I didn't know where else to post this so I'm hoping someone can help me... I figure if anyone can help find obscure Disney stuff it would be Disers!!!

I am looking for an article that I read once about Walt's theme park philosophy. I believe it was actually the words of someone that worked with Walt. It was his retelling of what mattered in creating a theme park (vs and amusement park). It had things like why/how Disney tries to engage all the senses---why the details matter---stuff like that.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?!?! I had saved a copy of it and now can't find it anywhere. I need it for a presentation!! HELP!!

Ok, these are both GREAT!! I had not seen either of them before and I really am glad to have you point them out to me!! THANK YOU!!

I am still looking for the orginal article I read--it was an interview with someone, I believe as they walked through the Magic Kingdom. They were talking about how Walt wanted to engage all the senses in the park (thus the smell from the bakery, etc). It really focused on all the little details in WDW--how, even though a majority of people would never notice the tiny details, they still mattered and worked together to create the Disney experience.

Anyone? Does this sound familiar to anyone????

I would suggest posting your question on the Rumors and News forum. There are a few regular posters over there that may be able to help you. (even quote you word for word from the article ;) )

Try Designing Disney by Disney legend John Hench. Amazon.com has some resellers that currently have if for sale at this link. The book is really about the artistic theory behind everything in the parks, and written by the Imagineer that really figured it all out. It not only talks about the obvious stuff like pre-shows and 'weenies', but also about the use of color and shapes. It's a good text if you really want to know about design.

Another book, that's fairly rare, is Disneyland: The Inside Story by Imagineer Randy Bright. The book covers the history and development of the park and includes a lot of design philosphy as well.
