I'm kind of terrified about going to DLP on the 14th!

Trying my best not to let the threat of terror get the better of me but all of the horrible news that has been coming out of Paris is making so anxious. A friend and I are staying at the Hotel New York from the 14th to the 16th, and with the news that the park was partially evacuated today (even though it was a false alarm) I am more nervous than ever!!

A bit of a ramble post, would just love to talk this through with some fellow DLP lovers. :worried:

You know, I don't travel abroad , but don't let things like this upset you. This could happen in our own areas as well. I am sure there are folks from over there hear about things happening here and are afraid to come. Don't let this stop you from traveling unless they are really telling people it is not in there best interest to do so. You could spend a life time worrying about things that may never happen.

Go and enjoy the vacation, and I am sure when you return you will be so glad you did.

The park wasnt evacuated just 1 hotel and it was a false alarm. Disney have good security.

the best advice i can give you, is don't listen to the tabloid news! check forums like this one, as lilacgems says, there was no evacuation of the park at DLP, it was one hotel, and it was a hoax (which is appalling in my opinion considering the tragedies in Paris earlier in the week).

I would honestly go for the trip and not be worried, security has always been good at Disney and they have armed troops outside occassionally (and have done for many years) so that should hopefully put you at ease.

Do the best you can - enjoy your trip. don't let all this ruin all for you. It's what those people want - destroy normal life, live in fear. Don't let them.
I'm sure you'll be safe. Pay no attention to rumors.

Don´t let these people win !

hope you don't worry to much and enjoy your time at Disney:wizard:...
we also are going next week and I must say I didnt even thing about not going.... its very sad what had happen last week but live go on and we have to enjoy it in the best way we can and where is not better than in Disneyland;)

Try not to let what's happened worry you too much. I was staying in the Sequioa Lodge at the time of the attacks. The first thing we knew about the shootings was the following day when there was 1 minute silence. Obviously then we started googling etc and friends started texting from the UK.
With regards to what happened at the acctual hotel, some stupid woman made an ill judged declaration and will no doubt pay for it for a long time. Police attended evacuated the hotel and arrested the woman. While this must have been very scary for the people still inside the hotel at the time, the incident was kept very low key and hats off to all the staff at Disneyland for the way it was all handled. I was with my family in the parks while the above was happening and knew nothing at all about it until later that evening when a friend in England text me. The staff at the hotel carried on as if nothing had happened.

I was a bit anxious about going last weekend, but I did and I'm glad I did. I had a fantastic weekend. I was completely oblivious to the evacuation on the 10th and ate in California Grill that evening (one of the best meals I've ever had - and that includes restaurants NOT at Disney)!

Seeing armed police there both days was a little unsettling - but reassuring in the same way! Believe me - once you're on the property and inside the parks, you're surrounded by the magic and the real world slips away.

I was expecting there to be an unpleasant atmosphere, but nothing could have been further from the truth - in fact I had some fantastic encounters with ToT CMs! The whole operation was on great form. I was a tiny bit surprised they didn't cancel "Lights Moteurs Action" (hearing intense gunfire from the back of WDS was perhaps not the most fantastic thing given the events the previous day)... but on the other hand, it is a great example of how Disney is really outside of reality.
