Hey guys! I am about to start my post-trip report- but thought I'd do a quick version here.

April 9-16: Disney was busy! Never been there in April before, and not sure I'd go again at that time of year... spring break was still in full swing. Weather was pretty nice- mid to upper 80's on days 1-4, and then rain on Sunday the 13th and that dropped temps into the 60's!

Dining was fantastic! Everything went smoothly and was a blast! Can't wait to start planning the next trip!

Looking forward to your trip report.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

Woke up bright and early (6am) to get ready for DISNEY! I love the feeling of knowing that "today is the day!" :goodvibes

Left the house at 9:00 am in order to get to the airport for our 11:15 am flight on Allegiant Air- a direct connection. My sister drove us to the airport so that we wouldn't have to leave our car there. We checked in, no problems, and sat at the gate for our flight. Things seemed to be delayed for some reason. At about 10:30am we heard that our plane had arrived but that we needed to move to another gate. We headed to the second gate and watched as passengers unloaded from our plane. Things were taking a while, it seemed.

At 11:30am it was announced that the plane had “flap issues” during landing, and was not going anywhere. Everyone groaned. No panic from us, yet. The announcement was made- they were going to send in a new plane from Vegas., however, there would be a delay of about 4-5 hours. Good thing for us, we didn’t have anything planned for this first day at Disney- we had only planned to look around the boardwalk and have dinner wherever the mood struck us.

We called my sister, summoned her back to the airport (good thing it is only 15 minutes from our house where she was staying!) and then left the airport to have lunch. We returned to the airport after lunch and spent time reading, playing games, taking photos etc.

We were finally boarded at 5:00 pm (6 pm Florida time). The flight went very smoothly- this was the first flight for our kids, and they loved it! Upon landing, our pilot announced the current temperature was about 70 degrees at our arrival time of 9 pm! Can't beat that! With the direct flight, we had flown in to Sanford International, so we had to get a rental car and drive the remaining 45 minutes to the resort. Our car pick-up was hassel free and quick, which was great since we were all tired at that point and getting hungry!

We drove to Orlando- the youngest DD falling asleep in the car. We finally arrived at POP Century around 10 pm. The youngest was tough to wake up- as you can see, she was still tired while waiting at check-in.

At check-in, I explained that when we booked our room that there weren’t any preferred rooms available for our first night, but did get a preferred room for the remainder of the trip, and I wondered if we could get one now to avoid a room switch. The assistant said that she would find us a room that was close to the main lobby/busses, but that it wasn’t necessarily “preferred”.

She got us a room in the 1960’s building- right next to the large Mowgli and Baloo icons, #5435. It was very close to the main lobby and pool which is what we wanted. Since it wasn’t a “preferred” location, we would be refunded the difference for the other room for the remainder of our trip. Win-win for us!

After all of the check-in was finished, I went to get our groceries that we had requested in advance (Garden Grocer had delivered while we were still waiting at the airport for our plane and the resort had held it at the luggage area). The man that helped us was very nice, and loaded all of our groceries and bags onto the luggage cart and told the exhausted kids to hop on for a ride to the room.

Once in our room, we unloaded our bags and groceries and then headed to the food court- we were starving! Monkey (6 y.o. DD) ordered the kids cheese pizza. Peanut (8 y.o. DD) had the chicken alfredo. DH had the meatball sandwich and I had the parmesan crusted chicken. Our dining plan didn't begin until the next day, so it was OOP for us- can't find the receipt however for this. :confused3 Everyone enjoyed their dinners- I absolutely love the parm chicken. We were astonished to see that the re-fillable mugs were the same as our mugs that we got in December. We kicked ourselves for not bringing them with us!

We went to the gift shop and did our first bit of shopping- we had planned to suprise the kids with tickets to the PPP, so I bought a pirate-princess ball cap to wear for myself for $19.95 and the kids each got a new pin for their lanyards. They had a deal going on that if you spent over $40 in merchandise, you could purchase a WDW tote bag for $10- needless to say, I have one now! :rolleyes1 After shopping, we headed to the room for sleep- tomorrow was going to be full of fun!

Coming soon...... Day 2: Animal Kingdom & Magic Kingdom!

Day 2: Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom

Up bright and early in order to get to AK when it opened. It wasn't an EMH day there, so we hoped we'd be able to avoid crowds a bit. The weather was forecasted for sunny skies and mid-upper 80's. We put the tank tops and sunscreen on and headed out!

We had to make a quick stop to return our rental car from the night before. This was a dreaded task for us- felt like a chore that would interfere with the flow of the day. It wasn't!! We were told we could return the car to the Dolphin resort which was about 10 minutes from POP Century. Once we got there, we asked the valet where we were to go to return the rental, and he just whipped out a sheet, and had us sign it and that was it! Bingo, Bango, Bongo. Return was done!

From Dolphin, we caught their bus to AK. We got there just as planned with plenty of time to spare before park opening. I even had time to stop and get my birthday button.

The kids and I headed straight for the safari while DH went to snag FP for EE. On the way to the safari, we encountered Lilo and Stitch and were first in line for autographs and photos.

We met up with DH and did the safari. It is always a fun time, and even though the animals weren't quite up and moving as much as we have seen them before, it was a great time none the less!

After the safari, we had time to kill before EE, so we headed to Dinoland. It was dead over there, so we did Dinosaur real quick. None of us enjoyed it much (as was the case on our last trip)- as usual it was too bumpy, too loud, too jerky. Afterwards we headed to EE. I hadn't been on it before (whimped out during the last trip!), but had promised the kids that I would do it this time. What a great ride! Loved it!! And... Monkey loved it even more that I screamed the ENTIRE TIME I was on it!

We had stopped on the way to EE to get FP for the Kali River Rapids, and planned to do that after our lunch. We stopped at Flame Tree for lunch and since we have wised up to the DDP, we felt we got a great deal! (We have stopped getting kids meals on the plan for QS meals... the kids don't care for the "kids food" always being mac and cheese or PB sandwiches, so instead we have them split one regular QS meal which saves us money in the end and gives them better selections of food.)

We ordered the two of the 1/2 roasted chickens, and one rib meal.

IMG_4156.jpg
We shared everything and had tons left over! By my calulations, we would have spent about $41 for this meal out of pocket. :scared1: Thank goodness for the DDP!

After lunch, we went to Kali River Rapids and got drenched. Thank goodness for great weather- we dried quickly! As the last stop for the day, we headed on the train to Rafiki's. We hadn't done this on previous trips, so this was new to us. The kids had their first encounter with the talking recycle bin... this was truely a highlight of the trip!

The recycle bin saw my birthday button and sang happy birthday to me, which the kids got a HUGE kick out of!! I must admit, it was quite entertaining!

Time to leave AK and go relax at the pool before having our evening at MK....

More to come....

Hello! Glad I found your report! Looks like your trip had a good start.

Please let me know what car rental company you used. It would be great to not have to leave the property when dropping off the car.

Thanks!

We used Alamo- they had a great rate since we only needed it for the ride from the airport to the resort. I really can't stress enough how easy it was to drop the car off and then (as you will see in my TR) how easy it was to pick up our rental for the return ride back to the airport later in the trip!

Continuing...

Left AK and got to POP Century to enjoy the pool. It was a great day for swimming- blue skies all around! We only stayed at the pool for about an hour, but it was a great break! While at the pool, DH stopped at the Petals Bar and got us each a beer- at a bank breaking $12 after tip- it was still worth it!

After a quick change we were on our way to MK.

Upon arrival, we noticed the great Pirate and Princess topiaries out front and noted them to the kids. It was still a surprise that we were planning to go to PPP- they were questioning the signs about it at the park though! Why weren't we going?? They asked. :confused3

We had planned to get some FP for major rides and hit them before our dinner reservations at CP. DH headed to get passes for SM and was going to meet us. We realized upon walking in that it was crazy busy! The streets were packed, lines were incredible and it appeared that not much was going to be accomplished during this visit.

DH returned empty handed. NO FP given out. Ugh. And so early in the evening! Bummer!! We decided to give a try at checking in for dinner early.
We checked in and the host told me that it would be fine to be seated early. We waited on the "front porch" of CP for our buzzer to go off. We ended up being called only about 15 minutes before our original reservation time, but that was fine. We were able to catch the show in front of the castle during our wait and it kept us entertained. Monkey fell asleep during the wait which helped improve her mood later on.

We were finally called for our table. When we went to sit down, we saw that they had decorated the table for my birthday. What a treat! Streamers and confetti... fun! We had eaten at CP during each of our previous trips, so our waitress- Virginia, gave us the low-down and sent us on our way.

We had a great experience at CP- as usual. The characters were wonderful with their interactions, the food was fantastic! At the end of the meal, Virginia gave me a birthday card signed by the characters as well as herself which was very sweet. I also got a birthday cupcake!

After dinner, we hit Splash Mountain (not sure why there wasn't a huge wait for this) and then decided to head back to POP. It was right as Spectro was beginning, so we took the train back to the front of the park and saw the beginning of the parade from the train station. We decided NOW would be a great time to head out before the crowds left Spectro.

We got on our non-crowded bus and headed back to the resort. Tomorrow would be a very late night with the PPP, so we were ready to get some decent sleep!

Next up.... EPCOT- Flower-Garden Festival as well as MK- PPP!
