Im looking at this Trailmanor....any advice?

The last time I was at the RV dealer they commented that the popups and the lightweights were the only thing selling, even with the price of fuel down a little, people were looking to economize.

Oh and it is garage kept and only been camping 3 times so it looks brand new. And I'm not actually selling it but would trade up to help a friend. I want a light weight trailer.

A pic just for reference.

That looks like a nice spot. Care to share where it is?

It will happen.........when you least expect it! Too bad you didnt live up here, they are selling them like crazy!!! Unless your willing do drive up here....I will keep my eye out.:thumbsup2

Im searching ALL OVER....I aint afraid of a little road trip!! But I WOULD like it to be in the South Eastern part of the country.

The last time I was at the RV dealer they commented that the popups and the lightweights were the only thing selling, even with the price of fuel down a little, people were looking to economize.

This sure explains why many of the pop-ups are priced as high as some decent larger units!! They are definately in higher demand!!!!:teacher:

I posted this on FB:
my current budget is 3k......but for that price it HAS to have A/C,and at least a spot for a cassette-potty if not an already installed toilet(lotsa females in the family...Im good with a flashlight and a tree, and the flashlight is optional!!). Pop-up is fine, in fact I dont expect to find a hard sided unit for this price...but ya never know. No 5th wheels unless its a toy hauler(need the truck bed for the golf cart). Oh...and it has to be less than 4000 lbs dry, so under 25 feet...lots of specifics there, I know, but if ya happen to see something that fits in all of THAT...send me a link. THANKS!

Sure it is Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores AL. It sits on a lake just across for the Gulf. A very nice and well equiped CG. It even has a golf coarse. Heres another pic just to wet your appitite. Getting up early for nature calls has its benefits. This is the link to the park. http://www.alapark.com/parks/park.cfm?parkid=22

I will look for you up here anyway........whats a little road trip, right? Besides, you and your fam will have a place to stay when you get here! Can you pm me your email address, and that way, if something stellar comes this way I can forward it to you? And are you willing to sacrifice the potty/spot or a/c if its a screaming deal? And how old do you want to go? Heres to a camper......:thumbsup2

Rog I found this pup that looks pretty nice. One thing about taking a road trip for you is what if you get to it and it's got problems. Then you just wasted your time and fuel. I recommend either finding one close by or from another fiend or a fiend you can trust to properly inspect and get close up pics for you. Just my .02.

Mrsscooter....sooo very nice of you. The potty MAY be something I couldlook past...but we live in the south, A/C is a neccessary part of life!:)

Donnie....thats a perfect one....Im gonna write them and see how firm they are on that price.

Thanks folks!!!

Hey Rog- after my experiences this weekend- look very carefully for water leaks!!! When I got to the Fort on Friday, I had almost 2 in of water in the camper!!! The roof leaked the entire trip- it was a mess! I knew next to nothing about Pups when we got ours and the dealer assured me there were no water problems.... boy was he wrong!!! I know its probably one of the first things you'd check for, but just double and triple check if you can!!!

Good luck on finding something- I'll keep my eye out around here too :thumbsup2

Rog,

NADAGuides.com shows the base average retail for the 1998 Grandview to be $2660.

Thanks for the heads up...I went to nadaguides to add in all the options that are installed on his unit....dinette slide-out,A/C-heat, potty/shower, awning/screenroom, 3way fridge,etc....the avg retail is $3570! He wrote me and told me that one of the seams has a small area that has come un-sewed, and that the screen on the door has a very small rip, other than that...its in near showroom condition. So far he isnt willing to go lower than the $3250, Im going to ask him again at the end of the weekend and see if he's softened up any.

Tiggershunny....WOW.....very nice find. I just called the owner and left a message. You should REALLY post more often, you just made my day a little brighter!!!! I'll let ya know how things go when he calls me back. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :)

Oh that's great!! My family bought a pop-up last year that was less than perfect. We totally re-did it, sold it, and were able to buy a used travel trailer in mint condition....and pay for it out right. We had so much fun re-doing the pop-up. I'm always looking for old pop-ups and vintage campers. Hope it works out for you!

Tammy

Good luck Rog, looks like a nice trailer.

I can picture many a happy evening at the Fort in that.

I have to share a story that a co-worker told me about their adventures on Memorial Day weekend. They did not make any plans to go camping, due to a hectic schedule and lots of things.

So there they are on a fantastic Friday night at home after spending the evening getting the pop-up trailer all set up for the summer, getting it all out of storage, etc. when they decide to just do backyard camping.

Everyone goes and get's the bedding, pillows, and "stuff" and they make the most of it. Eventually, they get the kids settled into their bunk and Mom & Dad go to the other end to climb into bed. (Can you see where this is going yet????)

Sure enough, in their haste to just make the most of the last minute decision to camp in the backyard, Dad forgot to put the stabilizer bars down and when he climbed into the bed at the rear of the trailer, up went the front end and the kids came tumbling down to their end. THOSE are the memories the kids will keep forever! :lmao:

I wonder how many people make that mistake and just don't own up to it.

Hi....I usually just lurk but saw this thread and well, would this work?

Not sure if you want to travel that far though. Good luck finding what you need.

Tammy

Hey, that one's in my neck of the woods.

Not sure what part of town he's in, but I'm on the east side of Dallas in between US80 and I20 as you come into town from Shreveport. I'd be willing to take an initial look see for you before you drive all the way to Dallas. If you do come up, let me know, you're welcome to stop by for a brewski if you wish.

ThanksMike...I called him and he said that one os already sold, but his uncle was also selling one for about the same price. He asked if he could call me back in about 20 minutes to get my email address so he could send me pics.....he never called back, I hate to call people repeatedly, but after a few hours I called him to see what happened he didnt answer, so I left a message.....I still havent heard back from him:(

Camper shopping is hard work and heartbreaking!!

Sorry to hear that. You're just having no luck at all right now. Could be a good thing though, the perfect trailer is still waiting for you somewhere.

Yeah...everything happens for a reason......I just aint real sure what the reason is yet!!!

The show must go on!

BDR you'll find the right one!:thumbsup2 I know it took me a lot of looking and then I didn't even find it my dad found it and called me! It's was better then I could anticipate. My dad kept telling me to be patient and wait. I'm sure I would have gotten one that would not have been right and I not listen to him. Good Luck and I'm sure you will find what your looking for:thumbsup2
