If you can answer any or all of these, I'd be grateful...

1. I know you can get room discounts with an annual pass. The Universal site shows three types of passes: Premium, Preferred and Power. Would any of the three work, or do you have to buy the most expensive one?

2. I have AAA. I know you can get room discounts that way, too. I thought I had read that AAA gets you 10% off on some meals. Is that true whether or not you actually book your room with the AAA rate? In other words, can you just show your AAA card at the parks/resort restaurants and get 10% off?

3. Is there any way to not have to pay the $12/day parking fee? Does the annual pass cover that? Or AAA?

4. Does Universal have an 800 number?

Thank you!

Betty

Premium or Preferred for room discounts.

Some restaurants at CityWalk, Parks and On-site hotels offer a AAA discount as well as some shops.
Discounts at restaurants and shops (some) are also available using your Preferred or Premium AP too. As a rule of thumb show the card EVERYWHERE whenever you purchase anything.

3. Is there any way to not have to pay the $12/day parking fee? Does the annual pass cover that? Or AAA?
As far as I know the answer is no. Some extended stays (weeks-month) have fees waived or reduced as a courtesy upon asking.

4. Does Universal have an 800 number?

Thank you!

Your welcome, hope that helps!

The annual pass discounts on meals and merchandise tend to be better than the AAA's. It is 20% off in the stores and 10 - 15% off meals. We have both and we always use the APH discounts because they consistently beat AAA's discounts.

As for parking, this is becoming a pretty standard thing and harder to remove. $12.00 per night seems so reasonable now as we are heading to the Anaheim Marriott next week (after Loews Santa Monica) and the parking there is $20.00 per night, $27.00 for valet. At a Marriott. Aaaargh - It's making me rethink renting a car!

Unfortunately, the 20% has now been changed to 10%.

we recommend the Preferred AP, the Power Pass AP has many blackout dates..be sure your dates aren't one of them. Premiere is way expensive and not that many more perks than preferred.

That's too bad. When did it change? Glad I bought a bunch of stuff in November!

I guess it is immediately as on the website with the annual pass discounts, they all now say 10% where they used to say 20%

Thank you all for the helpful information! We would only be buying one annual pass - to get the hotel discount - so as long as our dates aren't blacked out I will get the Preferred Pass.

We would like to do 4 days at Universal and 2 at Sea World and I am having a terrible time trying to figure out the best way to do it! I'm sure I'll have more questions - I'll post them in a separate thread.

Thanks again,

Betty
