Hi! I've just ventured over to this board to get some inspiration to get my butt in shape for our disney wedding in January. So far, I've done pretty good. I have lost 36 pounds since January, but would like to lose another 40 before we leave for disney on December 29th. I started out in a tight 28 and am now in a comfy 22 or snug 20.

That will still leave me about 30 pounds heavier than my final goal (my start weight was 276, goal weight is 170). I plan on spending all of 2008 dedicated to getting that last 30 pounds off and keeping it off. It also doesn't help that I am almost 35 and have been carrying the weight since I was about 20. So, I think I need a full two years to lose the weight, learn new habits, and relearn how to take care of myself.

I have the most success by watching my calories and portion control. I have done low fat, low carb, low this, low that, and would always lose a few pounds and then stall out. I seem to be able to lose steady if I eat a decent breakfast (usually low fat plain yougurt and frozen blueberries), south beach diet wrap and large salad for lunch, and then just whatever everyone else is having for supper, just eat it on a salad plate.

I also use rice cakes for snacks. I love the caramel ones.

What I really need is ideas on eating out. For instance, this evening, I am meeting an old friend for Mexican, what is healthy at a mexican restaurant????

So, anyway, that's my story!

HI there . Why don't you join us on the Diet 4 A Disney Christmas thread. We are going in December too. I've been battling pregnancy weight gain for the past 4 years -- I lost on low carb 2 years ago - but gained it back plus more when I started adding carbs. I just joined Jillian Michaels yesterday -- thinking that if I pay for it, I'll have more incentive. I have ALOT of weight to lose -- my ultimate goal is to lose 80 pounds.

As far as Mexican -- hmm tricky -- but something with a chicken breast -- ask for no cheese.

:welcome: to WISH!! what a great motivator -- a disney wedding!

mexican -- i order a 'fajita taco' and don't eat the flour tortilla. so it's basically a small fajita portion of chicken meat and veggies grilled. what gets me is the chips and guacamole!

Tortilla soup if it is broth based would be "healthy" at a mexican restaurant. Or a salad with Salsa as the dressing.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. My friend had an emergency, so I stayed home and ate some veggies.

I will look into the december thread!

Welcome to WISH!

It seems that you have found your goal is in sight and are on track to reach it. Great job!

Good to have you here. Join any thread or start one too. We all depend on each other for help and encouragement.

I look forward to reading of your progress.
