ok, you got me...I made these today for work for one of my co-workers birthdays. Boy are they sweet!! I could eat one but no more than that!

But were they good?

Shameless bump, because these are GREAT at holiday parties.

My SIL makes these every Christmas. She uses just the white chocolate and calls them 'snowballs'. They are yummy!! We rarely have any left over.

They look fantastic, but I don't like chocolate.

My twin boys don't like chocolate either, they're 15. Don't know where they get that from because I LOVE chocolate and their dad can eat a can of chocolate frosting straight out of the can!!! :rotfl2: Anyway, these look yummy and I think I just found my recipe for our annual cookie exchange. Thanks for sharing!

Here is a twist...
Use Mint Oreos!!! They tast just like Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies!
I think my family likes these better than the 'regular' ones! :thumbsup2

Bump... as I'm making these tonight and wanted to share! Mmmmmm!!!

Bumping this up as I was asked to provide the recipe.

I make Oreo truffles every year during the holidays, and they are always a big hit. Some tips I have learned:

I melt my chocolate in the microwave. Add a tablespoon of Crisco to the almond or chocolate bark so it melts better and stays smooth.

They freeze well. I freeze most of mine without chocolate, and then dipped them fresh, but you can do both. A bag of say a dozen can be pulled out for a family snack, or to top on ice cream for dessert, and a few bags can come out to make a plate for a party.

Set them onto baking trays that previously were in the freezer (perhaps chilling the balls), and lined with nonstick baking paper - they set quicker and peel off the paper easily.

Make sure they are nice and hard and cold before dipping in chocolate (or bark).

It's easier to use 2 forks to manipulate them in the dipping chocolate.

If you melt white chocolate in a ziplock bag and snip the corner, you can drizzle over the brown chocolate coated balls so they look like expensive chocolate truffles!!

Placing each ball into a tiny petit four paper case when decorated like this makes people thing they are just SO extra special -and they all wonder at your greatness. ;)

Thanks
DH walked by as I opened the thread and said yummy.
Now he will ask for these everyday till I make them.
But they do look good

Oh! I have a holiday cocktail party I am hosting in less than 2 weeks and these would be great! One question, what kind of chocolate do you use? Like melted chips or a special kind?

I used one of the bars of choclate you find in the baking aisle at the grocery store.

wow, just wow. these are now on my list of things to make for christmas

thanks for the tips too on how to make it simpler yet dress it up:)

I am wondering about using a higher end bark. Has anyone done that rather than the more inexpensive chocolate?

These look so good!!

Do I have to refridgerate them after making them (because of the cream cheese) or can they be left out??

And can I poke them w/a toothpick to dunk them in the melted chocolate??? I don't have a slotted anything!!! Seriously, I don't bake. :rolleyes1

You can use a fork to lift them from the melted chocolate. :thumbsup2
