we were the only customers there the whole time, so it was hard to forget us. :rotfl:

That is disgusting. While I don't eat hot dogs (which may contribute to Andrew & Aria's lower numbers), they probably have 3 per year on average each. 80?!
We are somewhere between your 3 and 80...but closer to your end. And they are usually Trader Joe's turkey corndogs, if that counts. :confused3

That is so neat!
It was a nice surprise way to start our time in the parks! :thumbsup2

WOW that is crazy! I rarely take videos though did a few this past may. I need to find out how to upload them so I can embed them like you do. Photobucket doesn't work at work.
Are you able to see the pictures I post, but just not the videos (since they are links vs. imbedded)? I know I've seen other TRs where they have their videos on youtube and embedded right into their TR. Would that be blocked for you too? Or maybe just insert the videos when you get home? Or copy the links at home in advance and then just put them into your update when you write it? :scratchin

Oh, just to be clear, I was thinking of the episode where Kramer spills coffee on himself and then hires Jackie Chiles (who is a parody of attorney Johnnie Cochran) to sue for it being too hot (making fun of when that person sued McDonald's for the coffee being too hot).

And they argue, but coffee is supposed to be hot, and he counters with "not that hot" ... so made me think that while, yes, your corn dog should be hot, seems like it was way hotter than it needed to be nor expected it would b
Oh, okay, that makes sense. Sounds familiar now that you say that. It's been a long time since I've watched Seinfeld, but I did watch it! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tour! Looks nice.
It was!

We loved those. Portable, bed, play area and jail all rolled into one!

:rolleyes1

(JK on the jail part. Maybe...)
Multi-purpose for sure! I'm glad she still likes to sleep in them (she's right around the weight "limits"). But if she's happy...:thumbsup2

 HOLY COW!
Thank goodness for super mom reflexes!!
You just about gave me a heart attack!
(And I'm guessing you weren't too far from one either!)
Yeah, my heart was pounding! And I even have thought about this scenario before - thinking ahead to the cruise, I was reminding myself to not let her climb up on the balcony table and go overboard - but it happened so fast at BWV and I wasn't prepared for that, I guess.

I hear you.
I was at my room so little, last trip.
Yep, we often have good intentions of enjoying our balconies, but it seldom actually happens.

 Love that shot! Lu already posted the gif that I was thinking of.
Well, actually, I was thinking of the actual bank with the hand that came out... but close enough.
:rotfl:

Smart girl.
:thumbsup2 Training her right!

I'm telling you. They get older all of a sudden.
Next thing you know, she'll be asking for the keys to the car.

Don't give them to her.
Toddlers shouldn't drive.
Yeah, I learned that one already (not her driving, but giving her the keys). Way back when (she was still pretty little), she wanted her toy keys in the car when I picked her up from daycare. They were on the other side of the backseat, so I handed her my real keys to play with while I ran around to get her toy ones. In the approximately 1.5 seconds it took me to close her door, run around the car, and open the other door, she'd pressed the lock button and locked me out/her in. :scared1: Well, she was too young to understand my direction on pressing the unlock button, so the police ended up coming to open the car up for me. I'll never do that again. :faint: Kids get into trouble so fast!

He does look a little bit happy, doesn't he!
:goodvibes

Nice. Can it get much more convenient than that???
Not really!

Looks like Dug isn't the only one who's happy! :goodvibes
This was a pretty happy time!

::yes:: Best feeling ever. You've got an eternity of fun and happy times stretching out in front of you.
Yep, love that! :cloud9:

:goodvibes

Mmmmm.... I think I could live off that menu.
I might die an early death from clogged arteries... but it'd be worth it.
:rotfl2: It does have some pretty yummy sounding options.

Actually... that doesn't surprise me.
I ate very few hot dogs when I was younger, but DW loves them.
I thought we ate a lot because we have them, oh... well... I guess it varies.
Some months we'll have it twice, other months not at all.
So I guess when you average it out, we have probably less than or close to one a month.
So that's twelve/year.
But if you do it once a week... that's 52/year.
But... if you have two hotdogs at a sitting, and a lot of people do, then you're over 100 for the year.

I'd be so sick of them by then, but to each his or her own, I suppose.
Thanks for that math! :teacher: Good point about two in a sitting. Man, that's still a LOT of hot dogs, though - especially as an AVERAGE. :faint:

I'd heard that there were some places that didn't take Magic Bands... but until now I'd never heard anyone mention anyplace that didn't.
I didn't know there were any places, so this was a real surprise!

I'll wait for a fresh one. I never have. Everytime I've eaten a corn dog, they've always been ready to go.
Which isn't always a good thing.
True.

Whoops! Downside to fresh, I suppose.
Indeed.

 Never would've thought of that.
Well, one hand had an icy cold item and one had a burning hot item, so it seemed like a good idea. Of course, I think it just ended up warming the water. :rotfl:

That's the first picture I've seen of it!
Really?

And yet... she doesn't seem too excited once she's there. :confused3
I think the tiredness and just the unexpectedness of this meet had her off her game.

Cute pic! :thumbsup2
Thanks, that was my favorite one!

:rotfl2:

I didn't know you could do that.
I guess it makes sense, but... :confused3
I love it! Especially when I'm on my own and can't have Dug take pics while I take video.

Yeah, I didn't realize we'd gone that crazy until we got home. :faint:

That was funny.
"Who's this strange lady who keeps grabbing at me???"
Yeah, she wasn't sure what to make of this Ariel, I think.

Yes! Yes it will! I loved the cronut there!
:rolleyes1

Can't wait! :goodvibes
:hyper:

That hand looks suspiciously like a female adult hand. :rolleyes1
I guess Izzy has big hands, as this is the next picture I have from that:

Is that a vacuum cleaner in the closet??
Yep, not that we used it. But makes sense in a DVC room, as there is not frequent housekeeping when you stay on points.

Oh wow! Scary! I'm glad you caught her, and moving the table away from the wall was definitely a good idea.
It was super scary! :scared:

You're raising her well. :thumbsup2
Thanks, we try! :goodvibes

:sad2: They never want to ride in the stroller. Especially when it makes the most sense to ride in the stroller.
::yes::

Ok, I kind of had the same reaction you had. I thought that was pretty excessive.

But then I figured that 80 hot dogs per year is just over 1.5 per week. I'm a big guy. 1 hot dog doesn't cut it. So if I have 1 hot dog, I'm probably going to have 2. Factor in the occasional chili dog and corn dogs. It might not be such a stretch.
Well, when you put it that way...

That just doesn't even make sense. They want everything to be so seamless, but they haven't even gotten the Boardwalk vendors in the system yet?
:confused3

I get the fact that they have to cook everything hot enough to meet health codes, but that really is irritating. I'd almost rather get food that was cooked 20 minutes ago and left under a warmer for the kids. They just don't get the concept of having to wait on their food to cool, and it is our fault, as parents, that their food is too hot for them to eat and they have to wait!
Yep. And I was hoping to get her napping in the stroller as soon as possible, but this delayed it and, well, you'll see how that all goes... :sad2:

Not a bad way to start things off! I'm glad the meet went ok, even if she wasn't super eager about it. At least she tolerated Ariel and got one meet under her belt to break the ice.
:thumbsup2

Wow! You guys do a much better job of documenting things than we do. :rolleyes1
:rotfl: Well, so far we haven't thrown our phones off Space Mountain (or the queue), so... :rotfl2:

:scared: That would have frightened me
It definitely frightened me!

:rotfl2::rotfl: This cracks me up! She got in there quite fast!
She can be pretty speedy!

Yes! Teaching her the correct stations to watch while at WDW
That's right! :thumbsup2

Looks like a gorgeous day!
It was really nice. Hot, but nice.

Love that feeling
Me too!

We are not big hot dog eaters. I maybe BBQ a package once a Summer and we will sometimes order them at Sonic Burger. So i'm probably eating less than 10 a year. I can't imagine eating 70 more in a year! :faint:
Exactly! That's just mind-boggling to me! :faint:

I want to know how many people were saying this out loud to themselves, cause I totally was :thumbsup2
:rotfl2: I read it in my head a few times before I got it.

:rotfl: Isn't funny when our food isn't hot enough, we complain and when it's too hot, we complain again! :lmao:But I totally get where you're coming from, especially when our little one's want it LIKE NOW!
Yep, she'd have preferred a not hot enough one for sure.

This is an adorable shot!
Thanks, I'm so glad Dug captured that one!

Was this all taken on your phones or did you use a separate camera as well?! Egads you guys have a ton of storage capacity!
Yep, all on our phones. I can't even tell you the technical details, but Dug made sure we'd be okay for storage.

:rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl: I think you should make an album in your iPhoto and call it 'Sneaky Izzy Hands'
Good idea! :rotfl:

I love this episode! "You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on?" :rotfl:
:rotfl2:

I don't envy your MCO clothing-changing experience! Two year olds certainly know what they do and don't want. Rory thinks that every time he puts on his baseball hat that he needs his sunglasses as well, and won't leave them behind even if it's dark or raining.
:rotfl2: Sounds about right. It's funny how they get SO set on things being a certain way. In general, but it REALLY comes out with clothes, it seems.

We had the same thing happen to us with getting the room-ready text on board the ME - perfect timing!
It was great timing, we were really happy about it! :thumbsup2

I'm seriously impressed with Izzy knowing which room was yours!
Me too! :faint: I still have no idea how she did it like that, first try and so confident.

I can never get enough Boardwalk pictures. I just love that walk over to Epcot from the BW.
I really liked staying there, especially because of that convenient walk (or boat ride) to two parks. :thumbsup2

Yay for a surprise Ariel meet!
That was a fun way to start our park time. pixiedust:

We have never gone down on the Boardwalk..it always looks so pretty. If I could just get the kids out of the parks sometime, we will have to go check it out!
We don't tend to spend extensive time there, but one sure could. It was nice to stay there and just walk through it a lot on the way to/from our room. If you want to check it out, I'd plan a park-hop between DHS and Epcot, so they are "forced" to visit the Boardwalk area.

Took some brainstorming to figure out the "O", but the others just came to me. :rotfl:

You know, sometimes you just have to get it done! Good work, Mommy and Daddy! I'd have been outside the bathroom clapping! :cheer2:
Haha, thanks. :goodvibes Though someone applauding outside the bathroom may have freaked me out too. :rotfl2:

Amazing! She's a genius, just like my daughter. :thumbsup2 It really is astounding how quickly they figure things out!
Smart kiddos we have! ::yes::

Looks heavenly... especially sans clown! That slide is TERRIFYING!! :scared1:
Couldn't have been a more perfect view with the blocked clown! :thumbsup2

We've never once travelled with our pack 'n' play (well, no air travel at least). It seems like nearly every hotel has free ones available. However, when we went to upstate New York for BIL's wedding last year, the bed-and-breakfast-type place we stayed at did not offer any pack 'n' plays or cribs. So, we bought a KidCo PeaPod (basically, a tiny tent) and it has been one of the very best baby/toddler items we've bought. We still use it often (naps when we go to grandparents' houses) and she loves it. It fits in the front zipper pocket of our suitcase when it's all folded up too. And it's like 2 pounds or something.

My goodness, your carseat weighs more than my kid! I have heard of those, though - good seats! We have Britax Marathons in both of our cars, but didn't want to lug them on trips. Partially due to weight (17 pounds, so much lighter than yours), but mostly because we didn't want to re-install them in our cars, since it took some effort to get perfect. So, we bought a seat specifically for travel (that also doubles as a back-up if a grandparent needs to give her a ride somewhere). I had heard many good things about the Cosco Scenera, but we ended up getting a really good deal on a similar one, the Evenflo Tribute. Only 9 pounds and relatively easy to travel with. It's been a well-spent $30 or so for us! :thumbsup2 And my understanding is that the cheap seats still meet the same safety/crash test requirements as the more expensive ones, but they are just not as "fancy". Ours is very basic, but it does the job just fine.

How WAS the in-room pack and play? When we were down last year, I took a look at the PNP in the closet, and it looked filthy. Like... crusty on top. Kind of grossed me out!
We've never had an issue with them. I do bring my own sheet, though. It's a quilted and fitted PnP sheet and I feel like it's a bit more cushy and comfortable (and familiar) than the sheets hotels provide. Plus, it's handy to wrap her white noise machine in when it's in the luggage. She's really only touching that sheet anyway (and we bring her little pillow and blankies too), so not too worried about yucky PnPs, I guess.

Oooo! Nooks are so helpful!
Yep, loved this!

Yikes! Was it high enough that she could have gone over the balcony?! I can't remember if there was a table on the cruise, but that's definitely something to remember! So many things that you don't really think about until they test it out!
I think she only could have gone over the balcony if she had climbed up/pulled herself up on the ledge. Which she is capable of. But she just fell from the table, which was lower. Still scary, though. And, yes, our cruise verandah had a table too. She didn't try to climb on that one at all. Guess she learned her lesson. ::yes::

Yes! One of my most favorite places!!
It was really nice staying there!

Love it!
Love that feeling! Even though you're excited for what's to come, you almost want time to stand still, just to savor that moment.

This bird kind of looks like its smashed on the boardwalk! :rotfl2:
I know, it looks funny. If it makes you feel better, though, this is the next picture I have:

::yes::

Hello! Excited to read your TR!
:welcome: Thanks for joining in!

Ahh toddlers! :rotfl:
A simple task is seldom easy with a toddler around.

It's so scary how they flail all around like that.

:faint: Yeah THat's when I would have given up.
I think we would have, but she'd have been in just her underwear at that point. Too bad we didn't have a hooded swim towel handy! ;)

Nothing like a few stickers to bring the happiness back in a child.
Indeed! ::yes::

Gotta love when they surprise you this way. They are always such bittersweet moments.
Definitely. It's blows my mind to think she'll be reading "soon", etc. I mean, it seems like she was just a tiny baby, but that changes so fast.

::yes:: avoiding a view of the creepy clown is always good. :thumbsup2
It was perfect!

 That was a frightening moment for sure.

Same here! :faint:
I bet people are eating a lot of hot dogs today (July 4th).

Yay for bonus meet and greets!
That was a fun surprise to start our park time!

Wow what a start! When Charlotte was about 2 she didn't want to ditch the winter wear when warmer weather started. I literally had to hide her coats, sweaters etc around the house. Just the other day I found her coat stuffed in my hope chest in the basement!:rotfl2:
:lmao: That's awesome! We had to hide her hat and mittens this spring. And her boots, though those have now come back out as "toys". Glad to know it's not just her that goes through this.

That sounds lovely, just walking around and hitting the bakery for breakfast every day. :cloud9:

Awesome view! I love it! I stayed in a similar location but I could definitely see the clown pool. :rotfl:
It was great. Bummer you had to see that creepy clown. :clown:

How the heck did Izzy know the right room number? That was pretty cool.
Still no clue how she did it. I don't think she knows her numbers that well yet, so I guess...intuition. :confused3

When I stayed there in Feb I actually had a refurbed room which looked very different from the traditional room. My view turned out to be of the ToT.
Well, ToT would be a pretty sweet view! :thumbsup2

Boo to the seriously hot corn dog. Glad you were able to get it cooled off for Izzy.
I couldn't believe how hot that thing stayed! Surprised it didn't burst into flames or something. I had to carry it, in it's container, with like 10 napkins under it to keep from burning my hand. :faint:

Yay for an Ariel meet soon after entering Epcot, although I am not completely sure Izzy was really into it! :rotfl2:
She totally was not into it vs. the meets you'll see the rest of the trip. It caught us all off guard, so she probably didn't feel prepared, on top of being tired.

All caught up!!! Can't wait to read more!! Gotta live the "tg teenager stage," in smack dab in the middle of that mess myself!
Those darn threenagers! :rotfl2: It certainly has it's challenges. ::yes::

joining in
:welcome: May I offer you some popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::? :goodvibes

Looking forward to the rest of your review. DS, DDIL, and DGD will be joining us in Sept. and DGD will be 2.
:welcome: Traveling with a 2-year-old is a whole new world. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, though. It's a great age for fun, as they are old enough to be excited about things and have some commentary. Obviously, there are challenges too, especially with trying to keep on any sort of schedule, but it's worth it. Hope you have a great time in September! :goodvibes

Nice room. I liked how there's a big open space in the middle, in front of the couch and next to the bed. I'm sure it's for the sleeper sofa, but to me it looks like the perfect place for a toddler "play area." And that nook does look like the perfect stroller parking spot. The things we notice as moms now...
We ended up putting the PnP in that open area. If there was any "play area", I'd say it was the bed. ::yes:: And I loved being able to park the stroller right by the door and out of our way. :thumbsup2

Izzy is a big hot dog fan, so we eat way more now than we used to, but still not even remotely close to 80 between all of us. But all this talk of hot dogs is making me crave them now...:rotfl2:

Fun Ariel meet and greet. Apparently, if there is a character by the International Gateway, they are in training. A CM friend hanging with us in the parks one time told us that that area is where the characters take their test runs before going to their traditional spots in the parks. Only benefits us, I think.
That's pretty cool. I think this Ariel did a great job, especially if Izzy may have been one of her first toddler encounters. :thumbsup2

As always, I love your trip reports. I'm particularly interested in this one, to see what I may have in my future, as I have a feeling that my DS may react similarly when we bring him in October (he'll be a couple of weeks shy of 3).
Thank you! :goodvibes Your DS is not far behind Izzy in age! I think the main thing to remember is that they are not predictable at this age, which makes it really hard to be ready for things they may throw at you. Looking back, the main thing I'd change is that I'd have a more relaxed schedule (though the idea of skipping things we'd like to do kills me) and we'd have dedicated in-room nap times most days. I hope your DS (and you) have a blast!

:scared1: Oh no! That makes me feel like I got off easy with the MCO family restroom! Sorry you had to deal with that! Ugh, and SAND too.

Aw! Silly Izzy wanting to wear her winter clothes! It was HOT the whole time we were there and I'm sure that your arrival day was no different! Glad that you finally got her to change because she would have been miserable otherwise! That's why mommies and daddies get to make the rules! :thumbsup2
Yep, she would have been a sweaty mess for sure, but that just didn't make sense to her. And now she is addicted to shorts. :rotfl:

It was amazing that Izzy found your room like that! She's one smart little lady! :cheer2:
Thanks! I'm still baffled by it. Guess she's got some good intuition or something. :confused3

If you're going to Epcot a lot (especially World Showcase), it's really convenient. Also DHS isn't bad. I really enjoyed the location and would go back again. Plus, you have the boardwalk itself, which can be a lot of fun.

It seems like there is a lot open late there. Is that true? We thought about checking it out a few times on our trip but never made it over.
There is a lot that is open late, but we didn't really check much out. I guess I went to the bakery pretty late once, but we didn't go to Jellyrolls or anything (but walked by and it looked fun).

That's so crazy about the hot dog place not taking Disney money! I found myself carrying less payment options each time we left the resort on this trip. Magic bands work so well and make it so easy! Hopefully they'll upgrade in the future!
I hope they'll be able to get on the system. Seems like they'd lose out on sales otherwise. I mean, I really rely on that Magic Band for everything while on property.

Yay for Ariel! She's my favorite!!! The pics are adorable even though she was feeling a little shy. :)
Thanks! She's Izzy's favorite too, which will be more obvious later in the trip. The pictures aren't bad, all things considered. Just glad we got a bonus meet in like that!

Aw, that's so sweet! I wonder if it was Dopey-in-training? :scratchin

I love the more random meets that happen. My favorite from SWW were the roaming characters! It is just so much more spontaneous! Though - I do see the benefits of lines inside with AC! ::yes::
They are fun! Heck, just the guests at SWW are entertaining to watch - so many costumes.

Can't wait to read more!
Thanks!

Yep, not that we used it. But makes sense in a DVC room, as there is not frequent housekeeping when you stay on points.
Interesting. I mean I knew that they don't clean the rooms more than maybe once a week. But I just didn't even consider the fact that there'd be a vacuum in the closet. I mean, if I'm on vacation, I can tolerate a little dirt on the floor. I'm not doing chores. :rotfl2:

Well, when you put it that way...
If there's one thing I'm good at, it is justifying eating more food than seems reasonable. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Well, so far we haven't thrown our phones off Space Mountain (or the queue), so... :rotfl2:
Got me there...

I agree, though I could see it potentially being handy if there were a big snack-food spill or something.

:thumbsup2 This is an important skill, especially at WDW. ::yes::

Got me there...
:lmao:

Yeah, my heart was pounding! And I even have thought about this scenario before - thinking ahead to the cruise, I was reminding myself to not let her climb up on the balcony table and go overboard - but it happened so fast at BWV and I wasn't prepared for that, I guess.

Nothing like living on pins and needles.
It gets easier though.
Not much... but some.

Wow. I've heard of that happening from time to time, but until now, didn't know anyone that it had happened to.
And so innocent too! Here, honey, play with this for a second. <click!>

Thanks for that math! :teacher: Good point about two in a sitting. Man, that's still a LOT of hot dogs, though - especially as an AVERAGE. :faint:

It is still a lot of hotdogs.
I wonder if they factor in the hot dog eating contests?
I think today I heard that the winner ate 65?
The runner up ate 60.
And the third place ate only a measly 35. Wimp!

I didn't know there were any places, so this was a real surprise!

Last time I'd heard about places not taking Magic Bands/Room keys was a long time ago.
I figured by now everyone took them.
Guess not.

Yep.

I guess Izzy has big hands, as this is the next picture I have from that:

 nom nom nom
